My Huron County family is BOWER or BOWERS and I have gotten great help in finding Silas BOWERS who was born elsewhere in 1805 and married in Huron County in the 1830's. I am interested in his children who were born in Huron County in the 1830's, his wife Mary Ann, who was Native American, according to family tradition.

I have seen several references to a book of marriages in Huron Co. What I have seen was the names of the bride and groom and the date of the marriage. Is there any additional information such as location, parents, witnesses? The specific marriage I am interested in is that of Silas BOWERS and Mary Ann TRUX.

I am looking for the dob and dod for Vincent METZ and his two wives. Vincent first married Helena PAHL on or about 7/7/1845 and secondly married Theresa MILLER or MUELLER on or about 7/1/1862. I believe Vincent and Helena (PAHL) METZ had three or more children, Fred (b. ca 1843), Frank V. (b. 4/4/1846) and Regina METZ (b. 12/12/1847). I also need dob and dod for their son Fred and whether or not he ever married, a possible wife, any children and his place of burial. Vincent and Theresa (MILLER) METZ had one or more children. Their daughter Louise Helen METZ married Englebert ISELE on or about 10/19/1880.

Misty Nikula-Ohlsen Look Up Results - I am a descendent of Helena PAHL's older brother, Francis (Franz) PAHL. I have lots of information on her family/ancestors (back to 1600's in Germany). Let me know if you are interested. I have minimal info on Vincent METZ himself, but this is what I do have- Apparently his name is also spelled MADZ. I show that he and Helena (Lena) were married on 17 June 1845 in Peru, OH. I also found an 1850 census entry in Ridgefield Township, Huron County, OH for Vincent and Hellen METZ. He is 32 years old, she is 27. They were both born in Baden. It is on reel #M432-697, page 22b, dwelling 280. Also online at https://sites.rootsweb.com/~ohhuron/. My records indicate that Helena died in Lyme Twp, Huron Co, OH in Sep 1883 (much later than you show Vincent marrying Theresa).

I found a response left on RootsWeb.com on June 12, 2000, regarding the ASHLEYs of Huron Co., OH. James ASHLEY, the patriarch of the family, is buried in Steuben Cemetery. He and his wife, Annette CASWELL, had 11 children. I believe their sons, Warden and Luther, were two of the prominent early settlers of Huron County. They had a brother, Levi ASHLEY, who was born in MA in about 1779. Before the family left Shutesbury and Franklin County, MA, Levi ASHLEY had a son, James Levi ASHLEY, who was born November 7, 1814, in Franklin County (This could have been an illegitimate birth). We have no record of a wife or a marriage.) The family history says that Levi went to Ohio with the rest of the family, and that he went west from there and was never heard of again. Now I believe his son, James Levi ASHLEY, grew up in Huron County, and may have been raised by another member of the family. This is where my records fail me. James Levi ASHLEY migrated to Saint Louis, MO, in about 1840. He married well and founded a large family. I am his ggggrandson. We know he was born in Shutesbury, MA, in 1814. We have many records which say he migrated to Saint Louis from Ohio. Do you have any records of young James Levi ASHLEY living in Huron County under the care of one of his uncles or aunts? The time frame would have been after 1817 and before 1840.

Is there a chance you could look see if a John POOL, who died early in the year of 1842, might have been recorded, and if so, where? He may be buried at the last place of his residence, per his will. It was a place called Peru. The will was of course probated at Norwalk. I think his wife's name was Mary, but just when and where she died I don't know, but that also may be of some indicator. For sure John POOL died in 1842 at the age of late 50's or early 60's.
