The Commissioners for the town of Troy met in called session in lieu of regular session date above written with the following members present:

C. J. Poole, Mayor

Dr. J. A. Sisk} Commissioner

R. T. Poole} Commissioner

J. C. Hurley} Commissioner

Dr. S. H. McCall} Commissioner

Z. F. Cranford, Marshall

Ordered that Z. F. Cranford, Marshall, inspect and investigate L. Clark’s scavenger cart bed and see if he (L. Clark) is coming up to articles of agreement as set forth in minutes of meeting first Monday night in September and to see that said L. Clark performs the work of town scavenger in a decent and business-like way. In this same connection, the Mayor is instructed to investigate scavenger dray-beds as to their cost, etc and report results of above said investigations to board of Commissioners.

Ordered: That P. H. Crook be allowed $20.40 as per statements for Drayage for Town of Troy.

Ordered: That M. H. Oldham be allowed $5.oo and J. B. Cranford be allowed $2.50 for work and hauling for Town of Troy.

Ordered: That G. W. Allen & Son be allowed $7.56 for account as per statement for sundry articles of merchandise furnished Marshall’s Z. F. Cranford and W. R. Green in the execution of Street and Town work.

Ordered: That Montgomery Publishing Co. be allowed $2.00 as per statement for publishing Proclamations for “Clean-up week.”

By motion duly seconded and carried it was determined that the Health Officer for town of Troy not be paid any salary for services.

The Commissioners agree that the fire limits for the town of Troy be fixed and defined as follows:

From the intersection of Spring Street with South Main Street Northward to a point in North Main Street directly east of the Durham & Charlotte Depot and the width of said limits shall be 250 feet on either side of South and Main Streets in every direction from the outer boundaries of the Court house Square.Provided the limits herein defined do not extend beyond streets running parallel with North and South Main Streets opposite to the Court House.

The Marshall, Z. F. Cranford was elected “Chief of Fire Department and Inspector of Buildings.

Ordered that Z. F. Cranford be allowed claim of 7.50 for services cleaning town. This amount includes $2.50 as services Jeff Cranford, $5.00 M. Holoham.

There being no further business, the board adjourned.

The Board of Commissioners for the town of Troy met in called session on date above written, the following members being present:

Z. F. Cranford, Marshall

As per order of Board on June 5th, C. J. Poole presented tax books which he had prepared in pursuance to said order of June 5th.

Marshall, Z. F. Cranford presented his bond as tax collector for Town of Troy and Troy Graded School which instrument was reviewed, proved and accepted by the board. The Mayor being authorized by the board to have said bond registered.

Marshall, Z. F. Cranford reports that he has had L. Clark to put cover on lid on his scavenger cart bed but it appears that he (l. Clark) is slighting his work by neglecting or failing to clean out all the privies within incorporate limits ever week as per agreement.

After deliberating over a plan to tax a series of business enterprises, professions and nuisances in the town of Troy for the purpose of raising a more sufficient revenue for making same needed improvements in town and on streets, the matter was deferred until the next regular meeting of the board.

There being no further business, the board adjourned.
