Francis Roland McDonnell and Bertie Lillian York

Francis Roland3 McDonnell (Francis2, Bridget1 Blaney, DanielA) was born in Austin, Cass Co. Missouri on 20 December 1883, the son of Francis McDonnell and Mary Olive Brown. [1]

Roland attended the Central Business College in Sedalia, and at age 25, c. 1913, moved to Montana, where his sister Joda Elder and other members of the McDonnell family had resettled. [2] He may have been the Francis McDonnell who purchased 80 acres of land in Fallon Co., near Baker, in June 1912. [3] In 1917 he was living in Beebe, Custer Co. [4] He later settled in California, and during a stay in Missouri, met Mrs. Bertie Lillian Clark, neé York, whom he had known in his youth. They married 20 July 1955. [5] Bertie was born in Missouri 9 July 1890, the daugher of Jonathan Edgar York. a liveryman in Harrisonville, and Jueletta Ellen Barnard, both born in Missouri. Bertie was the widow of Robert A. Clark, with whom she had two children. [6]

The couple resided in California for years, then returned to Everett, in Cass Co. There Roland died in 1960 at the age of 76. [7] Bertie moved to Archie in 1972, and outlived her husband by 26 years, dying on 28 January 1986 in Butler, Bates Co. MO at the age of 95. [8]
