I am searching for information regarding the parents of my GG Grandfather Daniel B. Ward. The known information to date being an Individual Genealogy Record (Mormon Church) as listing a Daniel B.Ward as having been born Feb 27 1806 in Georgetown, Sagadahoc County, Maine. His parents being James Ward and Ruth Brown. The 1850 US census lists him as living in Dresden Maine in 1850 Daniel B. Ward, 44, farmer, Maine; Abigail J.Norton Ward, 39. Children- Ebineser Ward, 22, blacksmith; Mary A Ward 20, Mass; Sataria P Ward, 17, Mass; William H Ward, 15; Julia Ward, 12; Zachariah N Ward, 8, (my G Grandfather); Abbey E Ward, 5; Daniel F Ward , 3; Gardnier Ward' 8 mo. Zacharia's military records lists him as enlisting in Co G 20th Maine Vol. Inf. at Woolwitch Maine on Aug 6th 1862. He was wounded twice in the Civil War and was discharged from hospital October 6 1865. His military pension application was witnessed by his Father Daniel B Ward at Lingus Centre, Essex County, Mass. on Oct 17 1865. His next whereabouts shows up in Norwalk, Huron County Ohio in 1868, where his first Son was born, Lewis Adam Ward (my Grandfather). He (Zacariah) then removed to Wood County, Ohio and I have him pretty well documented after that. Now, the plot thickens and why I need Huron County help. Having just recently remembered that my Grandfather (Lewis Adam Ward) was born in Huron County Oh. I checked out the Huron County Genealogy web page on the net an was astonished to learn that the local County Genealogy Society has documented everyone ever buried in the County. This had to be a "grave undertaking". (no pun intended) When looking up the Wards, I was further "astonished" to find nearly 200 "Wards" buried there. There is even a Ward Cemetery near Fitchville. Listed among the many Wards being buried in Huron County (where I do not know) are Daniel Brown Ward (608) & Abigail Jones/Norton Ward (608). These I believe to be my GG Grand Parents (formerly of Maine). Also buried in Huron county are James L Ward (636) & Ruth B Ward (640) James and Ruth, I believe to be Daniel's Father and Mother (see IGR file above) I hope to be in Huron County some time in September and I need to know the location of the cemetery where graves (608, 636 and 640 )are located.

I am seeking whatever information is available in Huron County about Margaret STUART DELO, whose address in the early 1900s was Chicago Junction, Oh. The Ohio Historical Society informs me that the post office was named for a train station, and when the post office was dissolved in 1918, mail was forwarded to Willard. Margaret STUART was born after 1865 in Meadville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania, one of six children of James STUART and Elizabeth STEBBENS STUART of Meadville. Her mother's obituary of March 1897 listed Margaret (Maggie) as married to a DELO and living in Chicago Junction, Ohio. I have been unable to locate data about the DELO line and wonder if this was a typo in the newspaper (perhaps Delong or another spelling). I wish to locate county court and newspaper records of Margaret in Huron County, as well as those of her husband. She is the only sibling in the family about whom I know nothing, including if she had any children.

Ken Shute Look Up Results - You may have to tromp a little further afield than Huron County. I checked our Huron County, Seneca County, and Erie County, Ohio Cemetery Inscriptions for an Amherst Cemetery (or any cemetery associated with the place name Amherst) withthout success. Our map of Ohio shows the place name of Amherst only in Lorain County, Ohio. After plugging "Amherst Cemetery" into Google, I finally worked my way to the following web site which gives the Cemetery Inscriptions for Lorain County, Ohio: www.centurytel.net/lorgen/cemetery/cemetery.htm. There are 11 cemeteries listed just for Amherst Township, Lorain County, Ohio. The index for these Cemetery Inscriptions shows the surname RAY (no REAs listed) only on page 3 for the Cleveland Street Cemetery in Amherst Township, namely- RAY J. d. Apr 4, 1872, 86y. Catherine, wife, 1828-1920. Frank B., 1846-1932. GAR. In addition to the above, I find in our 1870 Census Index for Lorain County, Ohio- Frederick RAY, Amherst Twp, page 0317. Joseph RAY, Black River Twp, page 0375. (No REAs were listed. Black River Twp adjoins Amherst Twp to the north.)

Middle, second section back-- Row 6. 6 Benj. F. STARK 1886- 1936. Of some additional interest is the marriage of a couple with essentially the same names as the ones you're interested in, which appear in the online IGI index (www.familysearch.org). However, the birth date of the Benjamin in this case (1754), and his birthplace (VA), differ to a fair degree from the birth date given for the Benjamin in the cemetery inscription above (1777) and the prior residency you give (VT). Details- From www.familysearch.org- Benjamin STARK m. Ann CHACE 11 Oct 1782, Goochland, Virginia. Aother reference: Benjamin STARK b. 1754 Of Goochland Co., Virginia m. Annie CHACE. This latter Benjamin STARK would appear to be about a generation older than the Benjamin STARK buried in the Hartland Ridge Cemetery. I found more information on the Benjamin STARK and family buried in Hartland Ridge Cemetery, Hartland Township, Huron County, Ohio. on the web site "genforum.genealogy.com" and is a posting made by a John Roution April 16, 2000. The subject line reads- "Re: decendents of Benjamin STARK & others," and is in response to a posting made by "Kelly," Jan. 19, 2000, same subject. There were quite a few other postings with this same subject heading threaded with Kelly's posting. Here is the info in Roution's posting. It lists Benjamin STARK's brothers and sisters (and relevant dates), including himself; the children of Benjamin STARK and Anne CHASE; the parents of Benjamin STARK; the siblings of his father; his grandparents; and his great grandfather. Benjamin STARK's brothers and sisters- Caleb b.1759 d.1838 m. Sarah Mckinstry; Archibald b. 1761; John Jr. b. 1763; Eleanor b. 1765 D. in infancy; Eleanor b.1767 M. Babson; Elizabeth b. 1771 m. Children of Benjamin STARK and Anne CHASE were- Sarah b. 1834; Joseph B. 1837 at Terryville Hill, Huron Co. Ohio d. May 10 1920 buried in Hartland Ridge Cemetary, married Mary Elizabeth WOOD; Daniel b. 1839; Betsy b. 1843; Mary b. 1845; Laury b. 1847; John b. 1849. Benjamin's parents were John STARK b.August 18 1728 in Londonerry, New Hampshire and died 1822 in Manchester, New Hampshire. He married Elizabeth WOOD. John's brothers and sisters were- Anne STARK; William; Samuel; Mary; Jean. Their parents were Archibald STARK b. 1693 m. Eleanor NICHOLS. and from there his Father was John STARK b. 1665. No idea who the mother is. Note that Benjamin STARK's birth year, birth place and death date is given in the first set of brothers and sisters. Also in the list of children are Joseph B. STARK and his wife Mary Elizabeth WOOD whose inscriptions appear in the Hartland Ridge Cemetery, along with those for Benjamin STARK and Ann CHASE. If you haven't already, you might want to visit genforum.genealogy. com, click on letter "S," click on "STARK" in the list of "S" names, then plug in "Benjamin STARK" in the little search engine that goes with the STARK page. You can then review other postings that relate to Benjamin STARK. You can also follow the same procedure on this web site for viewing any postings that might have been made on Ann CHASE.

My gggggrandmother, Jane Selleck LONGWELL was married to Rev War Veteran, Stephen LONGWELL. They were from Stamford, Fairfield co CT. Stephen died pre 1800 - probably in CT. Stephen's brother, David, was also a Rev War Vet and moved to NY around 1810. Stephen's son, Isaac LONGWELL came to Licking, Marion and Wyandott County OH as a young man with many children, around 1815. Another son, Selleck LONGWELL moved to southern Mich at this time, and lived in the Paw Paw, Van Buren, area for many years, establishing a school there. But the mother of these boys, Jane, was said to have died early 1800's in Sandusky, Huron County Ohio. I was told of a law suit there (although I havent seen these papers) between Jane LONGWEL and Cornelius HARSON - a distant relative. This must have been around 1810-1830. We dont know why Jane was living in Sandusky Huron CO, Ohio, but on the Internet, I did search on the name "Cornelius Harson" and found a man of this age who was an estate lawyer who executed wills in NY. Maybe that is what this law suit was about? Improper execution of her husband Stephen LONGWELL's will? Now comes the strange part - her son, Isaac LONGWELL is buried in Upper Sandusky, OH (Wyandott County). Now I'm wondering if there wasn't some past confusion regarding the name "Sandusky" and where exactly Jane Selleck LONGWELL died. Any insight from anyone?

Another 'stab in the dark'. Does anyone know of a Clark ELDRED? The time frame would be 1810-1830. I am never ending in my quest to find the surname to Johnston REA's wife. The census' show her first name as Lavina (one has a Melissa). Her daughter's death certificate says her mother's name was Mary EMMONDS. I searched Nick's Cuyahoga County site for EMMONS (there are none with the "D"). The site produced a Lavina EMMONS marrying a Clark ELDRED. This is in Volume 2, so would be an early marriage. My G-G-Grandfather Alexander MCPHERSON is buried in Rockland Cemetery, Belpre Twp., Washington Co., OH. His gravestone lists his birthdate as Jan 1, 1810 in Argyll, Scotland. His date of death is given as May 2, 1900. He (age 69), along with a son Alexander (34) and his wife Margaret (34), a daughter Anne (36), a son Thomas (36) and a grandson Alexander (9) are in Belpre Twp., Washington Co., OH in the 1880 census. The birthplace for all of these except the child Alexander is Scotland. The child was born in Ohio. My G-Grandfather Donald and his wife and family are in Olive Twp., Meigs Co., OH in 1880. My G-Grandfather was also born in Scotland; his wife Margaret (nee WRIGHT) was born in WV. My G-Grandfather and all of his Family along with his brother Thomas (married in 1884 to Emily S. PLUMLEY) and his family are in Belpre Twp in the 1900 census. Anne McPherson married Alexander Galbraith in 1881. My dilemma is that in the 1900 census all 3 of the Alexanders and Anne and her husband are not in Belpre Twp. I can find no obituary for the older Alexander in 1900 and he does not appear in the Washington Co. OH Death Register. A kind lady from another list found an Alexander for me in the 1900 Mid-Atlantic census in Bronson Twp., Huron Co WV. I couldn't find a Huron Co. in WV and asked her to recheck her source. She said she gave it to me as it appeared so I am hoping the listing erred and it is really Huron Co. OH. Another problem with her data is that it did not list ages, other persons in the household, or Country of Birth. If Bronson Twp. is in your County and if anyone on this list can provide information so that I may determine if this Alexander is my G-G-Grandfather (nearly 90) or my G-Grandfather's brother Alexander (about 64) or the youngest Alexander (about 29), I will be extremely grateful.

I am looking for information on Joseph MYERS who came to Ridgefield twp. from Baden. My grandmother dates his arrival 1834. I do not know his wife's name, however, he brought sons, Agada, Michael and george. George eventually owned Joseph's farm on Halfway Rd (Sauwalt rd). George was married first to Catherine BUCHER in 1859, and then to a woman named Barbara. I do not have dates for Joseph or a birth date for George, but George died in 1880. Barbara was alive at the time of his death. Catherine died sometime before 1870. I have not been able to chose the correct names for these people from the cemetery inscription book and feel I'm sending volunteers on a wild goose chase by trying to guess which page to ask for next. Also, I have located in the 1845 plat map, the plot of land that I feel certain is where my grandfather's farm is located. However, the land is split into several small lots. No one that I can connect to my family owns this land in spite of the fact that the family homestead is supposed to be existing there in 1845. However, there is a Blassins MEYERS and an Anthony MYERS who owned land there according to the map. Is it possible that the map is too difficult to read and someone had to make a best guess about what the first names were? I can find no reference to either of these men, even in the cemetery inscription index. If anyone knows anything about these people, please let me know.

Ken Shute Look Up Results - In our 1845 Plat Book for Huron County, Ohio, I find the same Blassins MEYERS and Anthony MYERS in the Index. They both own property in secton 1, lot 11 of Ridgefield Twp - page 5 of the map. When I look at this location on page 5 of our printed map, those same two names clearly appear, with others, in secton 1, lot 11, except BLASSINS is spelled "BLESSINS." Unfortunately, the quality of the image in the web site for this same location makes it very difficult to make out the names. They are readable however on our printed page. Just to check further, I looked at each of the succeeding printed map pages 6, 7, & 8, for sections 2, 3 & 4 respectively, for the name George MEYERS/MYERS. It turned out there was a Geo. MEYERS shown owning property in section 2, lot 13, 17 acres, on page 6. If you go to the image on the web site for this map page, you will find him at the top of the page, clearly readable. For some reason, his name was omitted from the printed index. In our 1873 Atlas for Huron County, Ohio, I also find a Geo. MYER owning property in Ridgefield twp: section 1, lot 6, 103.33 acres, and section 1, lot 11, 40 acres - on page 9. I found no record of a Joseph MEYERS/MYERS. Our Huron County, Ohio Marriages, by Scheuer Publications, shows marriages for the following- George MYERS m. Bethesda BOWERS 24 Mar 1824. George MYERS m. Catharine BUTCHER 18 May 1852. George MYER m. Barbary FRIENT 26 Sep 1867 Michael MYERS m. Mary Ann DEMFLEE 1 May 1848. And finally, in our 1870 Census Index for Huron County, Ohio, I find- George MYER, born Baden, census page 461, Norwalk Village.

I am looking for John KNAPP, who is supposed to have died in Huron County (b. 1761). He was a veteran of the Revolution. I found listed in the book KNAPP J , 464; KNAPP J. Murray 417; KNAPP, J.D. 118, 556 and J.S. 405. Would it be possible for someone to check these and see if any of these is John KNAPP, born 1761, and if there is a mention about the revolution?

Ken, I'm wondering why you come up with 2 marriages that I have looked for numerous times, yet cannot find even now in the Huron County, Ohio Marriages that exists on the website. I believe that you have indeed found my George and his wives. Also, I have seen the Geo. MYERS on the plat map, but since I am so certain of the location of this farm (I was there just last month), it never occurred to me that this may be my George. Apparently he acquired this land later than Grandma thought. Still searching for some connection to Blessins or Anthony.

Ken Shute Look Up Results - I have a few more bits and pieces that might relate to your George MEYERS. I also found one reference to an Anthony MEYERS, but nothing on Blessins MEYERS so far. Here they are- 1. History of the Firelands, by W.W. Williams, 1879. Page 264. Section on Ridgefield Township. Mentions George MEYER, wife, and father were among the original members of the Evangelical Protestant Church which was first organized Feb. 10, 1861. Page 266. Under heading of Mills- Mentions that the first saw mill in Ridgefield Township was built by Richard and Henry Burt in 1817. It then goes on to say that: "A grist and saw mill was next built by George MYERS in the northeast part of the township. These were located on the Huron river and have long since gone into decay." 3. Early Estate Index, Huron County Ohio Court Records, 1812-1852. Anthony MEYERS, Will, Jun 1851, husband of Barbara . Sources- Probate Docket # 2; page 46. Common Pleas Journal # 9; page 493. Will Record "A"; page 268. Summarizing land ownership for MEYERS/MYERS/MYER in Section 1, lot 11, and Section 1, lot 6, Ridgefield Twp, in 1845, 1873 and 1891 we find- a. Plat Book of 1845, Huron County, Ohio, Section 1, Lot 11 (page 5) is owned by- Jacob Greenfielder, 99.6 acres. Blessins MEYERS, 20 acres. Peter Houck, 18 acres. Jacob G. Teller, 22 acres. Gregory Keeeler, 20 acres. E. Dominick & J. Miller, 24.33 acres. Anthony MEYERS, 20 acres. Section 1, lot 6 (page 5) is owned in its entirety by Timothy Baker, 215 acres. b. Atlas of 1873, Huron County, Ohio, Section 1, lot 11 (page 9). Owned in part by George MYER, 40 acres. Section 1, lot 6 (page 9). Owned in part by George MYER, 103.3 acres. (This map shows the location of the residence, an apparent (unnamed) road neaby, and the east branch of the Huron River also nearby.) c. Atlas of 1891, Huron County, Ohio, Section 1, Lot 11 (page 13).. Owned in part by Louis & G. MYERS, 40 acres (appears to be same 40 acres as in 1873). Section 1, lot 11 (page 13) Owned in part by Louis & G. MYERS, 113.3 acres. Final Comment: The George MYERS I reported owning property in Section 2, lot 13, 17 acres of Ridgefield Twp in 1845 is no longer seen owning this property in the 1873 atlas. However, a second look at both atlases indicates that the Huron River appears to run through or near this same property, which would track with the item in the Fireland book that a George MYERS built a grist and saw mill in the northeast corner of the township, located on the Huron River. This property is more or less in the northeast corner of Ridgefield Twp.

I have been trying to find out if I have any COLE cousins. The COLE side of my family has been a mystery for years. I have documented it back to my Gr. Grandfather Ezra L. COLE b Jan 30, 1848 d April 27, 1933. In the 1850 Huron County census there is a Levi and Eliza COLE family listed with 5 children, Irwin (Irvin) age 6, Casimer P. age 5, Rachael E., age 4, Ezra age 2 and Caroline age 1/12. I believe that the Ezra listed there to be my Ezra. The age would be right. So far I have been unable to locate any birth/death records other than old papers of my Grandmothers. Another possible COLE cousin (decendent of Irvin) has supplied me with the following- Levi COLE b 30/20 Nov1766 in Windham,Conn died 11Feb1820 in Norwalk,Ohio m 24Feb1790 in Windham,Conn wife Hannah H. This is the family I am researching. I am trying to find the parents of Mary REED. I believe her father is buried in North Fairfield Cemetery and died when she was a child. She moved to Stueben Co Ind shortly after her father's death and her family lived with her grandparents. What happened to her mother after Mary married Frank REED? and what happened to Mary after Frank died in 1894?
