Iva L. McDonnell and George G. Burke

Iva Lea3 McDonnell (Henry B.2, Bridget1 Blaney, DanielA) was born 7 February 1871 in Missouri, the daughter of Henry B. McDonnell and Elizabeth Parker. [1]

On 6 September 1893 Iva married George G. Burke in Harrisonville, Cass Co. MO. His residence was given as Harrisonville; hers as Austin. [2] George was born in Missouri in June 1864 of English parents. By 1900 George owned a farm in Grand River township, and they were the parents of two boys. [3]

The Burkes were apparently close to Iva's parents, since both families moved to Wilcox, Cochise Co. AZ and were living there in 1910. George was working as a salesman at a general merchandise store, and also owned a farm free of mortgage. Presumably this, like his father-in-law's, was a homestead claim. [4] And when the McDonnells moved to Gardena, in Los Angeles Co. CA, the Burkes joined them again. There George owned another farm. [5] They were still living in Gardena in 1930, in a home they owned valued at $5000, but chose not to own a radio. George was apparently retired, since the census indicated that they were not living on a farm, and he was listed as having no occupation not was he unemployed. [6]

Iva died in Los Angeles Co. on 22 July 1955. George's date of death is unknown. [7]

Iva Lea McDonnell and George G. Burke had the following children:

+ i. Henry Wendell Burke was born in Missouri on 16 April 1895 and died in May 1970 in CA. [8]
+ ii. George R. Burke was born in October 1897 in Missouri. [9]
