He was killed by Indians in the ambush of Capt. Thomas Wheeler's company. "On August 2, 1675, Sergeant Ayres, Sergeant Prichard, and Corporal Coy, inhabitants of Brookfield, were slain in the ambush known as Wheeler's Surprise. The rest of Wheeler's Company retreated back to Brookfield town, spreading the alarm among the inhabitants. They hastily fortified and occupied one of the largest and strongest houses, the Inn of John Ayres just slain in the ambush. This was to become the first day of 'The Siege of Brookfield' during King Philip's War. In the evening Samuel, a son of William Prichard, ventured out of the garrison to fetch some supplies from his father's house still standing near by. Samuel was killed just as he was leaving his house to return to the fortified house. His head was cut off and tossed about in view of the settlers and then set upon a pole against the door of his father's house. When Major Willard's mounted troop from Marlborough burst onto the scene on the third night, the Indians withdrew, but Brookfield was destroyed. The area was abandoned and its fields lay waste for 10 years."1,2

Also called Elizabeth.3 NOTES:
Mary Fienne's descent from Sir George Gregory Fienes came originally from the "Genealogy of the Wheatleigh Family", written in 1931.
Bruce Carpenter quoted a different source: According to the Dictionary of National Biography (British), Sir George Gregory Fienes had no children and his estates were taken over by his sister [Margaret]. Therefore the Mary listed on your page has no connection to royalty. Yours, Bruce Carpenter (descendant of Thomas Bliss)
But a more recent email points to Mary as the bastard daughter of Sir George Gregory Fienes: There is a website called simply Anne Sackville (B. Dacre of the South) that has information on Mary Fienes. The mother of Mary is not mentioned, but it is mentioned in this history that Anne Sackville would have nothing to do with Mary because she was a bastard daughter of her husband, George Gregory Fienes. The site is at http://www.tudorplace.com.ar/Bios/AnneSackville.htm. The person who did this research is Robin Kullick of the Bristol Renassaince Faire. In the article it mentions that Anne Sackville was from a very powerful and wealthy family, her father owning Salisbury Court - her father being Sir Richard Sackville a relation of the Boleyns. Her grandfather on her mother's side was the Lord Mayor of London - so I would imagine it would have been very difficult for a bastard daughter of a man who had so much less than his wife's family. It does mention that she married someone named Wheatley in the article.2 Elizabeth Bliss was baptized on 19 September 1615 at Daventry, Northamptonshire, England.4,5 She was the daughter of Thomas Bliss of Rehoboth and Dorothy Wheatleigh.2 Elizabeth Bliss came with her parents to America in 1638.4 She married Ensign Thomas Wilmarth on 18 September 1640 at Rehoboth, Bristol County, Massachusetts; His 1st.4,5 Elizabeth Bliss married Ensign Thomas Wilmarth on 30 October 1644 at Rehoboth, Bristol County, Massachusetts.6,7 Elizabeth Bliss died in 1676 at Rehoboth, Bristol County, Massachusetts, at age 60 years.8,4
