     The Grey family received Wilton Castle, in Herefordshire, thought their marriage to Maud, heiress of the Longchamp's.2 Reginald, 1st Baron Grey of Wilton was born in 1237.2 He was the son of John de Grey of Wilton, Justice of Chester and Joane, Lady Peyvre.1,2 Reginald, 1st Baron Grey of Wilton married Maud FitzHugh, daughter of William, Lord FitzHugh and Hawys de Longchamp.2 Reginald, 1st Baron Grey of Wilton obtained, in consideration of his faithful services to the king, special livery of all his father's lands, although he had not then done his homage in 1265.2 (1280/81) In the 9th Edward I, made justice of Chester, and merited so well, that for his manifold services he had part of the honour of Monmouth conferred upon him by the king; and in further recompense of his services obtained the castle of Ruthyn and other lands.2 Arms: Barry argent and azure, a label gules.3 (1293/94) In the 22nd Edward I, received command to be at Portsmouth, to attend the king in Gascony, then menaced by the French.2 (1294/95) In the 23rd Edward I, summoned to parliament as a baron.2 He was summoned to parliaments from 23 June 1295 to 26 August 1307.4 (1296/97) In the 25th Edward I, on the king going into Flanders and committing the government of England in his absence to Prince Edward, appointed Lord Grey the prince's assistant.2 He died in 1308 at age 71 years.2

Louth, Duleek, co. Meath, hereditary Constable of Ireland, hereditary patron of Croxden Abbey.2 Also called Thebaud de Verdun.2 He was born circa 1248.2 He was the son of John de Verdun Knt., of Alton and Margerie de Lacie.1,2 Theobald, 1st Lord Verdun was at an unknown age as of 1271.2 Theobald, 1st Lord Verdun was at an unknown age as of 1274.2 He was one of those magnates who, having large Irish interests, granted to the King in Parliament the export duties on wool and hides in their ports in Ireland on 19 May 1275.2 He married Margery de Bohun, daughter of Humphrey de Bohun Knt. and Eleanore de Braose, before 6 November 1276; Her 2nd.2 Theobald, 1st Lord Verdun served in Wales in 1277.2 He served again in Wales in 1282.2 He served yet again in Wales in 1283.2 He was with the King at Norham when he settled the claims to the Scottish Crown in 1291.2 He was found guilty of high treason for "divers transgressions and disorders" in 1291. He was released on payment of 500 marks.2 He was summoned for service against the Scots between 1291 and 1309.2 He was summoned to Parliament by writs directed Theobaldo de Verdun, whereby he is held to have become Lord Verdun from 24 June 1295 to 11 June 1309.2 He signed the Barons' letter to Pope Boniface as D'n's de Webbele in 1301.2 He died on 24 August 1309 at Alton, Staffordshire, England. He died testate.1 Theobald, 1st Lord Verdun was buried in Croxden Abbey.2

John le Strange (V) at his death held Midilton jointly with Maud, his wife, who survived.6 He died in 1310.7
