Hannah Elizabeth Knight died on 26 January 1895 at Clyde Township, Whiteside County, Illinois, at age 73 years, 10 months and 10 days. Her obit shows 1896 NOT 1895. Cause of death was pneumonia. Hannah Elizabeth Knight was buried in Morrison, Whiteside County, Illinois. Her obit shows1896 not 1895. Grove Hill Cemetery, her obit shows Clyde Cemetery.

John Stewart Sr. was born on 14 August 1825 at Percy Township, Northumberland, Ontario, Canada. Perhaps a baptism?2 He married Jane Graham, daughter of Andrew Graham and Catherine Robinson, on 8 July 1847 at Ontario, Canada.2 John Stewart Sr. and Jane Graham were a Wesleyan Methodist.3 John Stewart Sr. and Jane Graham lived between 13 October 1860 and 27 December 1860 at Carden, in Bexley, Carden, Laxton Township, Colborne District, Victoria County, Ontario, Canada.3 John Stewart Sr. immigrated to New York arriving 1866.4 He was the driver of a tow team of horses pulling barges up and down the Eire Canal at New York.5 He accompanied the immigration of James Henry Stewart in 1868 to United States.6 John Stewart Sr. accompanied the immigration of John Wesley Stewart in 1870 to United States.7

On 28 June 1870, John Stewart Sr. was Head of Household on the census at Huron, Wayne County, New York, Details provided: Stewart, John, age 45, Farmer, $400 personal estate, born in Canada. Enumerated with him were Jane Graham, Anna Maria Stewart, Louise Stewart, Christina Olive Stewart, James Henry Stewart, William Andrew Stewart, John Wesley Stewart, Mary Catherine Stewart, Richard Manly Stewart and Ellen Amava Stewart.8

John Stewart Sr. was a lumberjack at the north central part of the Michigan, west of Saginaw Bay, Mount Pleasant, Oakland County, Michigan. He relocated to Puget Sound, King, Washington, between 1880 and 1885; He left his wife, Jane Graham, and the children, in Michigan and went to the Puget Sound area (of Washington State) to follow the logging trade.

On 1 June 1880, John Stewart Sr. was Head of Household on the census at Isabella, Isabella County, Michigan, Details provided: "Male, married, White, age 57, born in Ontario, occupation Farmer, father born in Scotland, mother born in Germany". Enumerated with him were Jane Graham, John Wesley Stewart, Richard Manly Stewart and Mary Catherine Stewart.9

John Stewart Sr. proved his timber skills in 1893 at the World Fair, Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. He was one of the lumbermen, who with axes and saws, fabricated a four by four by 100 foot long timber as a sample of Puget Sound lumber. He was a logger, moving camp to camp before 1897. Even into his 70's he could still wear his sons out. He once told his grandson, Ralph Leon, this being in his 70's, "Son, if you are going to ride the saw, at least don't drag your feet!" He relocated to Daisy, Stevens County, Washington, circa 1897; retired. He died on 13 December 1899 at Rockland Ranch, Daisy, Stevens County, Washington, at age 74 years, 6 months and 29 days. Died of pneumonia.2,1 John Stewart Sr. was buried in Fairview Cemetery, Gifford, Stevens County, Washington.10
