Oran H. Beaty, 29BA, 34MA, of Council Bluffs, was recently honored by the Iowa Vocational Education Association with the organization's creation of the Oran Beaty Leadership Award-an annual award to recognize the dedication and lifetime accomplishments of retired educators and others who have been leaders in vocational training. The first recipient of the award, Beaty continues to work on behalf of all types of education and remains active in both the Kiwanis and in the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE).

Charles Beatty -- TWA Flight 800 victim

Fredericksburg area resident Charles Beatty was headed for Italy
on a mission to improve the information systems of the USS La
Salle, a command ship supporting the peacekeeping effort in
Bosnia.

Beatty, 50, was an electrical engineer at the Naval Surface
Warfare Center in Dahlgren, about 40 miles east of
Fredericksburg. ...
