Patrick,

I came across your information about Lawrence Anderson at ancestry.com.  Was this information sent to you by my cousin Janice Anderson?  Some of it I find confusing but the presentation sure does sound like Janice.  Last I talked with her she said we had a verbal history of Lawrence coming from Scotland (not England).  Lawrence came into Maryland in 1671 as an indentured servant.  Does this match your records?

There is also a Lawrence Anderson up in New England about this time.  Do you have any information on him?

I appreciate any information you are able to give,

Lowry Anderson

Thank you so much for the wonderful information and it may be that this Hannah is a relative of the Hannah the Hannah that is my 6th Great-grandmother.

My Hannah was married to John Blanton.

She was born around 1670's (?), and her father in laws name was THOMAS BLANTON who had come over from England and had a land grant in Old Rappahannock Co. of first 200 acres in 1682 and later ib 1687 he received another grant of 266 acres adjoining the 1st grant.  His will was probabted in Essex Co. in 1692, when he died there.  He came over from England, and was born in 1646.  His fathers name was John BLANTON, Sr.  Thomas will is listed in "Virginia Wills and Administrations 1632-1800" by Clayton Torrence. Also in a vol. by Sam & Ruth Sparacio, Deed & Will Abstract of Essex County, Virginia 1695-1697 and the other volume is for the years 1697-1699.

This is all I have.  Hannah played a role in her husbands business affairs.

Thank you so much for the information if you have anything on the Blanton side it may make the connection.

I would love to know a bit more of them.

Please.

I was tracing Betsy and Betsy and Elizabeth or the same person. There were a number of Nathaniel Andersons and they are connected to Garland.

I had Betsy(Elizabeth) Anderson in Spotsylvania,VA.1810 with a 20-45 male at home and is prob. Garland,Anderson and Garland is in the 1820 Va. census on page p.76 with 3 sons and 2 daughters. He is on p.112 in Franklin,Tn.1830 with 4 sons and 2 daughters and no wife. Last I have him in Coffoe Co.Tn. on p.63 1850 with 21 year old Nancy and 7 year old named Mary.

Nataniel Anderson went on to Franklin,Tn. and I have him down with children Louisa,DAvid,William,John,James,Mary Ann.

I am sending you four generations of descendants that I have.  There were several more Andersons in Bourbon County who could have been the children of George but since he didn't leave a will, I don't have anything to go on.  I am assuming that George is Reuben's (you will also see Rueben and I have seen Ruben also) father because he was the administrator of the estate, the dates of birth and death would be correct, and because Reuben named one of his daughter's Disey.

I am descended from Reuben's son, Meredeth, and I have quite a bit more info on that side of the family.

I have more information on the family of George and Dicey Anderson (Lawrence, Lawrence)  Dicedema married John Ellis after George's death.  After reviewing John's will and Disey's will, I have come to the conclusion that the children she mentions in her will were the children of George and not John.

Disey Ellis - Will Book B, Page 233, Names sons, John, Reuben, Nathaniel, Edward, William and Cleveland; daughters, Caty and Susan.  Written April 7, 1825.  Probated August 1825.  Executors G. M . Clarkson, William Anderson.  Witnesses - Griffin Robinson, William Cogswell

I am sending you an updated  genealogy report on this family.

I found a register report on the internet by Linda Silvestri. In the report entitled "The Descendency of Lawrence Anderson and Mary Plunket", one of the George Anderson (1747- d. 1803 in Bourbon County, KY) lines through his son Reuben (1770-1848) continues as follows:

6. Reuben ANDERSON. Born about 1770 - 1848

        married Fanny NEALE

They had the following children:

    14    i.    Meredith (1808-1888)

    15    ii.    Benjamin (1803-1874)

    16    iii.    Nancy (-1873)

        iv.    Samuel.

        v.    William. Born in 1795 d. 1868;

                vi.    Elizabeth.

        vii.    Disey.

17            viii.    Reuben (1797-1881)

The lineage is continued in the Merideth, Benjamin, and Nancy Anderson lines on this register. Reuben's son, Samuel, is the line that interests me most. Does anyone have any information about Samuel Anderson?

Patrick,

I am seeking information on the family of Reuben Anderson, son of George Anderson, Son of Lawrence Anderson of Essex Co. VA.  In recent correspondence with Silvet1, she noted the name Samuel Anderson on the will of Reuben Anderson.  My husbands family descends from Samuel Anderson born in KY about 1806. There is some indication that our Samuel might by the son of Reuben.  Has anyone come across information on Samuel Anderson as the son of Reuben Anderson in Bourbon Co. KY.  I would appreciate any assistance.

The first born son of James Anderson and Margaret True, was named after his grandfather, Lawrence Anderson.  His birth came about nine months or so following the marriage of his parents on 28 Jul 1746 in Spotsylvania Co., VA, at their family farm in Caroline Co., VA in about June 1747.

Garland Anderson, born 1782. migrated to Jackson Co. TN with his brothers, Thomas Shirley and Joel about 1806 along with the Edward Robinson family.  He married Sarah Robinson, daughter of Edward Robinson and Anne Meador Robinson.  Sarah was born Sept 25. 1786.  Garland settled on Blackburn's Fork Creek and later was granted land in this area of Jackson Co.  His will was dated Nov 13, 1849, he died in 1850 in Jackson County, TN. (I descend from their son William Garland, born about 1802, died 1873 in Jackson County.)

Joel Anderson, born Aug 31, 1781, married first Ann Shasteen, and 2nd, Sarah Davis Greer.  He died Dec 30, 1852 at his residence in Williamson Co.

Dear Pat, I noticed in various postings that you've done, also, that you list Martha Meador Anderson as dying in Buckingham co in 1841.  I believe Richard may have died there also, instead of Cumberland co.  There is a Richard Anderson, in the 1810 Buckingham co VA census, who seems to fit the right age category.

Best regards, Jan

Dear Patrick, I'm wondering of the Richard Anderson on your site, with a wife Martha Meador could be the Capt Richard Anderson, whose daughter, Eliza, married James Cody in Buckingham co VA on 3 Jan 1805?  I found this marriage in a book "Lost Buckingham County, Virginia Marriages" by Randy Kidd and Jeanne Stinson.  All we've known is that when James Cody's mother, Ann, wrote her will in Prince Edward co VA on 19 March 1813, that James was deceased.  One of her heirs was a granddaughter, Martha James Cody.  James was mentioned as being a merchant in this book.  He would have been about 45 years old at the time of the marriage, if it's the same James Cody, as he served in the Rev War, enlisted on 13 Jan 1778.  We think he was probably 18.

Thanks for your help.  I'm enjoying the music you have on your site as I write this.

Patrick:  I am descended from the marriage of Lewis D. Veal and Nancy L. Anderson, Putnam County, GA February 8, 1816.  I believe she is the daughter of David Anderson and Mourning White but cannot put my finger on a document that states this fact.

Here's why I believe it to be true.......

David Anderson (you have him deceased before 1824 in the Florida Indian Wars), actually died in 1814 in Putnam County.  Estate records  reflect an order for Letters of Administration (Minute Book A, Page 79) on 5/2/1814 with Mourning Anderson and Micajah White Administrators.  In the same book and page - Inventory and Appraisers were appointed and in Bond A, Page 69, a $2000 bond was paid.  On 5/14/1814, the Inventory and Appraisal were completed and filed.  (I have copies of all of these documents).

The Annual Returns, Return Book A, Page 268-269, reflects that Lewis D. Veal (Nancy L. Anderson's husband) was paid $36.00 from the estate and from the years 1815, 1816 there were 5 children.  Later returns 1817 - 1823 state 4 children.  On March 7, 1825, Lewis D. Veal puts up $600 securities for each child for Elijah Anderson (brother of David) to become the guardian of 4 children named:  David B. Anderson, Elizabeth W. Anderson, Jane A. Anderson and Jesse W. Anderson.

On December 3, 1827, Elijah takes "Leave to sell realty and personalty in Virginia".  When he returns in 1828 monies totaling $259.46 from the estate of George Anderson was posted to the account for David Anderson and Jane Anderson - still minors)  The estate also paid him for "going to and returning from Virginia" $12.00.  The guardian was dismissed in 1830.  (I have David Bradley Anderson being born in 1809 which would be about right for his 21st birthday in 1830)

David Bradley Anderson lived with Lewis and Nancy in DeKalb County, Georgia in 1830.  He married Harriett Kilgore in 1838 and they had 13 children.  The names of some of the children reflect family such as:  Morning Jane Anderson, James Lewis Anderson, Nancy V. Anderson (probably Nancy Veal Anderson after who I think was his sister), William D. Anderson, George Washington Anderson, Thomas Jefferson Anderson, etc.

Lewis D. Veal died in 1839.  Nancy L. Anderson Veal and children moved to Russell County, Alabama in 1848 where she died in 1852/3.   I have all of the Estate papers including copies of the bills submitted and her Will.  They only had two boys, one was named David Bradley (her side of the family) and the other Francis DeKalb (Lewis' father's name).

A lot of people have put out some misinformation on this part of the Anderson family and I am really trying to make sense of it.  I only go by documents and I have all of the documents named above.

By the way, David Anderson, Micajah White and Lewis D. Veal all served in the War of 1812 in Alexanders Bttn' Georgia Militia.

SO, I AM HOPING THAT SOMEONE WILL HAVE THE CONNECTION I AM LOOKING FOR - THAT BEING NANCY L. ANDERSON, DAUGHTER OF DAVID AND MOURNING, OR SISTER OF DAVID AND ELIJAH.  I think that Nancy L. would have been born between 1790 - 1800 if she married in 1816.  Lewis was born in 1790 in Amherst County, VA.

Hi Patrick,

Can you tell me about Joel Anderson's 2nd wife Anna Shasteen?  Joel was born 31 Aug 1781 in Cumberland Co., VA and died 30 Dec, 1852 Williamson Co., TN according to your info.  A family history book published in Jackson Co., TN stated they had one daughter.  What was her name and who did she marry?  My ancestor William Shasteen came from Wayne Co., KY to Franklin Co., TN probably by 1810.  He died in Franklin Co. in 1841.  I have never known for sure who his daughters were.  His father Jesse Shasteen came to Wayne Co., KY from Amherst Co., VA.  There was a William Shasteen/Shasteed who served in the War of 1812 who resided in Jackson Co., TN at that time.  Have often wondered if he was my William Shasteen.  Jackson Co., TN is in direct line from Wayne Co., KY to Franklin Co., TN.  Hope you can enlighten me on Anna Shasteen's parents and hers and Joel's child.

I just found your family posting on ancestry.com ... I am descended of Joel Anderson and Sarah D. Greer by their daughter Dorinda F. who married William Sanders Samuel (Giles County, Tenn.)

Am interested in sharing info. I have a lot on Samuel family, but very little on the Anderson family.

Thanks
