He began a trip to Granada; he stopped in Madrigalejo, the little site of the sanctuary of Guadalupe, where he died.1,3

     Archduke of Austria.2 King of Germany.2 Kaiser Maximilian I "der Letze Ritter" von Habsburg was eldest son of the emperor Frederick III and Eleanor of Portugal.2 He was born on 22 March 1459 at Wiener Neustadt, Austria.3,1 He was the son of Kaiser Friedrich III von Habsburg and Eleanore de Avis.2 Kaiser Maximilian I "der Letze Ritter" von Habsburg married Marie de Bourgogne, daughter of Charles "le Téméraire", duc de Bourgogne and Isabelle de Bourbon, on 18 August 1477 at Ghent, Belgium.4,5 Kaiser Maximilian I "der Letze Ritter" von Habsburg acquired, by his marriage to Mary, daughter of Charles the Bold, duke of Burgundy, the vast Burgundian possessions in the Netherlands and along the eastern frontier of France.6 He successfully defended his new domains against the attacks of Louis XI of France, defeating the French at the Battle of Guinegate in 1479.6 He was elected king of the Romans (heir to his father, the emperor) and crowned at Aachen on 9 April 1486.6 Holy Roman Emperor between 1493 and 1519.7 He made his family, the Habsburgs, dominant in 16th-century Europe.2 He died on 12 January 1519 at Wels, Austria, at age 59 years, 9 months and 21 days.8,9

He was the son of Henry, 2nd Duke of Buckingham and Catherine Wydeville.1 Edward, 3rd Duke of Buckingham saw the attainder of his father reversed on the accession of Henry VII in 1485.1 He married Eleanor Percy, Duchess of Buckingham, daughter of Henry Percy, 4th Earl of Northumberland and Maud Herbert, Countess of Northumberland, on 14 December 1490.3 Edward, 3rd Duke of Buckingham was made lord high constable, lord high steward, and a privy councilor after Henry VIII came to the throne in 1509.1 He died on 17 May 1521 at Tower Hill, London, England. He was arrested and tried on trumped-up charges that he had countenanced prophecies of his own succession to the throne and had expressed his intention to murder the king. He was executed.1
