Elizabeth Woolmn Wiggins

October 29, 1999

James Woolman and Alice Lewis had two children only. They were named Lewis
Woolman and Elizabeth L. Woolman. Lewis never married and Elizabeth married
Dr. Charles A. Wiggins. Yeah, Wiggins. So judging by the mere fact that
you have their pictures together and named as such, I would be willing to
bet that they are indeed the Lewis and Elizabeth Woolman I speak of.

As far as their connection to a Bailey family history......well, I really
want to sit down and have the time to look through all your unknowns, but at
a quick glance, I see Ballingers, Stokes, Watsons. Those are all names that
have married into the Woolman family.

Now that may have significance because Lewis, towards the end of his life,
set about trying to document the family tree. Upon his death, Elizabeth
Wiggins determined to continue his work and document not only the direct
lineage of him and herself, but cousins and all. She was the Great
Communicator, writing to cousins as far away as Washington State, Idaho and
Missouri, as well as close to home, New Jersey. This may be how her photos
could have feasibly come into your collection.

I really need to sit down and look through my database to determine if there
are any connections. I will not be able to do that until tonight or
tomorrow morn, because I need to run back out in a few minutes, but I look
forward to seeing the remainder of your site.

Are you interested in what info I have on Lewis and Elizabeth? It isn't
much, but you're certainly welcome to it.
May I ask how you came in to possession of your collection? And where you
came into possession of it? LOVE the idea of posting them.

James' father was Joel Woolman and he started a dairy that eventually
became Sealtest.

Elizabeth's daughter was still unmarried in 1911, and I am not sure that she
ever married.

James is the great-grandnephew of John Woolman (1720-1772). [James'
g-grandfather was brother to John.]

There is a colonial house kept in his honor in Mount Holly, the John
Woolman Memorial Association. That is who published my genealogy. If you
would like to learn a little about the Association, check out Woolman
Central at http://homepages.msn.com/HobbyCt/woolmans/woolman.html
John's journal is at the crux of the Quaker faith today.

I have included Elizabeth's photo in the photo album indicating that it is a
photo in your possession and included your email in the caption. So if ever
you receive e-mail in reference from this, you'll know why.

And if I haven't thanked you before, let me do so now. I was so very happy
to finally see a face to go with the elusive Elizabeth. I have been trying
to chase her for a while now!

Judy
