Looking for additional information on Wm. AUBLE, m. to "Betsy" ALLEN who resided in Huron Co., Ohio - possibly in Greenwich. Problem- there were apparently two William AUBLEs who went to Ohio about the same time, one to Huron Co., and the other to Seneca Co. Information about either would be appreciated, so long as they are clearly defined which is which. I suspect that researchers have confused the two and mixed up the data. Example- Was the Seneca Co. Wm. m. to "Bessie" or to Mary? Was the Huron Co. Wm. m. to "Bessie" or "Betsy" (FISHEL or ALLEN)? There is also confusion regarding a daughter Asenath, b. 1826 to the Huron William, probably. Mention in a census would help. 1830 or 1840?

A new maiden name and the quest goes on, who were the parents? I did check the 1850 census today of Huron Co., Ohio on ancestry and did not find Timothy WOOD or Permelia FERRIS living with a parent there. Then there are always mistakes in indexing those old records that are so hard to read. Hopefully someone will have a clue to the parents of this couple.

I requested a birth record lookup for my dad, Charles Edward DAVIS a year or so ago and Debbie Orth couldn't find him in her index. He was born in New Haven and I think it was in Nov. of 1903. His parents were Edward Lafayette and Harriet M. (SNYDER) DAVIS. I checked the Huron County Birts microfilms, when I was back in Norwalk in June, and also could not find him. However, I did find his older brother and sister. Apparently, everyone forgot to register his birth. Can anyone on this list suggest another source for his birth record that would be acceptable in a First Family application?

Mary Carabin Look Up Results - If your DAVIS ancestor got social security he would have had to go to a courthouse with some one who knew him and get a delayed /corrected birth record, if one was not recorded when he was born. His birth occurred during the transition period and most likely did not get recorded. I don't believe they had to go to the town of their birth to get a delayed birth record. I think it could have been where he lived at the time. By the way if you want to join Huron Co. First Families, we would accept a marriage record that lists his parents. We would not have to have an actual birth record.

I just received my Huron county Kinologist. In Henry Timman's contribution of Lyme Township Householders, my ggg Grandfather Stephen SAWYER is listed in District 5. The SAWYERs arrived in 1826 and supposedly built a cabin on land owned by Richard L. McCurdy, who isn't listed (he may have come shortly after. The listings in the 1830 census seem to have been put in helter skelter when I compare names in the 1826 compilation or there was a lot of moving around. Actually Stephen ended up in Section 1 of Lyme Township. Several of us are trying to figure out when he actually moved to that area. Was he there in 1828? (Have deed transfers but they are not conclusive.) Can anyone point to other clues?

I have a list of WELLS 'potential' and 'known' ancestors from the surname index of the Huron Co Cemeteries. How can I get the actual data? (Long list of WELLS and page numbers here) I know for sure James and Persis (p 572) are my direct ancestors. I believe that Ezekiel may be his father or uncle. Ezekiel had several children but because he died in 1842, I can only assume Ezekiel Jr. is his child.
