A descendant of William
Clopton, of St. Paul’s Parish, and his wife, Joyce Wilkinson, of Black Creek,
by Thomas B. Clopton, M.D., of New Kent County, and Eatonton, Putnam County,
Georgia, and his second wife, Harriet B. Claiborne, of Sparta, Hancock County,
Georgia. Also a descendant of the
ancient Cloptons by Thomas Claiborne, Jr., of “Sweet Hall,” King William
County, Virginia, and his wife, Ann Fox, of “Huntington,” King William, by
Harriet B. Claiborne and Dr. Thomas B. Clopton. Mrs. Blanton was a reporter, photographer, and Bureau
Director of the second largest daily newspaper in Georgia, the Macon Telegraph
and News. She is the founder and
serves as the first Executive Director of the Clopton Family Genealogical
Society and Clopton Family Archives.
She is currently compiling The Clopton Chronicles, The Ancestors and
Descendants of Sir Thomas Clopton, Knight & Dame Katherine Mylde, a
project of the Society. She is a
Charter Member Clopton Family Association and served as the first Editor of
Histories and Biographies for the Clopton Family Homepage. A frequent contributor to that
organization's newsletter, she also served as Publicity Chairperson for the
1996 and 1998 International Clopton Family Reunions. Member Chester County (Pennsylvania) Historical Society;

Cristopher Nash, Ph.D.
A descendant of
Ann Clopton, of “Callowell,” York (now New Kent) County, Virginia, and her
husband, Nicholas Mills, II, of St. Martin’s Parish, Hanover County, Virginia,
Dr. Nash is a Founding Member of the Clopton Family Genealogical Society and
Clopton Family Archives. He
received his B.A. summa cum laude in English, University of California at Los
Angeles, 1958; M.A. in Romance Languages and Literature, New York University,
1965; Ph.D. with Double Distinction in Comparative Literature, New York
University, 1970. Honors include
Phi Beta Kappa and Fulbright-Hays Fellowships in France, 1965-6 and 1966-7,
University of Paris (Sorbonne) and University of Aix-Marseille. He is the Senior Lecturer in English
and Comparative Literature, co-founder of Graduate School of Comparative
Literature, and Co-Director of Italian and English, University of Warwick,
United Kingdom. He is author of
many books, including Narrative in Culture, The Dinosaurs Ball,
World-Games: The Tradition of
Anti-Realist Revolt, and, World Postmodern Fiction.
Carole Elizabeth Scott, Ph.D.
Dr. Scott is a descendant of
William Clopton, of St. Paul’s Parish, and his wife, Joyce Wilkinson, of Black
Creek, by Alford Clopton, M.D., of New Kent County, Eatonton, Putnam County,
Georgia, and Tuskegee, Macon County, Alabama, and his wife, Sarah Kendrick, of
Putnam County. She is a Founding
Member, Clopton Family Genealogical Society, and a member of the Clopton Family
Association. She authored Your
Financial Plan in 1979, with Harper & Row; currently Editor of the
Richards College of Business, State University of West Georgia's Web Journal,
B>Quest; retired professor of Economics at West Georgia; member of the
Georgia Historical Society and the Carroll County Historical Society; an
honorary member of the McDaniel-Curtis Camp (Carrollton, Georgia) of the SCV
and Forrest's Escort Camp (Villa Rica) of the SCV; contributing editor for the
Web publication, North Georgia Com.; published many articles for various
business, economic, and historical publications. In addition to
her Clopton lines, she is researching the ancestors and descendants of John

Jack Hugh Thacker, M.B.A., Lt. Col., Rt.
Col. Thacker is Jack Hugh Thacker, M.B.A.,
Lt. Col., Rt. Is a descendant of Robert Clopton, I, of “Callowell,” York (now
New Kent) County, Virginia, and his wife, Mary Crump, by Nancy Clopton and her
husband, Gideon Ragland, Sr. He
earned a BS in Business Administration, University of Akron, 1941; MBA, with
Distinction, and a graduate of the Air Force Institute of Technology,
1957. He worked at General
Dynamics Corporation; Cost Accountant, Goodyear Aircraft Corporation; Chief of
Cost Accounting, Star Drilling Machine Company; and retired from Delco Moraine
Division GMC, in 1980. He served
in the Army Air Force, 1942-46; recalled to active duty, 1951, commissioned
Regular Air Force, and served as Contracting Officer and Procurement Staff
Officer, retired as Lieutenant Colonel, USAF, 1969; In World War II, flew 30
bombardment missions in B-24 aircraft against Japanese targets while assigned
as Gunnery Officer, 400th Squadron, 90th Bomb Group, "The Jolly
Rogers;" decorations included the Air Medal with 2 OLC, the Air Force
Commendation Medal, and 9 battle stars on Asia-Pacific medal. He is a Founding Member of the Clopton
Family Genealogical Society and Clopton Family Archives, and a member of the
Clopton Family Association, United Methodist Church; Scholastic Honoraries, Phi

is also connected to the Clopton family as descendant of Miles Turpin, the
Elder, of “Dove Hill,” Henrico County, Virginia, and his wife, Fanny Frayser. He is an executive with Isaach & Saatchi, an advertising
firm located at Los Angeles, California.
He is a Founding Member of the Clopton Family Genealogical Society and
Clopton Family Archives. He is a
member Clopton Family Association and the California Chapter of the Sons of the
Revolution.
Leonard Alton Wood, Maj. USAFR, Ret.
Mr.
Wood is Founding Member of the Clopton Family Genealogical Society and Clopton
Family Archives, and is a member of the Clopton Family Association. He is the
husband of Annie (Ott) Wood, a descendant of Waldegrave Clopton, Sr., of “Merry
Oak,” and his wife, Unity Alford, of New Kent County, Virginia, by Dr.
Nathaniel Vanderwall Clopton, of “Grassdale,” Fauquier County, Virginia, and
his wife, Sarah Susan Grant Skinker, of “Spring Farm,” Fauquier County. He has done the original research on
the Clopton Family of Fauquier County.
He is a member of the Fauquier
Heritage Society, Fairfax Genealogy Society, and the National Genealogical Society. Mr. Wood served as a fighter pilot
(1943-1945) in the US Army Air Corps
and flew 75 missions
in P51s with the 8th
Air Force in Europe. He also
served in the USAF Air Defense Command
(1951-1952) during the Korean Police Action. He was in the Michigan Air National
Guard at Kellogg Field (1948-1951) and in the Texas Air National Guard (F80s)
at Ellington Field (1953-1955). He
graduated from Michigan State University in December 1946 (BS Geology). He was a Hydrogeologist with the US
Geological Survey between 1947 and
1980 in Michigan, Texas, Colorado and Washington, DC. He was a Hydrogeologist with S.S. Papadopulos & Assoc.
(1980-1996) in Bethesda, Maryland until his retirement. He received the Meritorious Service
Award from the Department of Interior in 1975 and the Award for
Distinguished Service in
Hydrogeology from the Hydrogeology Division of the Geological Society of
America in 1997.

Mr. Bartlett is a descendant of Walter Clopton, The
Elder, of “Callowell,” and his wife, Mary Jarratt by Benjamin Michaux Clopton,
C.S.A., of Murfreesboro, Rutherford County, Tennessee, and Navarro County,
Texas and his wife, Mary Elizabeth McLin.

Peter Knevitt
Mr. Knevitt is connected to
the Clopton Family by ancient ties.
Like the Cloptons, he is a descendant of John Knyvet, Lord Chancellor of
England and his wife, Alinore or Eleanor Basset. While the Clopton descend from their son, John Knyvet, Esq.,
and his wife, Joan Botetourt, Mr. Knevitt counts as his ancestors, their son,
Robert Knyvet, of Winwick, and his wife, Johana Chasteleyne. Mr. Knevitt is also a descendant of
Dame Katherine Mylde by her second husband, William deTendring, Knt. Of
Tendering Hall by Muriel Howard, Countess Lisle, and her husband, Thomas
Knyvet, Knt., Master of the Horse.
Mr. Knevitt, whose distant grandfather is Charles William Knyvet,
Chaplain to Queen Victoria, continues his research from his home in Australia.
John Henry Knowlton, Jr.
Mr.
Knowlton is a descendant of the ancient Cloptons by Alice Clopton of Kentwell
Hall, and her husband, John Harleston, armiger, of Shimpling, County Suffolk by
Ensign Thomas Mapes of Olney, County Buckinghamshire, England and Southold,
Suffolk County, Long Island, New York, and his wife, Sarah Purrier of Olney and Southold. He is a graduate of Western Michigan
University with dual degrees in History and Geography. He served in the Army as a Mechanized
Infantry Officer in the 2nd Infantry Division's 17th Infantry Battalion in
Korea and in the 5th Mechanized Division's 61st Mechanized Infantry Battalion at Ft. Polk,
LA. His final assignment in the Regular Army was Operations Officer (S3) for
the 6th Battalion of the 1st Infantry Training Brigade at Ft. Polk,
LA. After returning home he joined
the Michigan National Guard and served as a Rifle Company Commander in the
126th Infantry and as an Intelligence Staff officer on the 46th Brigade staff
of the 38th Infantry Division.
He is a Graduate of the U.S. Army Command & General Staff College. He retired as a Major and in civilian life is a software
engineer and Federal Agent with the Department of Treasury. He is a Life Member of the Veterans of
Foreign Wars; and a member of the
White Lake Historical Society and the Scabbard & Blade honor fraternity.
Francie Lucile (Graham) Smith
Mrs. Smith is a descendant of
William
Clopton, of St. Paul’s Parish, and his wife, Joyce Wilkinson, of Black Creek,
by John Clopton, of “Roslyn” and his wife, Sara Bacon, of Charles City County,
Virginia. She received duel
degrees in Radio-TV-Film, and Secondary Speech Education, with minors in
Advertising, Journalism and Semantics from Northwestern University, Evanston,
Illinois. In the year 2000, she is
Managing Partner of Fox Valley Communications, St. Charles, Illinois, a
marketing communications firm specializing in marketing analysis; public
relations; special events production and promotion; publications, and training
materials. Previously she
was Editor, Fox Valley Living Magazine, St. Charles; and, Editor and
Publisher, Editor-in-Chief, Managing Editor, and Feature Editor of Foxway
Magazine, Batavia, Illinois.
Through the years she has served as editor and writer for numerous
tourism related publications and articles. She was writer, producer and announcer for “This Week in Illinois,”
sponsored by the Illinois Office of Tourism, and other Illinois tourism
television and radio spots.
As a broadcast copywriter and promotion specialist, she wrote and
created spot promotions for Chicago radio and television stations ranging from “South
Train,” for Don Cornelius Productions, to “Christmas Is…” and other seasonal
promotions for WEFLD-TV.

Guinn, Sr.

Mr. Guinn is a descendant of William Clopton,
of St. Paul’s Parish, and his wife, Joyce Wilkinson, of Black Creek, by Alford
Clopton, M.D., of New Kent County, Eatonton, Putnam County, Georgia, and
Tuskegee, Macon County, Alabama, and his wife, Sarah Kendrick, of Putnam
