Patrick,
I came across your
information about Lawrence Anderson at ancestry.com. Was this information sent to you by my cousin Janice
Anderson? Some of it I find confusing
but the presentation sure does sound like Janice. Last I talked with her she said we had a verbal history of
Lawrence coming from Scotland (not England).
Lawrence came into Maryland in 1671 as an indentured servant. Does this match your records?
There is also a
Lawrence Anderson up in New England about this time. Do you have any information on him?
I appreciate any
information you are able to give,
Lowry Anderson

I was tracing Betsy and
Betsy and Elizabeth or the same person. There were a number of Nathaniel
Andersons and they are connected to Garland.
I had Betsy(Elizabeth)
Anderson in Spotsylvania,VA.1810 with a 20-45 male at home and is prob.
Garland,Anderson and Garland is in the 1820 Va. census on page p.76 with 3 sons
and 2 daughters. He is on p.112 in Franklin,Tn.1830 with 4 sons and 2 daughters
and no wife. Last I have him in Coffoe Co.Tn. on p.63 1850 with 21 year old
Nancy and 7 year old named Mary.

I am sending you four
generations of descendants that I have.
There were several more Andersons in Bourbon County who could have been
the children of George but since he didn't leave a will, I don't have anything
to go on. I am assuming that George is
Reuben's (you will also see Rueben and I have seen Ruben also) father because
he was the administrator of the estate, the dates of birth and death would be
correct, and because Reuben named one of his daughter's Disey.
I am descended from
Reuben's son, Meredeth, and I have quite a bit more info on that side of the
family.

she mentions in her will were the children of George and not John.

Dear Pat, I noticed in
various postings that you've done, also, that you list Martha Meador Anderson
as dying in Buckingham co in 1841. I
believe Richard may have died there also, instead of Cumberland co. There is a Richard Anderson, in the 1810
Buckingham co VA census, who seems to fit the right age category.

Dear Patrick, I'm
wondering of the Richard Anderson on your site, with a wife Martha Meador could
be the Capt Richard Anderson, whose daughter, Eliza, married James Cody in
Buckingham co VA on 3 Jan 1805? I found
this marriage in a book "Lost Buckingham County, Virginia Marriages"
by Randy Kidd and Jeanne Stinson. All
we've known is that when James Cody's mother, Ann, wrote her will in Prince
Edward co VA on 19 March 1813, that James was deceased. One of her heirs was a granddaughter, Martha
James Cody. James was mentioned as
being a merchant in this book. He would
have been about 45 years old at the time of the marriage, if it's the same James
Cody, as he served in the Rev War, enlisted on 13 Jan 1778. We think he was probably 18.
Thanks for your
help. I'm enjoying the music you have
on your site as I write this.

Patrick: I am descended from the marriage of Lewis D.
Veal and Nancy L. Anderson, Putnam County, GA February 8, 1816. I believe she is the daughter of David
Anderson and Mourning White but cannot put my finger on a document that states
this fact.
Here's why I believe
it to be true.......
David Anderson (you
have him deceased before 1824 in the Florida Indian Wars), actually died in
1814 in Putnam County. Estate
records reflect an order for Letters of
Administration (Minute Book A, Page 79) on 5/2/1814 with Mourning Anderson and
Micajah White Administrators. In the
same book and page - Inventory and Appraisers were appointed and in Bond A,
Page 69, a $2000 bond was paid. On
5/14/1814, the Inventory and Appraisal were completed and filed. (I have copies of all of these documents).
The Annual Returns,
Return Book A, Page 268-269, reflects that Lewis D. Veal (Nancy L. Anderson's
husband) was paid $36.00 from the estate and from the years 1815, 1816 there
were 5 children. Later returns 1817 -
1823 state 4 children. On March 7,
1825, Lewis D. Veal puts up $600 securities for each child for Elijah Anderson
(brother of David) to become the guardian of 4 children named: David B. Anderson, Elizabeth W. Anderson,
Jane A. Anderson and Jesse W. Anderson.
On December 3, 1827,
Elijah takes "Leave to sell realty and personalty in Virginia". When he returns in 1828 monies totaling
$259.46 from the estate of George Anderson was posted to the account for David
Anderson and Jane Anderson - still minors)
The estate also paid him for "going to and returning from
Virginia" $12.00. The guardian was
dismissed in 1830. (I have David
Bradley Anderson being born in 1809 which would be about right for his 21st
birthday in 1830)
David Bradley Anderson
lived with Lewis and Nancy in DeKalb County, Georgia in 1830. He married Harriett Kilgore in 1838 and they
had 13 children. The names of some of
the children reflect family such as:
Morning Jane Anderson, James Lewis Anderson, Nancy V. Anderson (probably
Nancy Veal Anderson after who I think was his sister), William D. Anderson,
George Washington Anderson, Thomas Jefferson Anderson, etc.
Lewis D. Veal died in
1839. Nancy L. Anderson Veal and
children moved to Russell County, Alabama in 1848 where she died in
1852/3. I have all of the Estate
papers including copies of the bills submitted and her Will. They only had two boys, one was named David
Bradley (her side of the family) and the other Francis DeKalb (Lewis' father's
name).
A lot of people have
put out some misinformation on this part of the Anderson family and I am really
trying to make sense of it. I only go
by documents and I have all of the documents named above.
By the way, David
Anderson, Micajah White and Lewis D. Veal all served in the War of 1812 in
Alexanders Bttn' Georgia Militia.
SO, I AM HOPING THAT
SOMEONE WILL HAVE THE CONNECTION I AM LOOKING FOR - THAT BEING NANCY L.
ANDERSON, DAUGHTER OF DAVID AND MOURNING, OR SISTER OF DAVID AND ELIJAH. I think that Nancy L. would have been born
between 1790 - 1800 if she married in 1816.
Lewis was born in 1790 in Amherst County, VA.

Joel Anderson

Roaring River, near Blackburn's Fork Creek.

Hi Patrick,
Can you tell me about
Joel Anderson's 2nd wife Anna Shasteen?
Joel was born 31 Aug 1781 in Cumberland Co., VA and died 30 Dec, 1852
Williamson Co., TN according to your info.
A family history book published in Jackson Co., TN stated they had one
daughter. What was her name and who did
she marry? My ancestor William Shasteen
came from Wayne Co., KY to Franklin Co., TN probably by 1810. He died in Franklin Co. in 1841. I have never known for sure who his
daughters were. His father Jesse
Shasteen came to Wayne Co., KY from Amherst Co., VA. There was a William Shasteen/Shasteed who served in the War of
1812 who resided in Jackson Co., TN at that time. Have often wondered if he was my William Shasteen. Jackson Co., TN is in direct line from Wayne
Co., KY to Franklin Co., TN. Hope you
can enlighten me on Anna Shasteen's parents and hers and Joel's child.
