1. VINCENT¹ RONGNION was born Abt. 1645 in Poitou, France, and died November 13, 1713 in Piscataway, Middlesex Co., NJ. He married ANN BOUCHER July 17, 1668 in Trenton, NJ, daughter of JOHN BOUCHER and ANNE ???. Anne was born Abt. 1650 in HERTFORDSHIRE, ENGLAND, and died Bet. 1723 - 1725 in PISCATAWAY, MIDDLESEX CO, NJ.

Notes for VINCENT RONGNION:

Mary Ann Runyon is the gateway individual for me to the Runyon family. She is descended from two differnet sons of Vincent, his son Peter AND his son Vincent (jr.) The forty-one ancestors, siblings and other members of her extended family (excluding her descendants) that I have listed here have been compiled from the work of other researchers. Other than initially connecting to this family, only a small portion of the ORIGINAL research was done by me, so I only abstracted my direct line from the work of others. At some point in time I may attempt to investigate this line for myself but there are SO MANY GOOD researchers who have done work on this line that I am a babe in the woods here by comparison.
Their have been and still are SO MANY researchers working on this family and it is generally hard to tell where one person's research ends and another ones begins! The researchers whose work I consulted the most on MY LINE are: Robert Runyon ( WFT Vol 24 Tree 2231), Geri Halstead ("Up the Runyon Tree"), Harmon Clark ("Runyon Reports" to the rootsweb Runyon Family mailist), and Tom Runyon. Harmon Clark and Geri Halstead are very very highly respected runyon family researchers who have been working on the entire Runyon family for decades. Robert Runyon, the compiler of WFT 24 Tree 2231, has done considerable research. His sources are included in the "notes' sections for each individual instead of in the standard "source" sections. I am impressed by the accuracy that I see in this work (with what little I really know about ]. Tom Runyon has worked very hard to compile and share and sift through all ot the data that has been previously compiled on this line. Rather than repeat their work, which I could never equal in an entire lifetime, I have tried to quote it accurately, respect it, source it, and pass it on to you, my fellow descendants and researchers. VINCENT and ANN BOUCHER RUNYON
It has been proven by Runyon researchers that Vincent Runyon and Ann Boucher were founder's of most, and many believe all, of the Runyon family in America. Vincent was a French Hugeunot from Poitou France and Ann's family was from England. Many believe that Ann's family too had French roots, but this is a point of discusssion amongst researchers.

The first reference to Vincent in America is in 1668, in a 'marriage license' given by Philip Carteret, the young Governor of East Jersey. The document is on file in the office of Secretary of State of New Jersey, at Trenton and reads as follows Source Runyon24-2231.FTW:

"To any of the Justices of the Peace or Ministers of the Province of New Jersey: Whereas I have received information of a mutual agreement between Vincent Rongnion, of Portiers, in France, and Ann Boutcher, the daughter of John Boutcher, of Hartford, in England, to solemnize marriage together, for which they have requested my lycense, and there appearing no lawful impediment for the obstruction thereof, these are to require you or eyther of you, to joyne the said Vincent Rongnion and Ann Boutcher in matrimony, and them to pronounce man and wife, and to make record thereof, according to the laws in that behalf provided, for the doing whereof this shall be to you or eyther of you a sufficient warrant. Given under my hand and seal of the Province, the 28th day of June, 1668, and the 20th year of the raigne of our Sovereign Lord Charles the Second, of England, Scotland and Ireland, kind, defender of the faith, etc.
