The Commissioners for the town of Troy met in regular session on above written date, the following members being present:

R. T. Poole

Dr. S. H. McCall

J. C. Hurley

Z. F. Cranford, Marshall

On motion, Dr. S. H. McCall was made Chairman, Pro Term.

On motion, C. J. Poole was nominated and elected Mayor. Copy oath of Office as follows:

“North Carolina, Montgomery County.

I, C. J. Poole, do solemnly swear that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to the state of North Carolina, and to the Constitutional powers and authorities which are or may be established for the government thereof; and that I will endeavor to support, maintain and defend the constitution of said state, not inconsistent with the Constitution of the United States to the best of my knowledge and ability. So help me God.

I, C. J. Poole, do swear that I will well and truly execute the duties of the office of Mayor of the town of Troy according to the best of my skill and ability, according to law. So help me God.

On motion, Dr. Q. Deligny was duly elected health officer of town of Troy.

Ordered that a new registration be had in Troy Graded School District and that Guy Smith (unreadable) be appointed Registrar and that j. B. Ewing and J. F. Saunders be appointed poll holders.

Ordinance No. 37.

Ordered that all citizens of Troy be required to make or have made and installed sanitary closet within thirty days from date. Anyone violating this ordinance or using closet not sanitary within corporate limits of town of Troy shall be fined not less than $1.00 (one dollar) no more than $5.00 (five dollars) for each day closet so used. By sanitary closet is meant a privy to which the flies have no excess to the excrement.

Ordered that the Mayor of the town of Troy employ a competent carpenter to do the work of installing closets for the citizens of the town and that the said carpenter keep and accurate account of the materials used on each closet and that he furnish said Mayor with an itemized statement of all material used on each job, together with the number of hours worked on each job and that the said Mayor deliver said statement to the Town Marshall for collection.

Ordered that Z. F. Cranford be paid for sixty days service at $1.25 for services as Marshall.

Ordered that all pressing clubs pay an annual tax of $2.50. All laws in conflict are hereby repealed.

There being no further business the board adjourned.
