He was the son of William "the Ogre of Abergavenny", 4th Lord of Bramber, 5th Baron Braose and Maud de St. Valéry.1 Bishop of Hereford between 1200 and 1215.1,2 Giles de Braose left England when the Pope's interdict came into force in 1208. He was a witness where Reginald de Braose, 5th Baron of Brecknock turned, with his brother Giles, to open war with King John and took the de Braose Lordships in Wales which John had confiscated on the death of their father in 1213.2 Giles de Braose turned, with his brother Reginald, to open war with King John and took the de Braose Lordships in Wales which John had confiscated on the death of their father in 1213.2 He returned to England with Archbishop Langton in 1214.2 He saw the situation in Wales ratified by King John on the payment of a fine in October 1215.2 He died on 17 November 1215 at Gloucester, Gloucestershire, England.2

Latin Emperor at Constantinople, Romania, between 1206 and 11 June 1216.2 4th Crusade - Latins, under Henry of Flanders, brother of Baldwin I, attacked the Bulgarians, under Boril, and defeated them, forcing a Bulgarian withdrawl beyond the Balkan Mountains. In 1208 at Philippopolis.4 He died on 11 June 1216 at Thessalonica, Macedonia. He died, possibly poisoned, in the 10th year of his reign. d.s.p.2,5 No capable rulers followed Henry, and the Latin empire quickly declined.2 He was the predecessor of Pierre II, imperator Romaniae; Latin Emperor.3,5
