I'm looking for information on what happened to Charles Wallace FRENCH, born September 2, 1962 and died sometime after 1929. Charles, or Charlie, was born in Wakeman, Ohio and resided for a time in Sandusky and then Mansfield. He had notoriety as a swindler and last reports have him on trial in Chicago. Does anyone know what happened to him? Date of death or any other information. Charlie was apparently the black sheep of the family.

He died on Apr 19 1861 and was survived by his wife and a number of children. They had been living in Richmond Township for over 10 years prior to his death. Does anyone know if there was an obituary or will for him? Also, his wife Catherine (BAER) was later buried in a Mennonite cemetery in Fulton County. Can anyone tell me if there were any Mennonite or Dunkard congregations in this area?

I am researching Caroline WATERMAN BUTMAN and any of her family. She died in 1874 at Milan, OH. I think her mother's name was Elizabeth but her father's name is unknown. She had a daughter, Martha BUTMAN, who died in 1894 and is buried in an unmarked grave at Milan. Also, would anyone know of a THROOP family who lived in the Milan area? I have several ancestors by that name, but I don't know where they lived for sure. Horatio THROOP was a first cousin to Martha (BUTMAN) BROWN, my g. grandmother. He was a lake captain on the boat Ontario Oswego and I just found out his boat started from Oswego, NY. This is the only clue I have so far. There was also a Susan and Delia THROOP who may be related.

Seeking information On a Terence MONEGHAN. Born in Ireland in 1815. Sometime during 1820-1838 came with his family to the United states. Point of entry New York. Married Ruth Ann WEBB in 1839, Berlin, Wakeman Township, Huron County. Marriage certificate listed surname as MANAHAN. Ruth and Terence had several children. In 1840's surname changed to MONEGHAN. Huron County listed Terence's death as Dec. 1852. No cause or gravesite given. However, the Obituary Record of Wakeman Township, listed the death of a 6 month old son of T. MONEGHAN, and also listed the death of a Torrence MONEGHAN (Irish) on Dec.16, 1852. Could these MONEGHANS be the same person? Both shared the last name and both died in Dec. Am wondering if an o instead of an e could have been mistakenly printed. Was told that his gravesite was 855, then contacted later telling me that this was the gravesite of a woman, but no name was mentioned.

I am wondering how many family names from my small area of Bath, Clinton Co, Michigan are also prevalent, or were, in the Townsend, Milan area of Huron Co, OH. So many that I have seen mentioned are also here, such as MEAD, VAN_VLECK, BARNARD, CUSHMAN, VAN_SCOY, FLEMING, CONKRITE, and others. Many are also showing up in New York and Dutch Colonies lists. I wonder if most of them followed the same migration pattern that my family did. VAN_NOSTRAND's started out in New Jersey, then to town of Italy, Yates Co NY where I find my SIMMONS, THATCHERS, GRIFFINS who may also have been in NJ. Next they are in Huron Co in mid 1850's and some came on to Michigan where they settled in Clinton, Shiawassee, Ingham Counties and spread out from there. All comments welcome, please.

I am John COLE and am trying to compile a geneaology. Thus far, it has been rather disappointing as I have very few results from my computerized search. I believe, but don't actually know, that my father, Guy Merriman COLE, was born in Norwalk. His father was Guy COLE, a doctor, and his mother was Louella COLE. His birth date would be in the first decade of this century. I recall visiting Norwalk on numerous occasions as a child (I learned how to read maps and determine gas mileages) when we would drive down from Detroit. Grandmother passed away there in the 60's and is buried in Norwalk. What I am interested in is any birth records for my father and death records for my grandmother. I am new at this and, if you feel I should seek additional info, please let me know.
