In the name of God amen. I Thomas Burbridge of Spotsylvania County and Parish of St. Georges being weak and low of body but of sound and disposing mind and memory calling to mind the mortality of my Body, and knowing its appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my will and Testament in manner and form following First I give my soul to God that gave it and recommend my body to the Earth to be Buried in a Christian like manner at the discretion of my Executors herein after named, in full and certain hope of rising again at the general Resurrection. Imprimess I will that all my Just Debts and funeral charges be first paid and discharged by my Executors. Item I give and bequeath to my son Thomas Burbridge and his heirs forever one Negro Lad named James, which said Negro he's had in Possession some time past. Item I give and bequeath to Daughter Mildred Robinson one Negro woman named Lucy to her & her heirs forever, which sd Negro she has had several years possession. Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah Ealley and her Heirs forever one Negro Girl named Patt with all her future increase. Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Frances Smith and her Heirs forever one Negro woman named Dinah together with all her increase from Last year (eighty nine) Item I give and bequeath to my son Linsfield Burbridge and his heirs forever one Negro woman Ross and all her futer increase also privilage of living where he's now situate three or four years after my deceased. Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Mary Bullett and her Heirs forever one young negro Woman named Mima and all her futer increase which said Negro she has had some time past in Possession. Item I give and bequeath to my son George Burbridge one Young negro Woman named Anna also two small negro Girls named Hannah and Cate with their futer increase to him and his Heirs forever and the privilage of living on the place where he is now situated three or four years after my deceas. Item I give and bequeath to my Grand son Thomas Burbridge son of Robt Burbridge deceas'd Twenty Shillings Current money to be paid by my Executors. Item I give and bequeath all the remainder part of my Estate both real and personal Viz. all my lands, Negroes goods & Chattles to be equally divided, by sale or Otherwise as they can best agree amongst my eight Children to Them and their Heirs forever, namely my son Thomas Burbridge my daughter Mildred Robinson my Daughter Sarah Ealley my daughter Frances Smith my Daughter Elizabeth Branham my son Linsfield Burbridge my daughter Mary Bullett and my son George Burbridge all other will or wills I hereby revoke and make void, and do hereby make and Constitute Robert Smith Linsfield Burbridge and George Burbridge Executors to this my last will & Testament signed with my hand and sealed with my seal the sixteenth day of January in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & ninety

NOTE: The above document was copied from a Xerox copy of the original as
found on the microfilm at the Archives in Richmond, VA. I have tried
to use the same spelling, punctuation and capitalization to the best of my
ability - spacing is the only thing that I have changed. Some of the words
are spelled wrong but I have used them that way such as futer for future.
Also, it is interesting to find that daughter Elizabeth Branham was not mentioned
in the individual bequeaths but is named in the division of the remainder of the estate.
Her name is underlined in the will. I have not
found the Administrative Bond, Inventory, Settlement or Sale of the Estate.
