Godmother: Katherin Tayer.1,2,3 He was the son of Thomas Tayer of Braintree and Margery Wheeler.1 Shadrach Tayer married Mary Barrett on 11 February 1654 at Braintree, Massachusetts.4,5,6 Shadrach Tayer married Deliverence Priest circa 1661 at Braintree, Massachusetts; His 2nd.4,3 Shadrach Tayer witnessed the will of Thomas Tayer of Braintree on 21 June 1664 at Braintree, Suffolk County, Massachusetts Colony, New England; "I, Thomas Thayer, of Braintree, in the County of Suffolk, in the Massachusetts Colony, of New England, shoe maker, being in perfect health and memory, praised be to God, this 21 of June, A. D. 1664, doe make this last Will and Testament..." To his wife Margery "... all my lands, goods and estate, whatsoever, situate, lying and being in Braintree." To his son Thomas "... all that my ground lying and being over the Monotoquott River, within the limits of the said town of Braintree." To his son Ferdinanda "... my house and orchard thereunto belonging, lying, and being in Braintree." To his son Shadrach "... a parcel of ground in Braintree."1,7 Shadrach Tayer died on 19 October 1678 at Braintree, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, at age 49 years, 5 months and 9 days.4,3

Gysbetje Coerton died before 1679.

Andries Luycaszen was "upper boatswain" on the ship named Key of Calmar in 1638. He was used as an interpreter with the Native Americans. He was he made a legal declaration regarding Scott's Raid, and therein stated his age as 53 on 28 September 1648 at New Amsterdam, New Netherlands, America.1 He died in 1680.

     Anthony Wright was born circa 1600 at Norfolk, England.1 He was the son of Nicholas Wright III and Margaret Nelson. Anthony Wright left a will on 20 May 1673 at Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York.1 He died on 8 September 1680 at Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York. He never married. "Having always led an unblemished life, he was beloved and respected by all his townsmen, and his memory was long cherished among them, and sought to be perpetuated in the bestowal of his name to the brook which flowed through the village, near his house - for many years called Anthony's Brook, the bridge over it being also known as Anthony's Bridge."1,2 His estate was probated on 8 December 1680 at Jamaica, Long Island, New York; The will was proved at a court of sessions at Jamaica, Dec 8, 1680. He died with no known children.1

     Also called Goosen Gerritse Van Schaick.4 Captain Goosen Gerritsz was one of New Netherland's most enterprising business men and agriculturists, being prominently connected with the founding of Niew Dorp, (Hurley, N. Y.) and Halve Maan, in the present Saratoga County at New York.1 He was a witness where Gerrit Reyerse a trader in company with his half brother Goosen Gerritse Van Schaick.4 Captain Goosen Gerritsz was born circa 1611 at the Netherlands. He was the son of Gerrit Van Schaick and Maritie Barentse.4,5 Captain Goosen Gerritsz lived before 1636 at Westerbroeck; [Westbroek, province of Utrecht?].6 He emigrated from the Texel, Holland, leaving 8 October 1636; He probably sailed on the "Rensselaerswyck."6 He immigrated to New Amsterdam, America, arriving 4 March 1637.6 He began earning wages on 8 April 1637 at Rensselaerswyck, New Netherlands.6 He was engaged for six years, three years at f50 a year and three years at f80 a year, between 8 April 1637 and 1642 at Rensselaerswyck, New Netherlands.3 He was charged with f19:9 (received in Holland on Nov. 3, 1645) in 1646 at Rensselaerswyck, New Netherlands.6 He was charged, per the accounts, with f32 a year for ground rent of a house and license to trade between 1648 and 1652 at Rensselaerswyck, New Netherlands.6 He pleaded to be excused, on the repeated solicitation by the director to accept the place of gerechts persoon (member of the court), on the ground that he did not consider himself fit for the office, that he was not possessed of a house and lot and therefore not bound to serve, and that he had not yet settled all his accounts with the patroon in October 1648 at Rensselaerswyck, New Netherlands.6 He was finally yielded, his objections having been overruled and he was urged once more to accept the office, the court, in case of refusal, threatening to proceed to other measures, on condition that he be first allowed to make a trip to the Manhatans, which was granted, and he took the oath as a mamber of the court on 19 November 1648 at Rensselaerswyck, in the neighborhood of Albany, New Netherlands, America.6 He lived in 1649 at Beverwyck.1 He was a Brewer in 1649.7 He married Geertje Barents in 1649; His 2nd?7,5 Captain Goosen Gerritsz was charged, per the accounts, jointly with Rutger Jacobsz, with f450 for the lease of the brewery between May 1649 and May 1650 at Rensselaerswyck, New Netherlands.6 He was granted permission to become a tapster on 18 July 1650 at Rensselaerswyck, New Netherlands.6 He was appointed, along with Arent van Curler, as trustee of a fund for the building of a school on 9 September 1650 at Rensselaerswyck, New Netherlands.6 He was released, on his urgent demand, from his office on 5 January 1651 at Rensselaerswyck, New Netherlands.6 Oath of Fidelity to the Patroon on 28 November 1651 at Rensselaerswyck, New Netherlands, America.2 He took the Oath of Fidelity to the Patroon on 28 November 1651 at Rensselaerswyck, New Netherlands, America.2 He first appeared in Albany circa 1652 at New Netherlands.5 He was charged with, jointly with Thomas Jansz, an annual rent of f40, for a small piece of land situated opposite "den sack" between 1 May 1655 and 1 May 1658 at Rensselaerswyck, New Netherlands.6 He made, being about to marry his second wife, a contract in which he reserved from his estate 6000 guilders for his four eldest children by the first wife, that being her separate estate in 1657.8 He married Annetje Lievense in July 1657; His 3rd?7,5 Captain Goosen Gerritsz entered into an agreement with Jeremias van Rensselaer regarding the purchase of hides of cattle to be killed in the colony, showing that by that time he was engaged in the tanning business on 19 July 1659 at Rensselaerswyck, New Netherlands.6 He was occasionally referred to as Goossen Gerritsz van Schaick after 1660.6 He bought a lot 6 R. by 4 R. of his stepfather Reyer Elbertse, on the north corner of Columbia street and Broadway in 1664.7 He had permission, along with Philip Pieterse Schuyler, to purchase the Halve Maan of the Indians to prevent "those of Connecticut" purchasing it in 1664.7 He left a will in 1668; He made a joint will with his second wife, he being about to depart for Holland, and mentioned the following children: Geertie, Gerrit, Sybrant, Anthony, and by his second wife Gerritie, Engeltie, Livinus, Cornelis, and Margarita.9 He witness to the sale of property by Jurejan Tunsen, and referred to as Goosen Gerritse [Van Schaick], on 30 March 1671 at Albany, New York.10 He purchased, with Pieter Lassingh, Harmen Rutger's brewery on the Exchange block in 1675.7 He died before 1681.5

Her 2nd (widow).1,2,3 Elizabeth (?) left a will on 20 October 1674 at Middlesex County, Massachusetts; In her will, Elizabeth Phillips bequeathed to "my son Sam[ue]ll Phillips all my Latin & Greek & Hebrew books that is now in the house"; to Job Bishop one shilling; to "James Barnard which married my daughter Abiel" one shilling; residue to "my three sons, namely Zorobabel Phillips & Jonathan Phillips & Theophilus Phillips to be equally divided between those three, but in case my son Zorobabel should die without children lawfully begotten by his own body," his share to be divided between his brothers Jonathan and Theophilus Phillips, who are to be executors of this will.4 She died on 27 January 1681 at Watertown, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.5 Her estate was probated on 4 October 1681 at Middlesex County, Massachusetts.4

Newton before 1623; Ellen's 1st marriage, and hence the name Newton? Ellen Newton immigrated to Plymouth Colony, Massachusetts, arriving 1623; She arrived in the New World on the ship "Anne," third to the "Mayflower" and "Fortune" at the Plymouth Colony, and therefore counted among the "First Comers."      Johan Gustafsson was progenitor of numerous Justice, Justis and Justus descendants in America.2 He was born circa 1613 at Kinnekulle, above Lake Vänern, Skaraborg län, Sweden.2,1 He came from Kinnekulle, a large wooded hill or plateau, nine miles long and four miles across, rising 860 feet above Lake Vänern in central Sweden.2 He was the son of Gustaf of Sweden. Johan Gustafsson sailed for the New World on the ship Swan with the new governor Printz on 1 November 1642 at Gottenburg, Sweden. He came to New Sweden on the "Swan" with Govenor Printz, as a soldier in the fourth expedition, on 15 February 1643.2,1 He was initially stationed at Fort Elfsborg, commonly called "Fort Mosquito" by the men living there, in March 1643 at the east side of the Delaware River, near the present town of Salem, New Jersey.2 He was promoted to the position of gunner by the new Governor, Rising, and transferred to Fort Trinity in 1654 at New Castle, Delaware.2,1 He married Brita Månsdotter, daughter of Måns Andersson, in 1654 at Fort Trinity, New Castle County, Delaware.2,1 Johan Gustafsson was present, as a soldier stationed there, when Captain Sven Skute surrendered Fort Trinity (New Castle) to the Dutch in 1655.1 He decided to join his countrymen in the new, self-governing "Swedish Nation" located north of the Christina River after the surrender of New Sweden to the Dutch after September 1655.2 He was established his plantation on the banks of the Schuylkill River. The English patent for this plantation named him John "Eustas" and described the tract as including 150 acres on 16 May 1669 at Kingsessing (West Philadelphia).2 As of 16 May 1669, also called John Eustas Per the English patent for this plantation, dated 16 May 1669.2 He expanded his holdings to some 300 acres before 1682.2 He died circa 1682 at Kingsessing (West Philadelphia), Pennsylvania. Survived by his wife Brita and eleven children.2,1

Loving wife Sarah confirmed in the agreement I made with her before marriage, and having allowed her the annuity belonging to her by the will of her former husband which she hath reserved to her own proper use, I do allow it to her, and her right not to be questioned; also I give her my great chest and the highest chair in the room wherein we live; both of which she is to restore again at her death or if she shall marry again; also all the money I leave, and not to be accountable to anyone; to live and dwell in the house, enjoying the parlor wholly for one year. To eldest son John Adams (besides what has been given him) œ20 to be paid by executor within 12 months. To son Isaac Adams œ5 by the year during life in good merchantable pay, as English corn, pork, beef, and such like; also my wearing clothes, and the bed in the north garret and all the furniture belonging to it, and the least brass pot and pot-hooks, and liberty to make use of said garret during life unless he marry, then he shall leave it. Son Abraham and his son Robert to be joint executors of will. Son Abraham to have full power to act alone as executor till his son Robert be of age. And though I appoint Robert Adams my heir after his father, Mary, wife of said Abraham, not to be debarred any just claim if left a widow. Further: to daughter Joanna Granger my pewter tankard and pewter bowl. To Mary, daughter of son Abraham, a box with lock and key, and six diaper knapkins. If Robert, son of Abraham, come into possession by reversion of my lands, he shall give to either of his two brothers now in being viz: Abraham and Isaac, œ20 apiece. Loving friends Mr. John Woodbridge and Mr. Nicholas Noyes both, of Newbury, to be overseers of this my will, and I give them two of the best wethers I have, to either of them one. He died at age 80.3,4 His estate was probated on 3 November 1682; INVENTORY:--An inventory of the estate of Robert Adams of Newbury, who deceased the 12th Oct., 1682, taken the 3rd of Nov., 1682, by Tristram Coffin and Caleb Moody. Amount: œ916 17s od returned into court 29, 9 mo. '82, by Abraham Adams, executor. Robert Adams was a tailor as well as farmer. The shears he used in his tailoring business are now (1885) in possession of Deborah Adams, wife of Rev. John Pike, of Rowley, and daughter of Col. Daniel Adams of Newbury. I saw and handled these shears at their house the 9th of Oct., 1873.--I. Smith Adams.4

     Cecily Penny and Deacon Samuel Chapin of Springfield were an ancestor of U.S. President Grover Cleveland.5 Also called Sisley So shown on some records.6 Cecily Penny was baptized on 21 February 1601/2 at Paignton, Devon, England.7,3,4 She was the daughter of Henry Penny of Paignton and Jane (?).2,3,1,4 Cecily Penny married Deacon Samuel Chapin of Springfield, son of John Chapin of Paignton and Phillipa Easton, on 9 February 1623/24 at Paignton, Devon, England.2,8,6,3,1,4 Cecily Penny was a Baker at Paignton, Devon, England.9 She appeared in the will of her father as Cicelly Chapin on 6 April 1630 at Paignton, Devon, England.4 She witnessed the will of Henry Penny of Paignton on 6 April 1630; In his will he made bequests to his daughter, Cicelly Chapin, his nephew [i.e. grandson], David Chapin, and to Katherine Chapin and Sarah Chapin. (This established the identity of the Samuel Chapin and wife Cicely of Paignton with the Samuel Chapin and wife Cicely of Springfield, Mass.).3,4 Cecily Penny lived with Deacon Samuel Chapin of Springfield in 1638 at Roxbury, Massachusetts.10,6,11 Springfield Records record her place in the Meeting House: "Goodwife Chapin is to sitt in the Seate alonge with Mrs Glover (minister's wife) and Mrs Hollyock."3 Cecily Penny died on 8 February 1682/83 at Springfield, Massachusetts, at age 80 years, 11 months and 18 days. His fifth child, Sarah, was born here.2 Annis Bayford died on 15 March 1683 at Roxbury, Massachusetts, at age 79 years, 9 months and 3 days.1

     Josiah Belcher of Boston was born in 1631.3 He was the son of Gregory Belcher of Braintree and Catherine Alcock.2 Josiah Belcher of Boston settled in Boston where he acquired an estate on the southeasterly corner of what is now (1906) Essex Street & Harrison Ave., measuring 126 feet on Essex Street and running back 285 feet to the water.3 He was a Wheelwright.3 He married Ranis Rainsford, daughter of Edward Rainsford of Boston and Elizabeth (?), on 3 March 1654/55 at Boston, Massachusetts; "Ransford, Ranus & Josiah Belcher, 3 day 1 Mo., 1655 by Capt. Humphrey Atharton."2,1,3,4 Josiah Belcher of Boston was a witness where Gregory Belcher of Braintree purchased of John Smith, 9 acres of land in Milton, which he gave to his son, Joseph Belcher, for a marriage portion on 14 July 1664.3 Josiah Belcher of Boston witnessed the will of Gregory Belcher of Braintree; The inventory of his estate, showing a total of 629 pounds 5 shillings, was represented by his widow, 29 Jan 1674/75, proved 20 Jul 1680; gives to son, Josiah, a cow ' if he molest not my son Moses in his present dwelling and posessions"; to son, John, a cow and a horse; to daughters, Elizabeth Gilbert & Mary Marsh, and granddaughter, Mary Marsh, some household effects; "to son Moses (who hath all his life carried himself so dutifully to myself and his father) the great Bible and the whole house and land he now possesses which I declare his father gave him." Sons, Moses Belcher & Alexander Marsh, executors.3 Josiah Belcher of Boston entered a caveat against the probate of any Will said to be made by his late mother, Catherine Belcher, of Braintree, widow deceased, until he be present on 9 July 1680.3 He died on 3 April 1683 at age 52 years. He died age 52.2,3 Josiah Belcher of Boston was buried in Granary Burying Ground. His gravestone still remained as of 1906.3

     Carl Jönsson was a Finn from Letstigen, Värmland, Sweden.1 He was a Freeman farmer. He was born circa 1608? At Letstigen, Värmland, Sweden.2,1,3 He was the son of Jön the Finn. Carl Jönsson immigrated to New Sweden Colony, Fort Christina, Delaware, arriving 1656; Arrived on the ship "Mercurius," the last expedition to the colony, which reached the Delaware River after New Sweden had fallen to the Dutch, travelling with his wife, a maid-servant, and three children.2,1 (an unknown value) between 1669 and 18 October 1669 at the Long Finn Rebellion, Delaware. He was fined 300 guilders for his participation in the Long Finn Rebellion between 1669 and 18 October 1669 at Delaware.1 He died after 17 October 1683. His name disappears from records on this date.1
