Kometopoulos, daughter of Gavril Radomir, Tsar of Bulgaria and Eirene (?), before 1015.1 Stefan Vojislav, knez Duklje showed his wiles and ingenuity after Tsar Ivan's death, for when the Byzantine Emperor Basil attacked the land, and captured the whole of Bulgaria, Rassa and Bosna, the whole of Dalmatia and the maritime districts as far as the border of Dalmatia Inferior, he had suborned himself to the Greeks and rode with them through the provinces as an ally and comrade.3 He gave clandestine counsel to the Greeks so that they would treat the people harshly and unjustly, but at the same time he was secretly talking to the people thus: " How great is the injury you have suffered at the hands of the Greeks ? They judge you unjustly and banish all that is good. They commit adultery with your wives, and they violate and rape your virginal daughters. My forefathers, who were kings before me, never afflicted such evils upon you, so great and grave is this wickedness".3 He asserted full independence for Duklja in 1035.7 King of Duklja at (Montenegro), Balkan Peninsula, between 1035 and 1051.1,2,7 He revolted and liberated Duklja and Rasa from Byzantine suzerainty between 1036 and 1042.4 He ruled a land that stretched in the coastal region from Ston in the north, down to the Lake of Skadar, where he set up his capital, with other courts in Trebinje, Kotor and Bar in 1040 at Balkan Peninsula.7 He freed himself from Byzantine suzerainty winning a decisive battle near Bar circa 1043.
