I know that the Remleys were from Baden but which town I don't know. I have been researching most Fischers because two of the Remley's married brothers Andrew and Anthony Fischer soon after their arrival in Huron County from Baden. I am working on the assumption that they either met aboard the ship or came from the same town. Until I find that town I can't go any further back.

Does anyone have information about CAPTAIN HENRY LEWIS who died "near Monroeville" in April 1837? I do not find him listed in the Huron County Cemetery Book. His wife died later in New York state. His step children, WILLIAM and RACHEL FLETCHER, are shown in W. W. William's History of the Fire Land, page 264, as children attending the first school in Ridgefield Township, Monroeville Village (date not given). Would like to locate the Lewis grave and further information about him and his family and their life in Huron County. I have some information about William who married and settled in Clarksfield and about Rachel who married James Raymond and is buried in Lyme Township. Other Fletcher children included Nancy, Emma and James. (I think James moved to the Cleveland area, but haven't found him anyplace. There were supposedly LEWIS children also, but I do not know their names. Is anyone else researching any portion of this family?

I'm confused and getting frustrated. According to all personal writings Israel and Lucy Ann (Heltman) STALEY were married and lived in Ashland, OH around mid 1800s, but I found them on the 1850 Clarksfield Township, Huron County, OH census, with one child (Joseph, born 1849). I believe they had at least two daughters (names and dates unknown) and one more son, Jeremiah H. born in OH 1859, but haven't found ANY of them anywhere except on this census.

In 1924, a Mrs. Emerson McKENNEY wrote for Rev War pension records of George WAGGONER. The pension had been filed by his widow, Mary WAGGONER. Mary and at least 2 sons, Israel & Cyrus WAGGONER, and some grandchildren had lived in the Huron and Erie county areas in 1840 and after. Mrs. McKENNEY lived in Willard, Huron County, and apparently was a descendant researching the family. Any ideas how I can locate Mrs. McKenney's relatives? Thanks for any help.

This might not be too much help, but I thought I would share it. My ancestors, Chauncey & Sarah GOBLE came to North Monroeville from Luzerne Co., PA about 1860. Chauncey's mother was Esther CANFIELD. She and her husband had come to Luzerne Co. from Orange Co., NY about 1830. After her husband's death, she went back to Orange Co. (the town of Minisink) and later died there. It's not much help I know, but I thought it might give some areas in which to look. Also, many years ago I was in touch with a woman who was working on a detailed CANFIELD family history. She lived in Ontario, NY, I believe. I will see if I can find her address or any contact information about her. If I do, I will send it along to you.
