Know all men by these presents that we William BARTLETT, William DAVIS & Michael W. PASCHALL all of Warren County in the state aforesaid are held and firmly bound unto John L. WARD, Robt. L. CHEEK, Will WILLIAMS & Richard DAVISON Justices of the Court of Please [sic] and Quarter Sessions for the County of Warren in the sum of one thousand pounds current money to be paid to the said Justices or the surviving or survivors of them, their Executors or Administrators in Trust for the benefit of the child hereafter named committed to the? Tuition of the said To which payment well and truly to be made we bind ourselves and each of us each and every of our Heirs Executors and Administrators jointly severally and firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals and dated this 26 day of February 1816.

The condition of the above obligation is such that ??creas [probably whereas] the above bounden [sic] William BARTLETT is constituted and appointed Guardian to Judah BARTLETT a minor orphan. Now if the said Wm. BARTLETT shall faithfully execute his said Guardianship by securing and improveing [sic] all the Estate of the said Judah BARTLETT that shall come into his possession For the benefit of the said Judah BARTLETT until she* shall arrive at full age, or be soner [sic] thereto required and then render a plain and true account of his said Guardianship on oath before the Justices of our said court & deliver up pay to or profit? the said Judah BARTLETT of all such Estate or Estates as he ought to be possessed of ---? Such other person or persons as shall be lawfully authorized or empowered to receive the same and the profits arising therefrom then his obligation to be void otherwise to be and remain in full force & virtue.

1 One William BARTLETT (possibly from this same family) married Elizabeth PASCHALL Mar 15, 1808 in Warren Co. They had sons Samuel and Alfred G., dau Matilda, wife of Cyrus WILCOX. In about 1834 they moved to Grayson Co., VA. (See biography, Grayson Co., VA).
2 It is unknown if Spious, Katherine, George, William and Fanny BARTLETT are from the same family as William who died Warren County 1807. None of these are mentioned in his Will. There appear to be several different BARTLETT families in the Mecklenburg, VA-Warren and adjoining counties in NC. (See also deeds and court records)

Warren County}

Know all men by these presents that William BARTLETT, William DAVIS & Michael W. PASCHALL, are held and firmly bound unto [illegible, but appears to be Henry ---tts] Chairman and other Justices of the County Court of Warren in the sum of One Thousand pounds to be paid to the said Chairman or his successors in office or other justices of the County Court of Warren ..the? which payment well and truly to be made we bind ourselves, our Heirs, Executors and Administrators jointly and severally firmly by these Presents Sealed with our Seales [sic] and dated this 25th day of February 1816.

This condition of the above obligation is such that if the above bounden [sic] William BARTLETT Administrator of all and singular the goods and chattles [sic], Rights and Credits of Fanny BARTLETT deceased do make or cause to be made a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the goods and Chattles, Rights and Credits of the said deceased which have or shall come to the Hand Knowledge or possession of the said William BARTLETT or into the Hands or Possession of any Person or Persons for William BARTLETT and the same so made do exhibit or cause to be exhibited to our said County Court of Warren within ninety days after the date of these presents and the same goods chattles and credits and all other goods Chattels and Credits of the said deceased at the time of her? Death or which at any time hereafter shall come into the Hands or Possession of the said William BARTLETT or into the Hands or possession of any other Person or Persons for William BARTLETT do well and truly administer according to Law and further do make or cause to be made a true and just account of his said administration within the time required by the act of Assembly after the date of these Presents and all the Rest and residue of the said goods, Chattles and credits which shall [be?] found remaining in the hands of or due from the said Administrator shall deliver and pay unto such Person or Persons respectively as the same shall become due, pursuant to the true intent or meaning of the Act of Assembly in that case and provided And [bottom of page and illegible] Will or Testament was made by the deceased and the Executor or Executors therein named do exhibit the same in Court making a request to have it allowed and approved of accordingly if the said William BARTLETT above bounden being thereunto required to render and deliver the said Letters of Administration (approbation of such Testament being first had and made in the said Court) then this obligation to be void otherwise to remain in full Force and Virtue.
