     Richard "the Kingmaker", Earl of Warwick and Salisbury inherited the arms quartering his Neville line, differenced by a lable argent and azure, with the Salisbury and Monthermer titles and arms (Quarterly Argent, three fusils conjoined in fess gules and Gold an Eagle displayed Vert). He was born on 22 November 1428.1 He was the son of Richard "Prudence", Earl of Salisbury and Alice, Countess of Salisbury.1 Richard "the Kingmaker", Earl of Warwick and Salisbury married Anne Beauchamp, daughter of Richard (de Beauchamp), Earl of Warwick and Lady Isabel le Despencer, in 1434.2 Richard "the Kingmaker", Earl of Warwick and Salisbury added to his arms, by marriage with Anne, heiress of Richard Beauchamp, Earl of Warwick, quarterings including the arms of Beauchamp (gules a fess between six crosses crosslet or), those of the former Newburgh Earls of Warwick (Chequy or and azure a chevron ermine) and the arms of Clare (or three chevrons gules) and Despencer (quarterly argent and gules in the 2nd and 3rd quarters a fret or and overall a bend sable) in 1439.3 He was confirmed as Earl of Warwick in 1448.4 He was confirmed as Premier Earl of England, becoming "probably the most potent noble in the whole range of English history" on 23 July 1449.5 He was nominated into the Order of the Garter, #181, circa September 1460.6 He succeeded to the earldom of Salisbury on the death of his mother, on the assumption that the earldom created in 1337 passed on to heirs and was vested in her in 1462.4,7 He fell out of favor with King Edward IV and fled England for Calais in 1469 at France.8 War of Roses - York defeats Lancaster. Warwick, the Duke of Exeter, Earl of Oxford and Montagu, the Lancastrians faced Edward IV, Richard Duke of Gloucester and Lord Hastings, the Yorkists. The Lancastrians were winning until the battle became confused and the Earl of Oxford mistook Montagu's colors for those of Edward, and attacked him. The Lancastrians were defeated, Exeter died fighting, and Warwick died in the rout. On 14 April 1471 at Barnet, north of London,, Middlesex, England.9 He died on 14 April 1471 at the Battle of Barnet, England, at age 42 years, 4 months and 23 days. He is said to have drowned in a butt of Malmsey wine.4,2

War of Roses - Lancaster defeats York. Queen Margaret led a force of northerners south to meet Warwick at St. Albans. The Lancastrians win the engagement, but the Yorkists withdraw largely intact. On 17 February 1461 at 2nd St. Albans, Hertfordshire, England.3 War of Roses - York defeats Lancaster. Larger Lancastrian force attacks a Yorkist, weather, chance, and the later arrival of the Duke of Norfolk lead to a massacre of the Lancastrians. King Henry, Queen Margaret and Prince Edward escaped but the Earl of Northumberland died. Captured and beheaded were the earls of Devon and Wiltshire. On 29 March 1461 at the Battle of Towton, Yorkshire, England. War of the Roses - York defeats Lancaster. The Yorkists defeat the Lancastrians once and for all. Somerset, Wenlock, and Prince Edward all died, with many others. Queen Margaret retired to France. On 4 May 1471 at the Battle of Tewksbury, Gloucestershire, England.4 She died on 25 August 1482 at Chateau de Dampiere, near Saumur, France, at age 53 years, 5 months and 2 days.1 Margaret d' Anjou was buried in Angers Cathedral.1
