 From left: John Choate, holding Esther Choate (Sexton), Amanda Findley Choate, Robert Eaton Findley, Samuel Findley (standing - between parents), Eleanor Atkinson Findley, William Samuel Lavender, holding Edna Ibedell Lavender (Vinzant) and Mary Ann Findley Lavender. William Samuel and Mary Ann are definitely identified by comparison with contemporary pictures. Age of baby on right (Edna) is consistent with date of 1904 which comes from note on back of picture, "when we left Tennessee". Edna was born on 24 July 1904, William Samuel Lavender family left TN for Texas later in 1904. I am a bit puzzled by note on bottom of picture which says "Baby on left is Edna" - maybe on left facing camera? Identification has been confirmed more recently by Esther Choate Sexton (above) on 16 July 1996 in Wartburg, TN. |
