THE WILL OF WILLIAM BARTLETT

In the name of God Amen, I, William BARTLETT of the County of Trimble and State of Kentucky believing that my days are numbered upon this earth, being infirm in body but of sound mind and disposing memory do make this my last will and Testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me _____ ____ ____ I give up my soul to my heavenly father who gave it to me.
2nd. It is my ______________________________ ________.
3rd. It is my will and desire that my beloved wife Dicey _____keep up my estate both real and personal _______________________________ ________________________
4th. It is my will and desire that my daughter Ann MUIR, wife of Robert MUIR may have the work and services of during her life of my negro girl Nancy and her increase which said girl Nancy and her increase if she shall have any is to be held in trust by my son Richard T. BARTLETT so as to let the said Ann have only the work and labor of said girl and her increase during the life of said Ann and nothing more and that the said girl and her increase if any may be equally divided among the sons and daughters of said Ann at the death of said Ann. This is to be ___ by the said Richard T. BARTLETT who is to hold the same in trust for the said Ann aforesaid.
5th. It is my will and desire that my grand children ___ William B. LANE, Richard N. LANE, Sophronia LANE and George B. LANE, children of my daughter Susan LANE, deceased have paid to each of them when they become of age respectively out of my estate One Hundred Dollars each and no more.
It is my will and desire that my daughter Eveline NOEL, wife of Tho. NOEL may have the work and services of my negro girl Harriett and the increase of said Harriett if any during the life of said Eveline which said negro girl Harriett and her increase if any she have is to be held in trust by my son Richard T. BARTLETT during the life of said Eveline so as to let the said Eveline have the work and services of said girl Harriett and also the services of the increase of said Harriett and nothing more and after the death of my said daughter Eveline I wish that said Richard T. BARTLETT then to divide the said Harriett and her increase or their value among the sons and daughters of said Eveline. But that the said Richard T. BARTLETT is to hold said girl and her increase if any in trust as aforesaid.
7th. It is my will and desire that my daughter Margaret DAVIS, wife of John DAVIS may have the work and services of my negro girl Eady and her increase during the life of said Margaret which said girl and her increase if any she have shall be held in trust by my son Richard T. BARTLETT and to let the said Margaret have the work and services of said girl and said girl's increase and nothing more during the life of said Margaret and after the death of said Margaret it is my desire that my said son Richard T. BARTLETT may have the said girl __ ___ and her increase divided equally among the sons and daughters of the said Margaret.
8th. It is my will and desire that my son Richard T. BARTLETT have my negro boy Wesley to do with as he may choose which said boy I now give up to said Richard. I do also wish my said son Richard to have the one third interest in the following negroes herewith; my Negro man David, my boy Jack and a girl Amy this last mentioned interest I wish Richard to have at the death of my said wife or sooner if it is the wish of my wife and not otherwise and that he Richard may have the same value or amount of furniture as I have heretofore given to my said married daughters when they were married.
9th. It is my will and desire that my daughter Elizabeth BARTLETT have the one third portion of my negroes __David, Amy and Jack this interest she is to have at the death of my wife or sooner if my said wife may choose, to her and her children only and to no other person whatsoever. But if she should die without children then her interest is to be equally divided among my living children at this time and their heirs to be held in trust by said Richard T. BARTLETT as aforesaid for them during the life of my said daughters Ann, Eveline and Margaret.
10th. It is my will and desire that my daughter Rebecca BARTLETT have the one third portion of the said David, Jack & Amy. This interest she is to have at the death of my wife or sooner if my wife may choose, to her the said Rebecca and her children only and no other person whatsoever. But if the said Rebecca should die without issue then her said interest is to be equally divided among my living children at this time and their heirs to be held in trust by the said Richard T. BARTLETT as aforesaid for the said Ann MUIR, Eveline NOEL and Margaret DAVIS during the of the said Ann, Eveline and Margaret and then to their heirs respectively. I also wish my two last named daughters Elizabeth and Rebecca to have a house apiece to be worth sixty dollars each & that they may have as much furniture each as I have given heretofore to my said daughters Ann, Eveline and Margaret. This they are to have as soon as they desire the same. I wish after the death of my said wife that all the estate which she may have not heretofore specifically above devised to be equally divided among the above named children now living and their heirs to be held in trust in the same manner and same way as above named and no other way do I wish it to be amended or _____.
I hereby nominate and appoint my son Richard T. BARTLETT my sole Executor to this my last will and Testament. I so wish him to be permitted to administer fully upon my estate without first having to give security in Court. I do give him the power to sell and convey my real estate if it shall be the wish of my said wife before her death and after her death he is to sell and convey the said real estate to be divided as aforesaid and held in trust as aforesaid and no other way as I wish my estate to be divided. Given under my hand this 30th day of October 1842.
