     Lydia Abigail Duncan and George W. Knight Sr. were IF G. W. KNIGHT BURIED WITH GEORGE W KNIGHT IS A SON, THEN THE MARR DATE IS BEFORE 1810.. Lydia Abigail Duncan was buried in Duncan Alexander Cemetery, Northport, Waldo County, Maine. She is buried with her Parents, in the Lower Cemetery, Lincolnville, Maine. They all have headstones. Her married name was Knight. She was Illinois census records indicate that she was born in Maine, however CC Knight's dtr Elizabeth Heckerman-Flanders in her statement on CC's DC said she was born in England. She was mistaken!
My Grandmother Lillie Willis-Thorne, used to tease my Grandfather. saying 'You don't want me to get my Scotch up, do you?' Yes Scotch not Irish. Would this indicate that her Scotch bloodline came to her through her GGrandmother, Lydia Abigail Duncan-Knight?
Lydia Abigail Duncan-Knight had a son named William Henry Knight. William had a daughter named Bernice B. Knight. She married a GEORGE W. DUNCAN, born 1837 in Maine!!! This is NO coincidence. This is an additional clue to the correct identity of our Lydia Abigail Duncan. Thus far, I have seen nothing that verifies her Father as being Robert Duncan. I have no firm info on the Duncan Family, other than their were Duncan's living right next to Captain Thomas Knight. The Family seems to have included a Robert, a John & a Samuel. At this point we don,t know which of the Duncan Boys were her Father.
I have no idea why she is so important to me. But, I want to know her ancestery.
From GED file (and research of) Philip V. Thorne. She was born circa 1789 at Maine. She married George W. Knight Sr., son of Captain Thomas Knight and Abigail Sealy, on 24 December 1809 at Northport, Waldo County, Maine. Lydia Abigail Duncan died on 5 March 1831 at Waldo County, Maine. She died when son Chas C. was only 5 years old. Her Headstone gives date of death as 5 March 1829, not 1831. All our records show Alexander, her last child as being born in 1831. Penobscot Marine Museum thinks that Headstone was placed much later & they got the wrong year.

     Phoebe Millard was born in 1780 at Pittsfield, Massachusetts.¹ She was the daughter of Doctor Abiather Millard and Tabitha Hopkins.¹ Phoebe Millard married Nathaniel Fillmore circa 1796.¹ Phoebe Millard died on 2 May 1831 at Cayuga County, New York, at age 51 years.¹

     Cornelius Sebern was born on 26 September 1824 at Jefferson County, Kentucky. He was the son of John V. Sebern and Catherine Smock. Cornelius Sebern died on 23 June 1831 at Jefferson County, Kentucky, at age 6 years, 8 months and 28 days.

     James Rush was born on 8 May 1829. He was the son of Doctor Samuel Rush and Nancy (Anne) Wilmer. James Rush died on 30 December 1831 at infancy at age 2 years, 7 months and 22 days.

     Lydia Bowne was born in 1737. She was the daughter of Samuel Bowne and Esther (?). Lydia Bowne married John Whitlock circa 1757. As of circa 1757,her married name was Whitlock. Lydia Bowne died in 1832 at age 95 years.

     Phebe Smock was is not recorded in the DAR as being the child of Lt. Col. John Smock, who is otherwise recorded many times. However, the John Smock who is recorded, from whom all the DAR members descend from, is not the real Lt. Colonel. The real Lt. Col. John Smock was in fact the cousin of John's, with the same name, who married Femmetje Teunison, and Phebe is therefore the daughter of the real Lt. Col. John Smock.. She was born on 22 November 1768 at Middletown, Monmouth County, New Jersey. She was the daughter of Lieut-Col. John Smock and Femmetje Teunison. Phebe Smock married Gilbert Longstreet, son of Capt. Garret Longstreet and Cathrina Smock, circa 1792. Phebe Smock died in 1832 at age 63 years.

     Her married name was Schanck. Sarah Smock was born on 2 December 1799. She was the daughter of George Smock and Margaret Van Deventer. Sarah Smock married David Schanck, son of John Schanck and Mary Denise, circa 1818. Sarah Smock died on 2 February 1832 at age 32 years and 2 months.

     Pieter Banta married Elizabeth Cozine. Pieter Banta was born on 9 February 1755 at Somerset County, New Jersey. He was the son of Hendrick Banta and Antje Demarest. Pieter Banta died on 11 May 1832 at Mercer County, Kentucky, at age 77 years, 3 months and 2 days.

     David Rush married Mary Lewis at Somerset County, New Jersey. David Rush was born circa 1772 at New Jersey. He was the son of Michael Rush Sr. and ? Bisset. David Rush was Unknown GEDCOM info: Moved to in 1805 at Morris Township, Greene County, Pennsylvania. He died on 26 July 1832.

     Timothy Cowles was born on 16 May 1754 at Farmington, Hartford County, Connecticut. He was the son of Asa Cowles and Sarah (?). Timothy Cowles married Abigail Woodsworth, daughter of Constant Woodsworth and N. N. Auchison, on 25 May 1775 at Coventry, Tolland County, Connecticut. Timothy Cowles died on 29 November 1832 at C, New Hampshire, at age 78 years, 6 months and 13 days.

     Mary Underwood was born circa 1800 at Kentucky.¹ She married Stephen W. Stalcup, son of Eli Stalcup and Mary Gambling, circa 1821? At Sumner County, Tennessee; His 2nd.² Mary Underwood died before 1833.³

     John Hoffman Jr. was born circa 1754.¹ He was the son of John Hoffman Sr. and Rebecca (?).² John Hoffman Jr. lived in 1774 at Rariton Township, about three miles west from Flemington, New Jersey.² He married Rebecca Rounseval in August 1774.² John Hoffman Jr. died in 1833.²

     Rebecca Rounseval was born in 1754.¹ She married John Hoffman Jr., son of John Hoffman Sr. and Rebecca (?), in August 1774.¹ Rebecca Rounseval died in 1833 at age 79 years.¹

     King Ferdinand VII of Spain was born in 1784.³ He was the son of King Charles IV of Spain.² King Ferdinand VII of Spain died in 1833 at age 49 years.³

     William Rush was Sculpter and woodcarver. He was born on 4 July 1756 at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.¹ He was the son of Joseph Rush and Rebecca Lincoln.¹ William Rush married Martha Wallace on 14 December 1780. William Rush died on 17 January 1833 at age 76 years, 6 months and 13 days.¹

     Clayton Hollinshead was born on 30 July 1811 at Ontario, Canada. He was the son of Jacob Hollinshead Jr. and Mary Haines. Clayton Hollinshead died on 12 March 1833 at Ontario, Canada, at age 21 years, 7 months and 12 days.

     Abraham Garfield was born on 28 December 1799 at Worcester, New York.¹ He married Eliza Ballou, daughter of James Ballou IV and Mehitable Ingalls, on 3 February 1820 at Zanesville, Ohio.² Abraham Garfield died on 8 May 1833 at Otsego County, New York, at age 33 years, 4 months and 10 days.¹

     Also called Levi Hayward.¹ Levi Howard was born on 15 September 1752.¹ He was the son of Benjamin Hayward Jr. and Mary Wheaton.¹ Levi Howard married Bethiah Chapin, daughter of John Chapin Jr. and Rhoda Albee, before 1792.¹ Levi Howard died on 14 May 1833 at Townshend, Vermont, at age 80 years, 7 months and 29 days.¹

     Catherine Smock was born on 22 March 1810 at Jefferson County, Indiana. She was the daughter of Samuel V. Smock and Rachel Ryker. Catherine Smock died on 13 June 1833 at age 23 years, 2 months and 22 days.

     Samuel V. Smock was born on 7 October 1776 at Carlisle, Berkeley County, Virginia. He was the son of Jacob Smock and Catherine Demaree. Samuel V. Smock was was present at the indian attack that saw his brother Matthias killed, and two brothers captured, he suffered only a wound to his arm, this occurring sometime between 1793 and 1794.

He relocated to Hanover, Jefferson County, Indiana, before 1833. He died on 5 July 1833 at Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana, at age 56 years, 8 months and 28 days. Or in Madison, Jefferson County, IN.

     Her married name was Kenedy. Ann Hollinshead was born on 19 March 1803 at Burlington County, New Jersey. She was the daughter of Jacob Hollinshead Jr. and Mary Haines. Ann Hollinshead married Daniel Kenedy on 5 September 1821. Ann Hollinshead died in 1834 at York, Ontario, Canada, at age 30 years.

     Henry Plank was born in 1777. He was the son of John Plank and Nellie Gardinier. Henry Plank married Margaret Van Ingen, daughter of Joseph Van Ingen and Margaret Van Alstine, in 1802. Henry Plank died in 1834 at age 57 years.

     Peter Van Dorn married Jane Williamson. Peter Van Dorn was born in 1755 at Monmouth County, New Jersey.¹ He died in 1834 at Monmouth County, New Jersey, at age 79 years.¹

     John Schanck was born in 1745 at Pleasant Valley, Sussex County, New Jersey. He married Mary Denise in 1767. John Schanck died in 1834 at Holmdel, Monmouth County, New Jersey, at age 89 years.

     Also called Johannis Schamp. John Scomp was baptized on 17 August 1783 at the Reformed Dutch Church, Conewago Colony, York (now Adams) County, Pennsylvania; "Scamp, Jost and Maria Smack--Johannis."¹ He was the son of Pvt. George N. Schamp and Maria Smock. John Scomp was a witness where Maria Smock became worried and fearful due to famine and indian raids so she hired Isaac Huff to bring her with the colonists to their new home circa 1794 at Mercer County, Kentucky.² John Scomp married Docia Timmons on 29 January 1810 at Mercer County, Kentucky.³ John Scomp appeared on the tax list in 1824 at Mercer County, Kentucky.⁴ He removed to Knox County, Indiana, with his family circa 1828.

In 1830, John Scomp was Head of Household on the census at Knox County, Indiana, Details provided: He appears on the census as head-of-household containing 1 male, age 15-20 (Sam A. Jr.), 1 male, 20-30, 1 male 40-50 (himself), 1 female, 10-15 (Eliza), 1 female, 15-20, 1 female, 40-50 (his wife).. Enumerated with him were Docia Timmons, Eliza Schamp and Samuel Abraham Scomp.

John Scomp died in 1834 at Knox County, Indiana, at age 50 years.

     Also called Barent Smock. Barnes J. Smock was born on 29 January 1756 at Middletown, Monmouth County, New Jersey. He was the son of Lieut-Col. John Smock and Femmetje Teunison. Barnes J. Smock was baptized on 18 July 1756 at Freehold Dutch Church, Middletown, Monmouth County, New Jersey. He and Cornelius J. Smock filed pension applications based on their father's Revolutionary War army service. Barnes J. Smock's application number is S1108, and that of Cornelius is S29466. These two applications are found in the national archives.. Barnes J. Smock died on 30 January 1834 at age 78 years and 1 day.

     Also called Eleanor Van der veer. Eleanor Van Dorn was born on 3 April 1742. She was the daughter of Aaron Van Dorn and Antje Schenck. Eleanor Van Dorn married Capt. Hendrick Smock, son of Barnes Smock and Annatje Luyster, on 26 May 1761 at Freehold, Monmouth County, New Jersey.¹ As of 26 May 1761,her married name was Smock. As of after 1786,her married name was Hendrickson. Eleanor Van Dorn married Garrett Hendrickson after 1786. Eleanor Van Dorn died on 11 February 1834 at age 91 years, 10 months and 8 days. Eleanor Van Dorn was buried in Pleasant Valley (Schenck and Couwenhoven) Cemetery, Holmdel, Monmouth County, New Jersey. Smock, Eleanor, widow of Hendrick; widow of Garret Hendrickson; dau. Of Aaron and Ann Van Dorn, d. Feb 11, 1834, aged 91y 10m 8d, from the Book of the Dead of Monmouth.

     Julia Roberts Rush was born on 7 May 1828 at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Doctor William Rush and Elizabeth Fox Roberts. Julia Roberts Rush died on 6 July 1834 at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at age 6 years, 1 month and 29 days.

     Elisha Sheppard was born on 16 July 1750 at Millstone, Somerset County, New Jersey. DAR record said 1741. He married Alletta Allis Smock, daughter of John Smock and Elizabeth Conover, in 1769. Elisha Sheppard served in the American Revolutionary war, as a sergeant in the Jersey militia in Captain Thomas Hunn's Company. He was taken prisoner and confined in New York. His period of service was circa 1777. He died on 11 August 1834 at Lockland, Hamilton County, Ohio, at age 84 years and 26 days.

     Peter Stalcup was born on 29 September 1763 at New Castle County, Delaware. He was the son of Private William Stalcop and Margareta Anderson. Peter Stalcup accompanied Private William Stalcop when William relocated before 1768 and came to reside in Orange County, North Carolina. Peter Stalcup died circa 1835 at Orange County, Indiana.

     Aaron Smock was born on 24 July 1783. He was the son of Hendrick Smock and Sarah Lane. Aaron Smock was baptized on 12 October 1783. He married Sarah Conover Schanck, daughter of Garret Schanck and Sarah Conover, on 28 November 1804. Aaron Smock served in the War of 1812 sometime between 1812 and 1813. He witnessed the will of Hendrick Smock in 1814 at Freehold Township, Monmouth County, New Jersey; [To] wife, Sarah, horses and chair, one room with fireplace, firewood, looking glass, the negro girl, Lyd, 2 beds and bedding, household goods as she chooses; also $600 to be at her disposal. Eldest daughter, Elizabeth (wife of Peter P. Schenck), Sarah (wife of Tunis D. DuBois), Jane, (wife of Joseph Vanderveer), and Ann (wife of John Conover), each $1000, deducting thereof anything heretofore advance. Each legacy to be paid as they reach the age of 28. I have heretofore provided for two eldest sons, John and Aaron. To 3rd son, Garret, and the 4th son, Hendrick, all residue of my estate not disposed of. Garret to have 2/3 of benefit of said estate until Hendrick is 21, and then to be divided equally. Executors--three sons, John, Aaron and Garret. Witnesses--Aaron Pitney, Garrit G. Vanderveer, James Covert.¹ Aaron Smock died in 1835 at age 51 years.

     Also called Katherine. Catherine Carnine was born in 1784. She was the daughter of Sergeant Peter Carnine and Mary Seburn. Catherine Carnine married John Smock, son of Jacob Smock and Catherine Demaree, on 27 March 1800 at Mercer County, Kentucky.¹ As of 27 March 1800,her married name was Smock.¹ Catherine Carnine died in 1835 at age 51 years.

     Daniel Thayer settled first at Westmoreland, Cheshire County, New Hampshire.¹ He was born in 1758.¹ He was the son of Ensign Samuel Thayer and Keziah Partridge.¹ Daniel Thayer resettled, 11.4 miles south of Richmond (and 26.4 miles south, south-east of Westmoreland) in 1780 at Orange, Franklin County, Massachusetts.¹ He died in 1835 at Westmoreland, Cheshire County, Massachusetts, at age 77 years.¹

     Hannah Austin was born posthumous to her father's death in the service in January 1756. She was born on 13 March 1756 at Dracut, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.^1,2 She was the daughter of Nathan Austin and Hannah Farnum.¹ Hannah Austin married Asa Morse, son of Benjamin Morse and Lydia Foster, on 16 December 1773 at Atkinson, New Hampshire.^1,3,2,4 Hannah Austin died after 1835.^1,5 Hannah Austin was buried in Salmon Hole Cemetery, near Lisbon, New Hampshire.^1,5

     Michael Rush Sr. was born in 1747 at Somerset County, New Jersey. He was the son of Peter Rush Sr. and Margaret ?. Michael Rush Sr. married ? Bisset circa 1771. Michael Rush Sr. was Unknown GEDCOM info: Moved to after 1771 at Mendham, Morris County, New Jersey. He was Unknown GEDCOM info: Moved to in 1797 at Washington County, Pennsylvania. He died in February 1835 at Pennsylvania at age 88 years.

     Asa Morse was born on 11 March 1755 at Methuen, Essex County, Massachusetts.³ He was the son of Benjamin Morse and Lydia Foster.² Asa Morse was only four when his father died in 1759. He married Hannah Austin, daughter of Nathan Austin and Hannah Farnum, on 16 December 1773 at Atkinson, New Hampshire.^3,4,5,2 Asa Morse married in Atkinson, NH, a town that lies 7-8 miles north of Methuen. He is most likey the Asa Morse that served in the Revolutionary War, enlisting in Capt. John Davis' Company, in Col. Frye's Regt., out of Methuen on 14 February 1775.⁶ He moved in the late 90's to the northern part of New Hampshire, near Lisbon.² He died in 1815 at age 59 years. He may have died during an epidemic along wth some of his children.⁷ Asa Morse was buried in Salmon Hole Cemetery, near Lisbon, New Hampshire.⁷ He moved to Windham in the Castskill Mountains (!?) at Greene County, New York.⁸ He died in February 1835 at Windham, Greene County, New York, at age 79 years and 10 months.^3,8

     Also called Zillah.¹ Lillah Hollinshead was born on 22 February 1762 at Burlington County, New Jersey.^1,2 She was the daughter of Jacob Hollinshead Sr. and Mary Hollinshead. Lillah Hollinshead married John Hollinshead on 5 December 1787.¹ Lillah Hollinshead died in March 1835 at age 73 years.

     Leonard Smock was baptized on 15 April 1762 at Fayette County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Leonard Smock and Ann Fulkarson. Leonard Smock married Jane Wayne circa 1787 at New Jersey. Leonard Smock relocated to Crawford County, Pennsylvania, in 1800. He died on 10 April 1835 at Fairfield, Crawford County, Pennsylvania, at age 72 years, 11 months and 26 days.² Leonard Smock was buried in the Conneaut Cemetery, Crawford County, Pennsylvania.²

     Joel Thomson was born on 13 February 1770 at Bellingham, Norfolk County, Massachusetts.¹ He was the son of Caleb Thomson and Lydia Aldin.² Joel Thomson married Ruth Thayer, daughter of Silas Thayer and Lydia Thayer, on 7 November 1794 at Bellingham, Norfolk County, Massachusetts.³ Joel Thomson married Ruth Thayer, daughter of Silas Thayer and Lydia Thayer, on 1 January 1795 at Bellingham, Norfolk County, Massachusetts; 2nd cousins.¹ Joel Thomson died on 13 September 1835 at Bellingham, Norfolk County, Massachusetts, at age 65 years and 7 months.¹

     Morris Corwin was born circa 1780. He married Mary Smock, daughter of Barnes Smock and Jane Berdine, on 18 June 1807 at Brownville, Redstone Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania; Service performed by Esq. Elias Baillins. Morris Corwin relocated to Belle Vernon, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, on 1 April 1816. He died on 20 September 1835 at Belle Vernon, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.

     Rulef Smock was born on 20 November 1769. He was the son of John Smock and Elizabeth Conover. Rulef Smock married Mary Van Dorn circa 1798. Rulef Smock was inherited the ancestral Smock Homestead in 1808 at Holmdel, Monmouth County, New Jersey. He died on 21 September 1835 at age 65 years, 10 months and 1 day.

     Garret Smock was never married. He was born on 11 December 1797. He was the son of George Smock and Margaret Van Deventer. Garret Smock was baptized on 14 January 1798 at the First Reformed Church, Raritan (Somerville), Somerset County, New Jersey.¹ He died on 8 December 1835 at age 37 years, 11 months and 27 days.

     Eleanor Reeder was born circa 1768 at Bucks County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Joseph Reeder and Dorothy Sutton. As of circa 1790,her married name was Galloway. Eleanor Reeder married Samuel Galloway circa 1790. Eleanor Reeder died in 1836 at Edinboro, Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

     Francis Decowe married William Rush, son of William Rush and Elizabeth Hodges. Her married name was Rush. Francis Decowe was born in 1722. She died before 8 February 1836. Francis Decowe was buried in First Presbyterian Church, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

     Josias (Josiah) Forester (Forster) was born in 1776. He married Martha (?) in 1790. Josias (Josiah) Forester (Forster) died on 19 February 1836 at Fairview Township, Erie County, Pennsylvania, at age 60 years.

     George Smock was born on 24 November 1754 at Smock homestead, Holmdel, Monmouth County, New Jersey. He was the son of John Smock and Elizabeth Conover. George Smock was baptized on 22 December 1754 at the Dutch Reformed Church, Freehold, Monmouth County, New Jersey. He served in the American Revolution as a private in the New Jersey State Militia sometime between 1776 and 1780. He married Sarah Covenhoven on 4 May 1779. George Smock lived after 1793 at The Island Farm, Bound Brook, Somerset County, New Jersey. He married Margaret Van Deventer, daughter of Jacob Van Deventer and Sarah Brokaw, on 27 November 1794. George Smock was owner/proprieter of land. He relocated to Atlantic Township, Monmouth County, New Jersey, in 1818. He was left the land in Montgomery County, Ohio to his children Peter, Aaron, and Jane between 1835 and 1836. He died on 5 June 1836 at age 81 years, 6 months and 12 days. George Smock was buried in the Family Farm Burying Ground, Holmdel, Monmouth County, New Jersey.²

     Rutherford Hayes was born on 29 July 1756 at Branford, Connecticut.^1,2 He married Chloe Smith, daughter of Colonel and Deacon Israel Smith and Abigail Chandler, in 1779 at Windsor, Connecticut.^1,2 Rutherford Hayes died on 25 September 1836 at West Brattleboro, Vermont, at age 80 years, 1 month and 27 days.^1,2

     Catherine Thayer was born circa 1795. She married Alpheus Thayer Jr., son of Captain Alpheus Thayer and Elizabeth Bates, on 19 April 1818 at Bellingham, Norfolk County, Massachusetts.¹ Catherine Thayer died on 2 November 1836 at Bellingham, Norfolk County, Massachusetts. She died aged 41.²
