Hi. I am Cathy Cranford. Born in North Carolina and have lived in this state
for most of my life. I am a single mom of two young children. I completed high school,
went on to technical college and became a hair stylist. I later worked at various jobs,
mostly in video sales and rental. I no longer work due to health reasons. I help out at
the school my children attend and work to improve their school studies.
I home schooled both for a few years before they returned to public school.
We may home school again in the future.
I married Jim Ailstock and we are now divorced. We have two children
whose names are Sara and Amanda. These children are my first love. My second love is genealogy.
My love of family research has grown over the years. I am not paid for it, and work on it bit by bit. It keeps me busy, and gives me
something to do with this computer as well as my time. I try to help others make connections
and learn how to do their family research. I have been at this for over 5 years now but am still
learning each day, new ways of research and of ancestors long forgotten.
My mother and I worked together for many of those five years, and in my immediate family, we were
the only ones interested. We took many a jab for being interested in "dead people" as it has been
called.
But we kept at it and with pride. I continue today in her honor as she passed away in 2002.
A large chunk of myself went with her when she left. I took 2 years off in order to deal with
my grief but am now back and working when I can, picking up her family line where she left off, as
well as working my own surname of Cranford and relating surnames that twine in and out of our tree. My children
are now old enough to be a great source of help for me and without their help, some of this site
would not be here today. They are learning their way around webpage making to a great degree and
I am very proud of them. I hope that someday they will pick up where their grandmother, Claire,
left off and where I leave off when I am gone from this earth. I hope that they will
do the research with the passion that we held towards it and keep the research as honest
as possible. To always give credit where it is due and to tell the stories that were passed
down throughout the years so that the stories will continue to be told until the end of time.
Other than family research, I like to read, sew, paint, garden, crafts, spend time with my family
and decorate my home. I am spiritual and enjoy learning about improving the mind, body and soul.
That is about it folks, that is the basics of who I am. © 2003 Cathy Cranford |
