Seeing the family was based in Ohio, and that other Ohio locations are further linked to this group, I will assume Fairfield County, Ohio for this particular Greencastle. He was the son of John Smock and Margaret Matthews. John Matthew Smock married Mary Virginia Russell, daughter of William Russell and Catharina Wenner, on 13 March 1858. John Matthew Smock began military service in May 1863 serving in the Army during the Civil War. He ended military service in October 1863; upon which he volunteered with the O.N.G. (Ohio National Guard?) and served four (4) months in the Shenendoah Valley under General Siegle when he was honorably discharged and returned home. He was a farmer before 1872 at Shawnee, Ohio. He was a teamster (teaming at Five Mile Furnace south of Logan, Hocking County and later at XX Furnace, Shawnee, Fairfield County after 1872 at Five Mile Furnace. He died on 13 June 1901 at Shawnee, Allen County, Ohio, at age 71 years, 7 months and 20 days.

     E. W. Reynolds was born in 1817. He married Minerva C. Smock, daughter of Samuel Ryker Smock and Mary Hoagland Monroe, in 1857. E. W. Reynolds died in 1903 at age 86 years.

     James H. Carr was born in 1841. He was the son of John Carr and Permelia Ryker. James H. Carr married Mary A. Kessler in 1864. James H. Carr died in 1903 at age 62 years.

     Martha Elizabeth Byles was born in 1826. She married John Poland, son of William Poland and Hannah Reynolds, in 1847. As of 1847,her married name was Poland. Martha Elizabeth Byles died in 1903 at age 77 years.

     William H. Maxwell was born on 26 October 1862 at Hastings, Ontario, Canada.¹ He was the son of William Maxwell and Arville Dibble.¹ William H. Maxwell relocated to Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan, in 1866. He relocated to Hastings, Ontario, Canada, between 1869 and 1878. He relocated to Isabelle County, Michigan, in 1878. He was an experience saw mill man, having commenced in the business when he was but seventeen years of age. Between 1879 and 1889. He married Jennie Canniff on 6 December 1887. William H. Maxwell accompanied William Andrew Stewart when William relocated in 1889 and came to reside in Spokane, Washington.² William H. Maxwell relocated to Spokane, Washington, in 1889. He was a farmer between 1889 and 1898 at Spokane, Washington. He relocated to vicinity of Daisy, Washington, circa 1890. He was in the lumber business operating the Blue Creek Mill in 1898. He died after 1903.¹

     John W. Maxwell was born on 11 February 1868 at Huron County, Michigan. He was the son of William Maxwell and Arville Dibble. John W. Maxwell relocated to Isabelle County, Michigan, in 1879. He relocated to Spokane, Washington, in 1890. He was a member of Free Methodist 1903. He died after 1903.

     Reverend. Rev. John H. Smock was born on 20 January 1836 at Freehold, Monmouth County, New Jersey. He was the son of Henry Smock and Maria V. Boice. Rev. John H. Smock graduated in 1863 at Rutgers College. He graduated in 1866 at New Brunswick Seminary. He was minister between 1866 and 1871 at Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York. He married Catherine Van Nest Gaston, daughter of Oliver Berton Gaston and Sarah A. Wortman, on 12 June 1866. Rev. John H. Smock was ministered between 1871 and 1883 at Readington Reformed Church, Readington, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. He was ministered between 1883 and 1896 at Oyster Bay and Locust Valley, Long Island, New York. He was stated supply between 1896 and 1898 at the Reformed Church, Locust Valley, Long Island, New York. He died on 8 January 1903 at Locust Valley, New York, at age 66 years, 11 months and 19 days.

     Anna Maria Stewart also went by the name of Annie.¹ Her married name was Nichols. As 1st daughter, named after her father's mother, per Irish tradition. She was born on 2 July 1850 at Percy, Northumberland, Ontario, Canada.² She was the daughter of John Stewart Sr. and Jane Graham.

On 28 June 1870, Anna Maria Stewart was enumerated with John Stewart Sr. on the census at Huron, Wayne County, New York, Details provided: Anna, age 20, Domestic Servant, born in Canada.³

Anna Maria Stewart married John Learn Nichols on 5 March 1872 at Wayne County, New York.² Anna Maria Stewart died on 2 April 1903 at Seattle, King County, Washington, at age 52 years and 9 months.²

     Jane Maria Gaston was born on 27 September 1841 at Jamesburg, New Jersey. She was the daughter of Oliver Berton Gaston and Sarah A. Wortman. Jane Maria Gaston married George Henry Smock, son of Henry Smock and Maria V. Boice, on 3 November 1869. As of 3 November 1869,her married name was Smock. Jane Maria Gaston died on 3 November 1903 at age 62 years, 1 month and 7 days.

     Permelia Ryker was born in 1816. She was the daughter of Jerodus Ryker and Martisha Wilhoite. As of 1836,her married name was Carr. Permelia Ryker married John Carr in 1836. Permelia Ryker died in 1904 at age 88 years.

     William Smock was born on 9 April 1832. He was the son of Peter Wayne Smock and Rebecca Taylor. William Smock married Susannah Anderson, daughter of Samuel Anderson, before 1855. William Smock died on 12 March 1904 at age 71 years, 11 months and 3 days.

     Rebecca Lavinia Forester was born on 18 March 1829. She was born on 18 March 1829 at England. She was the daughter of William Forester and Sara Jane Caldwell. Rebecca Lavinia Forester died on 1 April 1904 at Portland, Multnoma County, Oregon, at age 75 years and 14 days. She died on 1 April 1904 at Portland, Multnoma County, Oregon, at age 75 years and 14 days.

     Fayette Richardson was born on 6 March 1880 at Stittsville, Michigan. She was the daughter of Oscar M. Richardson and Christina Olive Stewart. Fayette Richardson appeared on the census of June 1880 in the household of Oscar M. Richardson at Pioneer Township, Missaukee County, Michigan; Missaukee County Michigan 1880 Census, Supervisor's Dist 2, Enumerator's District 181, Enumerator T.F.Caldwell & John Volgel, Township: Pioneer Township, Categories: Last Name, First Name, Color, Sex, Age, Born in year, Relationship to Head of House: "Richardson O.W. W M 31 Head, Kit W F 26 Wife, Jennie W F 4 Dau, Fayette W F 3/12 Feb. Dau." Fayette Richardson died on 28 August 1904 at age 24 years, 5 months and 22 days.

     Aaron A. Smock was born in 1821. He was the son of Aaron Smock and Sarah Conover Schanck. Aaron A. Smock married Catherine Jane Whitlock, daughter of John Whitlock Jr. and Mary Schenck, circa 1844. Aaron A. Smock died in 1905 at age 84 years.

     Margaret Ellen Weedin was born in 1839. She married Henry Anselm Scomp, son of William Scomp and Sarah Lloyd Minor, in 1869. As of 1869,her married name was Scomp. Margaret Ellen Weedin died in 1905 at age 66 years.

     Peter Runyon Boice was born in 1832. He married Sarah Elizabeth Schanck, daughter of Sidney Schanck and Sarah Ann Smock, in 1862. Peter Runyon Boice died in 1905 at age 73 years.

     Catherine Jane Whitlock was born in 1826. She was the daughter of John Whitlock Jr. and Mary Schenck. Catherine Jane Whitlock married Aaron A. Smock, son of Aaron Smock and Sarah Conover Schanck, circa 1844. As of circa 1844,her married name was Smock. Catherine Jane Whitlock died in 1905 at age 79 years.
