Rutherford And Gertie Ellen Delk

 Rutherford B. (R.B.) was the son of Elis and Nancy Ann Delk. He was born July 31, 1877 and died May 3,1953. Gertie Ellen was the daughter of Jesse Young Patton and Melvina Crabtree. She was born April 13, 1885.

R.B. and Ellen were married at Forbus, Tennessee November 3, 1897 by Bill Upchurch. Witnesses to the wedding were James (Jim) Berry and Mary Jane Patton. They lived in Fentress County, Tennessee most of their lives.

R.B. and Ellen had eight children. They were: Vina Valentine (Valen) born February 2, 1902. Valen was a housewife and mother. She died August 14, 1984 and is buried in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Vera Violet was born June 8, 1904 and was a housewife and mother. She died March 10, 1978 and is buried at Memorial Gardens at Allardt, Tennessee. Jesse Warden was born September 22, 1906. He was a merchant and retired schoolteacher. Rosa Ellis was born April 12, 1908 and was a housewife, mother and a retired teacher. Ruby Ann was born September 14, 1911 and was a housewife, mother and a retired teacher. She taught twenty-five years in the Fentress County schools. Noble Rutheford was born October 28, 1913. Noble was a merchant at Monterey, Tennessee for several years. He died January 17, 1979 and is buried at Monterey, Tennessee. Patton Edward was born September 4, 1916. Patton was a soldier during World War II and a merchant. He died in 1979. Warren G. (Jack) was born May 6, 1918. Jack was a sailor during World War II and a retired factory worker. He is buried in Muncie, Indiana.

R.B. and Ellen had three children who died in infancy.
