Noah Cripe, according to family legend, was the 3rd white child born in Elkhart Co, IN.

Cripe, Noah, son of John and Susanna Cripe, born near Goshen, Ind. March 31, 1833, died at his home near Syracuse, Ind., Jan 22, 1913, aged 79 years, 9 months and 22 days. He was married to Lydia Anna Hamman Feb. 25, 1856. To this union eight children were born. Four of them are still living. His first wife died Jan 1, 1892. Then he was married to Rachel Markley Oct 14, 1893. She died Sept 16, 1896. Afterwards he married Margaret Miller Oct 24, 1898, who survives him. He united with the Brethren church when he was young. Services at the Tippecanoe church by the writer. Text, Deut. 30:19.--F.O. Richcreek, Syracuse, Ind.
