     George Schamp Jr. was baptized on 19 March 1749 at the North Branch Reformed Dutch Church, Readington, Somerset County, New Jersey.^1,2 He was the son of George Schamp Sr. and Kniertje Monfoort.¹ George Schamp Jr. witnessed the will of Justis Schamp on 28 May 1760 at Readington Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey; Just days before his death, Joost, described as "...weak of Body but sound of Mind and memory" made his last will and testament. Executed at his plantation in "the Township of Reading in the County of Hunterdon," Joost very carefully divided his vast land holdings among his surving children and grandchildren. By it his wife was given the use of the entire estate during her widowhood. At her death or previous to remarriage the estate was to be divided as follows: The two sons of his deceased eldest son George were to receive 1832 acres of the Somerset tract. Another 183 acres of this tract were to be given to the two sons of Nicholas. One hundred acres of this same tract were given to the children of his daughter Janneka, late wife of Dirck Marlet, to be divided among them. The rest was to be divided among his living heirs, both children and grandchildren. The Hunterdon tract was to be divided among the three remaining children. His daughter, Staunchy (aka Christine), wife of Jacobus Cocks, was given a parcel of 111 acres. Another 111 acres went to his daughter Hannah, of who marriage no trace has yet appeared, and the remainder, 278 acres, fell to his son Hendrick, this portion containing the homestead and appears to have been the choice heritage. The two sons of his son George, George and Peter, were to give their five sisters the sum of sixteen pounds each.      Also called Catleyna. Catleytie Waldron was born circa 1753 at Sussex, New Jersey.¹ She was the daughter of Samuel Waldron.¹ As of circa 1774,her married name was Schamp. Catleytie Waldron married Adriaen Schamp, son of Nicolaes Schamp and Antje Aten, after 1775; His 2nd.

     Dirck Marlatt was born circa 1710. He married Jannetje Schamp, daughter of Justis Schamp and Margrietje Lock, circa 1731.

     Margrietje Cock was born circa 1728. She was the daughter of David Cock and Marietje Van Leuven. As of circa May 1750,her married name was Schamp. Margrietje Cock married Hendrick Schamp, son of Justis Schamp and Margrietje Lock, on 14 May 1750 at Readington Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey.¹

     Mary Emmans was born circa 1754. She married George Schamp, son of Hendrick Schamp and Margrietje Cock, on 2 February 1775 at Readington Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey.¹

     Mary Schamp was born circa 1756. She was the daughter of Hendrick Schamp and Margrietje Cock. Mary Schamp married William Van Sickle on 23 May 1773.

     William Van Sickle was born circa 1754. He married Mary Schamp, daughter of Hendrick Schamp and Margrietje Cock, on 23 May 1773.

     Margaret Schamp was born circa 1758.¹ She was the daughter of Hendrick Schamp and Margrietje Cock.¹ As of circa 1780,her married name was Shurts. Margaret Schamp married Peter Shurts circa 1780.

     Rebeccah Schamp was baptized on 29 April 1781 at the North Branch Reformed Dutch Church, Readington, Somerset County, New Jersey.¹ She was the daughter of Peter Schamp and Margaret Hoffman. Rebeccah Schamp married Elijah Baker on 29 November 1798 at Hunterdon County, New Jersey.²

     Margaret Schamp was baptized on 11 December 1783 at the North Branch Reformed Dutch Church, Readington, Somerset County, New Jersey.¹ She was the daughter of Peter Schamp and Margaret Hoffman. Margaret Schamp and Burgen Davis obtained a marriage license on 28 August 1806 at Somerset County, New Jersey; Married by Rev. Studdiford.²

     Peter Schamp was baptized on 6 November 1785 at the North Branch Reformed Dutch Church, Readington, Somerset County, New Jersey.¹ He was the son of Peter Schamp and Margaret Hoffman.

     Sarah Schamp was baptized on 28 October 1786 at the North Branch Reformed Dutch Church, Readington, Somerset County, New Jersey.¹ She was the daughter of Peter Schamp and Margaret Hoffman.

     Samuel Schamp was baptized on 22 October 1775 at the Neshanic Reformed Dutch Protestant Church, Somerset County, New Jersey; "Schamp, Adriyaen and Catleyna--Samuel, bap. Oct. 22, 1775."¹ He was the son of Adriaen Schamp and Catleytie Waldron.¹ Samuel Schamp and Nicolaes Schamp were taken by Samuel Waldron (their grandfather, uncle?) following their father's death on 14 March 1780. "The two children of Adrian Schomp, deceased, are to be at Samuel Waldron's for a year, the oldest, named Samuel, for fourteen pounds, the youngest, named Nicholas, for fifteen pounds, as the money passed in the year 1774, for which sums the said Samuel Waldron is to find said children all necessary supplies, both victualing and clothing."² Samuel Schamp and Nicolaes Schamp were still remain with Samuel Waldron who was again paid for taking care of the children out of their father's estate in 1786.³

     Nicolaes Schamp was baptized on 31 August 1777 at the Neshanic Reformed Dutch Protestant Church, Somerset County, New Jersey; "Schamp, Areyaen and Catleytie--Nicolaes, bap. Aug. 31, 1777."¹ The 3rd son, but named after his father's father(?). He was the son of Adriaen Schamp and Catleytie Waldron.¹ Nicolaes Schamp and Samuel Schamp were taken by Samuel Waldron (their grandfather, uncle?) following their father's death on 14 March 1780. The payment was for "writing indentures."⁴

     John Smock was baptized on 9 April 1787 at the Neshanic Reformed Dutch Protestant Church, Somerset County, New Jersey; "Smock, Matyas and Hanna--John, bap. April 9, 1787."¹ He was the son of Matthias Smock and Hannah Stout.¹

     Henry Schamp was born in January 1774.¹ He was the son of George Schamp and Mary Emmans.

     Robert Schamp was born after 1794. He was the son of Henry Schamp.

     Adam Pence was born circa 1790 at Virgina.¹ He married Christine Smock, daughter of Matthew Smock and Tiney Scomp, on 28 November 1816 at Shelby County, Kentucky.² Adam Pence was a farmer in 1850.³

In 1850, Adam Pence was Head of Household on the census at Rochester Township, Fulton County, Indiana, . Enumerated with him were Christine Smock, Manervy Pence and Clarissa J. Pence.³

     Also called Lijsbet Thomas What the Dutch knew her as.² Elizabeth Thomas was born circa 1635 at London, England.³ She married Gysberts Lubberts on 24 February 1655 at the Reformed Dutch Church, New Amsterdam, Kings County, New York.⁴ Elizabeth Thomas was widow of Gysbert Lubbertse before 1667.⁵ She married Adriaen Hendrickse Aten, son of Hendrick Aten; Her 2nd (widow).^6,7,1 Elizabeth Thomas witnessed the baptism of Adriaen Aten on 4 September 1695 at the Reformed Dutch Church, New Amsterdam, Kings County, New York; "Thomas Aten, Elsje Schilman; Adriaen; (witnesses) Adriaen Aten and his wife, Elisabeth Thomas."^8,2 Elizabeth Thomas witnessed the will of Adriaen Hendrickse Aten on 20 March 1695/96 at Flatbush, Kings County, New York; Wife, Elizabeth Aten. His wife's son by a former marriage by name of Lubbert Gybertsen; daughter Marritie Aten. Other children not named.^9,10 Elizabeth Thomas was mentioned in the will of her second husband, Adrian Aten, on 20 March 1695/96.¹⁰

     Also called Cathelina Middagh She appears as a witness in 1727.³ Cataline Pieterse Van Nest was baptized on 3 March 1672 at the Reformed Dutch Church, New Amsterdam, Kings County, New York.^4,3 She was the daughter of Pieter Pietersen Van Nest and Judith Jorise Rapalje.^1,2,3 Cataline Pieterse Van Nest accompanied Pieter Van Nest when Pieter relocated in 1683 and came to reside in Somerset County, New Jersey; The original patent to Peter Van Nest, (son of Pieter), the first of the family to settle in New Jersey, and indeed the first european settlers in the area, consisted of a large tract of land along the north branch of the Raritan River, in what was then East Jersey, situated between the villages of North Branch and Somerville. In time this estate was partitioned off among his heirs. The homestead was replaced some years ago by a building used at the present time as the Community Home for the Poor and Aged.^5,6 Cataline Pieterse Van Nest and Dirck Aertse Middagh relocated to Raritan, Somerset County, New Jersey, before 1693.^7,8 Cataline Pieterse Van Nest married Dirck Aertse Middagh, son of Aert Anthonize Middagh and Breckje Hanse Bergen, before 1693.⁹ Cataline Pieterse Van Nest was a witness where Dirck Aertse Middagh a witness on 8 March 1699 at Raritan (Somerville), Somerset County, New Jersey.³ Cataline Pieterse Van Nest was a witness on 8 March 1699 at Raritan (Somerville), Somerset County, New Jersey.³ She witnessed the baptism of Jaquemina Van Nest on 8 March 1699 at the Dutch Reformed Church, Raritan (Somerville), Somerset County, New Jersey; "Van Neste, Piter and wife--Jaquemina.      Theunis Middagh was baptized on 25 March 1661 at the Reformed Dutch Church, New Amsterdam, Kings County, New York; "Aart Theuniszen-middag, Brechtje Hans; Theunis; Theunis Gysbertszen Bogaert, Joris Rapalje, Sara Joris."^1,2 He was the son of Aert Anthonize Middagh and Breckje Hanse Bergen.

     Jan Aertsen Middagh was baptized on 24 December 1662 at Brooklyn, Kings County, New York.¹ He was the son of Aert Anthonize Middagh and Breckje Hanse Bergen. Jan Aertsen Middagh was a witness on 3 October 1686 at Kingston, Ulster County, New York.¹ He was a witness on 20 January 1689 at Kingston, Ulster County, New York.¹ He took the Oath of Allegiance on 1 September 1689 at Ulster County, New York.¹ He married Geertje Teunisse Claerwater before 1694.²

     Gerret Aertse Middagh was born circa 1673 at Kings County, New York.³ He was the son of Aert Anthonize Middagh and Breckje Hanse Bergen.² Gerret Aertse Middagh was took the Oath of Allegience to the King of England as a native in September 1687 at Kings County, New York.^4,1 He married Cornelia Jans Cowenhoven on 25 September 1691 at Flatbush, Kings County, New York.¹ Gerret Aertse Middagh appears on a tax list in 1698 at Brooklyn, New York.¹ He left a will on 8 September 1709.¹ His estate was probated on 21 September 1710 at New York.⁵

     Cornelia Jans Cowenhoven was born circa 1671. She married Gerret Aertse Middagh, son of Aert Anthonize Middagh and Breckje Hanse Bergen, on 25 September 1691 at Flatbush, Kings County, New York.¹ As of 25 September 1691,her married name was Middagh.²

     Annetje Middagh was born circa 1675.¹ She was the daughter of Aert Anthonize Middagh and Breckje Hanse Bergen. Annetje Middagh witnessed the baptism of N. N. Middagh on 27 August 1692.¹ As of before 1694,her married name was Remsen.² Annetje Middagh married Abraham Remsen before 1694.¹

     Abraham Remsen was born circa 1671. He married Annetje Middagh, daughter of Aert Anthonize Middagh and Breckje Hanse Bergen, before 1694.¹

Joris Aartze Middag was Captain of Foot Company, Counties of Ulster and Dutchess on 21 April 1693 at New York.¹ He married Marritje Martense Van Ysselstyn on 22 April 1695 at Kingston, Kings County, New York.¹ Joris Aartze Middag was Captain of Foot Company, Counties of Ulster and Dutchess on 28 November 1700 at New York.¹

     Marritje Martense Van Ysselstyn was born circa 1676 at Albany, New York.¹ She married Joris Aartze Middag, son of Aert Anthonize Middagh and Breckje Hanse Bergen, on 22 April 1695 at Kingston, Kings County, New York.²

     Cornelis Middagh was baptized on 13 June 1698 at Brooklyn, Kings County, New York.¹ He was the son of Dirck Aertse Middagh and Cataline Pieterse Van Nest.¹ Cornelis Middagh came to possess the farm of his father (originally purchased form Peter Van Neste) in 1716.² He married Eycke (?) before 1723; His 1st?      Dirck Low was baptized on 13 October 1719 at Raritan (Somerville), Somerset County, New Jersey; Sponsors: Pieter and Catalina Middagh.^1,2 He was the son of Cornelius Low and Judith Middagh.¹ Dirck Low was a witness where Tiney Scomp "taken away," following her father's death, by Dirk Low, the terms of the arrangement weren't "agreed upon" first however, on 21 March 1780.³
