I would like to contact any descendants of Lyman ADAMS, born 1827 in Orleans Co., NY and died 1915 in Huron County, Ohio. He married (1) Samantha A. WORTMAN, born 1835 in Ohio and died 2/11/1873. He married (2) Jane ATKINSON, born 1839 in Monroeville, Huron Co., Ohio and died in 1929 in Huron Co., Ohio. All are buried at the Riverside Cemetery, Ridgefield Township, Ohio. Lyman and Samantha WORTMAN had the following children: Albert ADAMS, born 1856; Harry C. ADAMS, born December 24, 1860, Monroeville, Huron Co., Ohio and died November 27, 1922 in Toledo, Ohio; and Charles J. ADAMS, born January 1868. Ken Shute Lookup Results-- I have some information that appears to relate to your BALLWIG family. Part I below contains references to a Peter BALLWIG found in our Huron County, Ohio publications. Part II contains references to Alfred and Leonard BALLWIG found on the web site www.ancestry.com. The surname in these references are spelled in such variations as BALLWIG, BALWIG, BALWEG, BALWICK, etc. Part I. Peter BALLWIG. First the good news. I think I found your Peter and Catherine BALWIG. Now for the bad news. There's at least three different Peters referenced, and two different Catherines. There are also two Peter and Catherine couples. Here's how they sort out. 1. I live in San Francisco and was recently home in southeast Michigan for the holidays. My father's family is from Monroeville, OH, but when I went to the Probate Court in Norwalk I didn't find much. One thing I did find was the will of my great-grandfather, Joseph SCHLACHTER. It said he was of Oxford Township, Erie County. He was born November 2, 1862 and died June 27, 1933.

I have been searching for my gggrandmother, Esther Converse STONE. The family tree is really quite complete with the STONE's from Huron/Erie Co. yet I lack the resources as to where to look and need advice. I'm searching for the Old Lake Shore Telegraph circa 1870's in Wakeman, Huron Co., Ohio. Esther was a telegrapher there for several years and I would like an article or two about the company and possibly a mention of her name. Who do I turn to for search of deeds to see when the Esther Converse STONE-BROWN family resided in Tater Hill or Cable? I have several pictures of the house into the early 1940's and my STONE family was living there at the time.

Ken Shute Look Up Results - I searched without success for your Esther Converse STONE in our Huron County, Ohio publications. I also checked our copy of Just Like Old Times, by Henry Timman, and our Huron County, Ohio, A Pictorial History, (chapter on Wakeman Township), published by the Norwalk Reflector, for any reference to "Old Lake Shore Telegraph," with no luck. I wonder if this latter name could refer to a telegraph office associated with the Lake Shore and Michigan RR, running in northern Ohio, later to become part of the New York Central RR? The search engine Google gives references to telegraphers for the Lake Shore and Michigan RR, one stationed at Milbury, OH, and another at Ashtabula, OH. There's also a reference to Lake Shore Electric Co., with housing at Vermillion, OH, which ran trolleys to Cleveland. I did find some STONEs holding property in Wakeman Township in roughly the period you mentioned, but don't know if they relate to your STONE family. Details- 1. Atlas of 1873, Huron County, Ohio. A. Looking for the parents, siblings, and location of Mary J. WOOD-b. 15 July 1812, m. Eli Nelson CHURCH 1 Sept 1831 in Huron Co., by F.N. JOHNSON (anyone have location or info on him?). Census records say she was born in Ohio, however, a biographical story on a son in 1887 states she was a native of Maryland. By 1832, she was located in Scipio, Secena Co., where I believe E. I just found out that my ggrandfather was born in Huron County, Ohio. James Levi CRAWFORD, April 1829. He married Clarissa HOUCK and I believe she was also from Huron Co. but I'm not sure. At some time they moved and then married in Jay Co. IN when he was 19 and she was 21. I am very interested in birth certificates and/or to find out his father and mother's names and anything else you might dig up. A member of my CRAWFORD family has done an 80 page research of James Levi CRAWFORD, my ggrandfather. It reads "James Levi CRAWFORD was born April 06, 1829 in Huron Co. and died March 10, 1908 in Portland, Jay Co. Indiana. He married Clarissa HOUCK, etc. She was born abt 1831 in Ohio or Virginia." I have no info on his father.
