      Sir Henry "Hotspur" de Percy K.G. was born on 20 May 1364.⁴ He was the son of Henry de Percy, 1st Earl of Northumberland and Margaret de Nevill.^2,3 Sir Henry "Hotspur" de Percy K.G. was greatly distinguished himself and earned his sobriquet of "Hotspur" at the siege of Berwick Castle in 1378.³ He married Elizabeth de Mortimer, daughter of Edmund "the Good Earl" de Mortimer, 3rd Earl of March and Philippa, suo jure Countess of Ulster, circa 1 May 1380.⁴ Sir Henry "Hotspur" de Percy K.G. served later in further wars against the Scots and taken prisoner at the battle of Otterburn in 1388.³ He took part in the Battle of Otterburn in 1388. Hotspur, whilst engaged in personal combat in front of Newcastle, had been unhorsed and his pennon had been captured. The Scottish army thereupon retired up Redesdale, pursued by Hotspur and his brother Ralph, with an army of 600 knights and squires and 8,000 infantry. Hotspur insisted on making a night attack, the most hazardous of all military operations, without giving his men any rest after a march of 32 miles, and in consequence was totally defeated and taken prisoner. He was ransomed soon afterwards. He was nominated into the Order of the Garter, #77, before April 1388.³ He and Henry de Percy, 1st Earl of Northumberland were were suspected of harbouring treasonable designs against Richard II and were summoned to appear before the King in 1399. The Percys refused to do so, and were proclaimed traitors whereupon they and other powerful barons raised the standard of revolt, deposed Richard and placed Henry IV on the throne. Sir Henry "Hotspur" de Percy K.G. was saw continued fighting with the Scots which culminated in the defeat of the Scots under Douglas at Homildon Hill in 1402. He led the famous "Rising of the Percys" in 1403. Differences with the King concerning the ransom of prisoners taken in the battle of Homildon Hill and claims for certain payments due from the King to Northumberland led to this action. This uprising was immortalized by Shakespeare in his Henry IV. Percy Rebellion - Henry "Hotspur" Percy attacks a small royal force, under Prince Hal, who is reinforced by his fahter, and Henry is defeated and killed, his uncle, Earl of Worcester, captured and executed. On 21 July 1403 at the Battle of Shrewsbury, Hateley Field, England.⁵ He died on 21 July 1403 at the Battle of Shrewsbury at age 39 years, 2 months and 1 day. Killed in battle.^3,4

     Sir Walter Blount was the "Walterus Blount miles" who married "Sanchia de Ayala Hispana" and had six children as described in the Visitation of Shropshire of 1623.³ He was born circa 1348.² He was the son of Sir John Blount and Isoude de Mountjoy.² Sir Walter Blount accompanied the Black Prince and the Duke of Lancaster, John of Gaunt, on their expedition to Spain to assist Peter the Cruel, King of Castile, to restore him to the throne in 1367.⁴ He was said to have fought at Najera under John of Gaunt on 3 April 1367.⁵ He was apparently in the Duke's service in 1369.⁶ He chose his wife from the suite of ladies of Constantia of Castile, the consort of John of Gaunt circa 1372.⁴ He was already a knight in March 1371/72.⁶ He married Doña Sancha de Ayala, daughter of Diego Gómez, alcalde mayor and Doña Inéz de Ayala, circa 1372/73.^1,4,7,8 Sir Walter Blount was appointed by John of Gaunt as constable of Tutbury Castle for life in January 1372/73.⁶ He acquired lands, soon after his marriage, which seem to have been part of the Mountjoy property, from his brother John.⁶ He entered into a contract to serve the Duke, John of Gaunt, in peace and in war, for the term of his life in May 1374.⁶ He was in the train of John of Gaunt, King of Castile and Leon, setting out overseas in March 1377/78.⁶ He was Justice of the Peace for Staffordshire in 1380.⁶ He was setting out again for Spain in the company of his patron in 1386.⁶ He was Justice of the Peace for Derbyshire in 1388.⁶ He was a commissioner of array in 1392 at Staffordshire.⁶ He and Doña Sancha de Ayala obtained Papal indults for portable altars in 1394.⁶ Sir Walter Blount was made one of the executors of John of Gaunt in 1398.⁶ He was chosen a Knight of the Shire for Derby in 1399.⁶ He was receiving instructions for an embassy to Portugal, Spain and Aragon in February 1399/0.⁶ He was so celebrated for his martial prowess in the warlike times of Edward III, Richard II, and Henry IV, and immortalized by the muse of Shakespeare for his devotion even unto death of King Henry.⁹ He left a will on 16 December 1401 at Liverpool; He names his wife Sancha and sons John, Thomas, and James.⁷ He died on 21 July 1403. Slain at Shrewsbury while wearing the Coat Armor of his King. (See Shakespere's Henry IV.).^1,9,7 His estate was probated on 1 August 1403.⁷ Sir Walter Blount was buried in St. Mary's, the Newark, Leicester.⁷

     Sir Alexander Stewart of Darnley was the son of Sir Alan Stewart of Dreghorn.¹ Sir Alexander Stewart of Darnley had a charter from King David II of Scotland on 26 December 1347.² He died before 1404.²

     Katharina Visconti was born in 1360. She was the daughter of signore di Milano Bernabò Visconti and Regina della Scala.¹ Katharina Visconti married Lord of Milan Gian Galeazzo I Visconti, son of signore di Milano Galeazzo II Visconti and Bianca Maria de Savoie, in 1380; His 2nd. 1st cousins. This marriage was forced on him by his controlling uncle, Bernabo Visconti, of whom Katharina was his legitimate daughter.¹ Katharina Visconti died in 1404 at age 44 years.

     Ludovico Visconti was born in 1358.² He was the son of signore di Milano Bernabò Visconti and Regina della Scala.¹ Ludovico Visconti married Violante Visconti, daughter of signore di Milano Galeazzo II Visconti and Bianca Maria de Savoie, on 18 April 1381 at Italy; Her 3rd.² Ludovico Visconti died in 1404 at age 46 years.¹

     Philip II "le Hardi", duc de Bourgogne was born on 17 January 1342 at Pontoise, France.¹ He was the son of Jean II "le Bon", roi de France and Bonne de Luxembourg.¹ Duke of Burgundy between 1363 and 1404.² Philip II "le Hardi", duc de Bourgogne married Margaret III de Dampierre, daughter of Louis II de Mâle, comte de Flandre and Marguerite de Brabant, on 19 June 1369 at St. Bavon.^3,4 Philip II "le Hardi", duc de Bourgogne died on 27 April 1404 at Halle, Brabant, at age 62 years, 3 months and 10 days.¹ He was the predecessor of Jean "Sans Peur", duc de Bourgogne; Duke of Burgundy.

     Robert Braybrooke, Bishop of London was the son of Sir Gerard II Braybrooke Kt., M.P. and Isabel Hampden.¹ Robert Braybrooke, Bishop of London was Secretary to King Richard II between 1377 and 1381.¹ Dean of Salisbury at England in 1380.¹ He was appointed Bishop of London, in which office he performed the marriage ceremony of King Richard II to Anne of Bohemia on 9 September 1381.¹ Lord Chancellor of England from 9 September 1382 to 10 March 1383.¹ He attempted to reconcile the King with Thomas of Woodstock, Duke of Gloucester.¹ He sailed to Ireland with King Richard II in September 1394.¹ He died on 27 August 1404.¹

     Marie de Châtillon was born in 1343.¹ She was the daughter of duc de Bretagne Charles "le Saint" de Blois and Jeanne de Penthièvre.² Marie de Châtillon married Louis I, duc d'Anjou, son of Jean II "le Bon", roi de France and Bonne de Luxembourg, on 9 July 1360.¹ Marie de Châtillon died on 12 November 1404 at age 61 years.¹

     Sir John Sutton was born in 1378/79.^3,4 He was the son of Sir John de Sutton and Joanna de Clinton.² Sir John Sutton was twenty-one when the post-mortem insquisition was held of great-grandmother Isabella - at this time the lands and Castle of Dudley were restored to him circa 1400.¹ He held the manors of Sedgley, Kinswinford and Rowley-Somery, and Himley and Over Penn in the same county, attached to Dudley Castle at Staffordshire, England.¹ He held lands in Tipton and the manor of Prestwood in the forest of Kinver.¹ He married Constance Blount, daughter of Sir Walter Blount and Doña Sancha de Ayala, before 10 December 1401 at Worcestershire, England.^2,3,5 Sir John Sutton died in 1407 at age 28 years.³

      Edmund de Mortimer was born circa 1379. He was the son of Edmund "the Good Earl" de Mortimer, 3rd Earl of March and Philippa, suo jure Countess of Ulster. Edmund de Mortimer married Katherine Glendower circa 1400. Edmund de Mortimer plotted to put his nephew, Edmund, on the throne of England as the rightful heir in precedence over Henry IV before 1408. He died in 1408 at Harlech Castle. He was starved to death, and his wife and daughters murdered, for conspiring against Henry IV.

     Katherine Glendower was born circa 1385. She married Edmund de Mortimer, son of Edmund "the Good Earl" de Mortimer, 3rd Earl of March and Philippa, suo jure Countess of Ulster, circa 1400. Katherine Glendower died in 1408. Murdered following her husband's trying to get his nephew on the throne of England as rightful heir in place of Henry IV.

     John "the Founder", 3rd Lord Cobham was a witness where Joan de la Pole, Baroness Cobham an only child, daughter of Joan de Cobham, and heir of her grandfather, John de Cobham, 3rd Baron Cobham.³ John "the Founder", 3rd Lord Cobham was related to Joan de Cobham; only child of John de Cobham and Margaret de Courtenay, and heiress of her grandfather Sir John de Cobham.^3,4 John "the Founder", 3rd Lord Cobham was born circa 1321 at Cobham, Kent, England.⁵ He was the son of John, 2nd Lord Cobham and Joan de Beauchamp.³ John "the Founder", 3rd Lord Cobham married Margaret de Courtenay, daughter of Hugh II, 2nd Earl of Devon and Margaret de Bohun, in 1332/33 at Cobham, Kent, England.^1,6,7,3,8 3rd Baron Cobham at Kent, England, between 1355 and 1408.^6,9,3 John "the Founder", 3rd Lord Cobham was summoned to Parliment by writ directed "Johanni de Cobeham, later with the addition of de Kent" between 20 September 1355 and 21 December 1405.³ He was served in many French expeditions between 1359 and 1376. He went on two embassies to the French and on one to the Flemish.³ He was founded the Chantry in 1362 at Cobham, Kent, England. A monumental brass is engraved showing him holding a church. At Cobham, Kent, England, circa 1365.¹⁰ He was was made a banneret in 1370.³ He was one of the Commissioners of the Council of Regency in 1386.³ He was one of the Lords Appellant who impeached de la Pole and de Veer, favourites of the King in 1388.³ He was himself impeached and condemned to be hanged, but was pardoned on condition of banishment to Jersey, in January 1397 at Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England. He returned from his banishment in Jersey at the accession of Henry IV after 13 October 1399. He was not only the greatest of his line, but may be fairly styled the most considerable personage of all who have ever reigned as lords of Cobham.¹²

      Henry de Percy, 1st Earl of Northumberland was born on 10 November 1341.¹ He was the son of Henry IV de Percy, 3rd Lord Percy of Alnwick and Mary of Lancaster.¹ Henry de Percy, 1st Earl of Northumberland married Margaret de Nevill, daughter of Ralph, 2nd Lord Neville of Raby and Alice de Audley, on 12 July 1358; Her 2nd (widow).³ Henry de Percy, 1st Earl of Northumberland was saw service in the French Wars in 1359. He was again saw service in the French Wars in 1363. He was nominated into the Order of the Garter, #43, circa 1366.² He was he was at Calais with King Edward, and also commanded an army in Poitou in 1368. 4th Lord Percy of Alnwick between 1368 and 1409.³ He married Countess of Angus Maud de Lucy, daughter of Thomas, 2nd Lord Lucy and Margaret de Multon, after 1369; His 2nd. Her 2nd (widow).⁴ Arms: D'or, au lion d'azur, armé et lampassé de gueules.⁵ Henry de Percy, 1st Earl of Northumberland was a witness where John (de Nevill), 3rd Lord Neville a mediator between Douglas and Percy in 1374.³ Henry de Percy, 1st Earl of Northumberland was led an army of 10,000 men into Scotland to revenge the burning of Roxburgh by the Scots and ravaged the lands of the Earl of March in 1377. Arms: Quarterly, 1st and 4th grand quarters, 1st and 4th, or, a lion rampant azure, 2nd and 3rd, gules three lucies or pikes haurlent argent; 2nd and 3rd grand quarters, azure five fusils conjoined in fess or.⁶ He was was Commander-in-Chief of the forces sent to garrison French towns in English occupation in 1377. 1st Earl Percy of Northumberland between 6 July 1377 and 1408.³ He besieged Berwick with a large force, and though defended by only forty-eight men, Berwick Castle held out for eight days, after which it was captured and the whole garrison put to the sword, in 1378. Lord Marshal of England after 1380.³ He and Sir Henry "Hotspur" de Percy K.G. were were suspected of harbouring treasonable designs against Richard II and were summoned to appear before the King in 1399. The Percys refused to do so, and were proclaimed traitors whereupon they and other powerful barons raised the standard of revolt, deposed Richard and placed Henry IV on the throne. Henry de Percy, 1st Earl of Northumberland was on his son's death surrendered to the King on 21 July 1403. He was pardoned but remained a prisoner for some time. The Earl, when at last at liberty, assembled with his northern retainers in force and tried to hold Alnwick and his other castles against the King's forces, but on the threat to use canon against them they surrended. He was he again raised the standard of rebellion in 1405. This time he was joined by the Archbishop of York who was, however, defeated before the Earl could join him. Northumberland fled to Berwick and the King advanced northward with a large army to reduce his strongholds. Prudhoe and Warkworth both fell but Alnwick refused to surrender. The King passed on to Berwick, which yielded at the first discharge from a gun of large calibre, and on his return Alnwick surrendered to him. He was attainted for his rebellion in 1406.² He was sought refuge in Scotland where he continued to conspire with Owen Glendower against Henry. He was to make his last effort, leading a force of his own retainers and a few Scots into Yorkshire. This forlorn hope met with a crushing defeat at Bramham Moor, where the Earl was killed. In 1407. He died on 29 February 1407/8 at Bramham Moor at age 66 years, 3 months and 19 days. Killed in the rebellion.^1,3,7

     Edmund (de Holand), Earl of Kent, Lord Wake, Lord Woodstock, and Lord Holand was related to Eleanor Holland; natural daughter of Edmund Holland, Earl of Kent, by Constance, daughter of Edmund, Duke of York.³ Edmund (de Holand), Earl of Kent, Lord Wake, Lord Woodstock, and Lord Holand was born on 6 January 1382/83.¹ He was the son of Thomas (de Holand), Earl of Kent, Lord Woodstock, Holand, and Wake and Lady Alice FitzAlan of Arundel.² Edmund (de Holand), Earl of Kent, Lord Wake, Lord Woodstock, and Lord Holand was the successor of Thomas (de Holand), Earl of Kent, Lord Wake, Lord Woodstock, and Lord Holand; 8th Earl of Kent.⁴ 9th Earl of Kent between 1400 and 1408.¹ Edmund (de Holand), Earl of Kent, Lord Wake, Lord Woodstock, and Lord Holand was admitted to the title of earl of Kent in January 1401.⁵ He was nominated into the Order of the Garter, #106, circa 1404.⁶ He associated with Constance Plantagenet, daughter of Edmund, "of Langley," Duke of York and Princesa Isabel Pérez de Castilla y León, before 1405; Her 2nd?⁷ Edmund (de Holand), Earl of Kent, Lord Wake, Lord Woodstock, and Lord Holand married Lucia Visconti, daughter of signore di Milano Bernabò Visconti and Regina della Scala, on 24 January 1406 at St. Mary Overy, Southwark, England.^8,9 Edmund (de Holand), Earl of Kent, Lord Wake, Lord Woodstock, and Lord Holand died on 15 September 1408 at Ile de Brehat, Coates-du-Nord, France, at age 25 years, 8 months and 9 days. D.s.p. legit. He was slain in the attack on the Isle de Brehat.¹⁰

     Sir James Kennedy married Princess Mary, daughter of Robert III, King of Scotland and Annabella Drummond; Her 2nd (widow).¹ Sir James Kennedy died before 8 November 1408.¹

     Valentina Visconti was born in 1366.¹ She was the daughter of Lord of Milan Gian Galeazzo I Visconti and Isabella de Valois.² Valentina Visconti married Louis I, comte de Orléans, son of Charles V "le Sage", roi de France and Jeanne de Bourbon, in 1389; 1st cousins.¹ Valentina Visconti died on 4 December 1408 at Blois, France, at age 42 years.¹

     Arms: Quarterly 1&4: ermine, a chevron gules. 2&3: Gules fretty or.³ John Touchet, 4th Lord Audley was the grandnephew of Nicholas, Lord Audley, d.s.p. in July 1392.⁴ He was born on 23 April 1371 at Haleigh, Staffordshire, England.⁵ He was the son of John Touchet and Margaret de Mortimer.² John Touchet, 4th Lord Audley came of age in the 16th Richard II in 1393.⁴ He married Isabel (?) before 1398. John Touchet, 4th Lord Audley had the abeyance of the Barony of Audley determined in his favor in or prior to 6th Henry IV in 1403. He was summoned to parliament on 20 October 1403.⁴ 4th Baron Audley between 1405 and 1408.² He summoned to Parliament, as Baron Audley, successor to that line through his grandmother, Joan de Audley, between 21 December 1405 and 26 August 1408.² He died on 19 December 1408 at Haleigh, Staffordshire, England, at age 37 years, 7 months and 26 days.^5,2
