Affiant further deposes and says that the name of his father is John Stewart, who was born in Canada, that he is a direct descendant of one, James Bruce Stewart Carmichael, who left a large estate in Argleshire, Scotland. Said Manly R. Stewart, further deposes and says that he is the oldest living heir of said James Bruce Stewart Carmichael, and that as such heir, hereby deposes and says that he gives his consent to the procuring of a copy of the wills of Lord ____ and John Carmichael by those who have at heart the interest of the living heirs of said James Bruce Stewart Carmichael, to the end that said estate shall be divided among the legal heirs in a legitimate and honorable way. She married Charles "Jolle" Vanderheide on 13 May 1890.2 Harriet Emily Philp wrote her family a letter that detailed their relation to Hannah Abbott, daughter of Obed, and decendant of George Abbott of Rowley on 21 April 1916 at Hoquiam, Washington.8,9 She lived in 1923 at Marion, Michigan.4 She witnessed the death of Sarah Ann Reader on 23 December 1923 at Missaukee County, Michigan; She died at the home of her daughter, Hattie Vanderheide, near Marion.10 Harriet Emily Philp moved into her mother's home and continued teaching in 1926 at Lake City, Michigan.11 She retired and moved in with her daughter Lydia in 1929 at Grand Rapids, Michigan.11 She died on 5 October 1949 at Grand Rapids, Michigan, at age 83 years, 9 months and 6 days. She died in her daughter's home, twenty years after her husband did.2,11
