Jahue Richard Beaty was born September 10, 1898 at Gatesville, Texas, the youngest of twelve children born to Joseph Wood Beaty and Mary Jane Crabtree Beaty. He attended a one room schoolhouse, called Bankhead School, near Pecan Grove. Some of his brothers and sisters were married with families of their own when he was born. He grew up with his nieces and nephews.

Maggie May Mars was born July 27, 1901 at Pendleton, Texas, the oldest of nine children born to Will and Rosa (Holder) Mars. She attended the Liberty Hill and Hones Hill schools near Moody. (See story on William Earnest and Rosa Mars).

Maggie’s sister, Willie, was married to Richard’s nephew, Joe Pruett. Richard was visiting there and met Maggie. Richard and Maggie were married January 2, 1927, in Oglesby at the home of M.V. Dalton, J.P. They made Oglesby their home for most of the 33 years of their married life. Richard was engaged in farming. They had six children. Charles Ray Beaty, born 2-5-1928, died 8-7-1974, buried at Post Oak Cemetery, near Oglesby; J. R. Beaty, born 9-26-1929; James William Beaty, born 2-14-1932; Carl Wesley Beaty, born 3-3-1936; Urcel Lorane Beaty (Herrick), born 8-28-1938; Rosie Christeen Beaty (Mayfield) born 9-24-1941.

Richard was a quiet man. He enjoyed reading, listening to the radio, and doing jigsaw puzzles. He thoroughly enjoyed visiting with relatives. Maggie was an outgoing person that loved everyone. She enjoyed raising flowers, and she always enjoyed having her children and grandchildren around.

Richard suffered a severe heart attack and had to give up farming. In 1959, they left the farm and moved to a house in Oglesby. He enjoyed visiting with the men downtown, and sometimes joined them in a game of croquet. He died may 29, 1960 at 4 am at his home in Oglesby, buried at Post Oak Cemetery.

Maggie moved to McGregor in 1961. She was involved with her family, and enjoyed attending church and Sunday School. She died at her home in McGregor April 21, 1972, buried at Post Oak Cemetery in Oglesby. At this time, Richard and Maggie have 21 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
