A. R. Hogue: Part Two, Personal Sketches, p. 79Joshua OwenJoshua Owen was the son of Bailey Owen, who was a pioneer settler on the Fast Fork,
below Roatland, where Joshua was born, and spent his long and useful life. He married a
daughter of John Beaty, another pioneer. He
was a Justice of the Peace for many years. It is doubtful if anyone ever held the office
longer, or performed a greater number of marriage ceremonies, than he did. He also tried
the celebrated witchcraft case,.an account of which has already been given. |
