NOTES: 1850, 1860, 1870, 1880 Ripley County, Indiana censuses. Cemetery records. Much information not only about birth and deaths, but also about the lives of Milton Moon Henderson and his children comes from the extensive writings of Clinton F. Henderson. He compiled a family history in 1928, and continued to explore and write about the family as long as he lived, including extended visits with his brothers and sisters across the United States. Clint was a Seventh Day Adventist preacher; my grandmother, Rissa Hammon Henderson, remarked that his visits used too last a bit too long for her patience, especially as his religious convictions precluded meat in the diet. She confessed that she took a bit of mischievous delight in serving them meat disguised as a vegetarian dish, and that Clint's wife, Inez, worked just as hard to serve vegetarian dishes and convince the others that it was meat-based.

Mary S. Richards

NOTES: Mary's tombstone, which is still very legible, give the birth and death dates, and the birth location. Haldrough Hill, however, seems to have disappeared, at least outside local reference. It may well be a place name local to Jessamine County, Kentucky.

4. Jane W. Richards

5. Mary S. Richards

6. Allen Richards

NOTES: James Richards enlisted in the Revolutionary War, 1775, from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and re-enlisted at the end of that year for 3 or 4 years, or for the duration of the war. 1st Pennsylvania Regiment; he fought at the Battle of Quebec under Benedict Arnold, and later at Princeton, after which he was taken prisoner near Dearby, by the Hessians. Worked as a tailor in Jessamine County, Kentucky, following the war. Pension # S35627, Jessamine County. There was a sizable Richards family in Pennsylvania, of Welsh extraction, several of whom fought for the Colonies during the Revolution. It is like that James is a part of this family.
