Dear Mr. Anderson,

Terry D. Smith responded to my inquiry about this family by giving me your e-mail address.  Our family is descended from Gilbert Christian and Margaret Anderson.  I am have some trouble sorting out the many marriages of Christian/Anderson and Skillern/Anderson and Skillern/Christian.  I hope you can help me.

From the Bible entries of John Anderson, b. May 6, 1750 and Rebecca Maxwell Anderson, b. August 7, 1753, he lists the names of all his 62 grandchildren with dates of birth and whose children they are.  According to this entry and the wills of William Christian and his wife Elizabeth "Betsey" Anderson, these facts are cross referenced as correct.

Several researchers show Gilbert Christian married to Margaret Anderson and the child of William Christian, b. 1772 and Margaret Anderson, b. Est. 1766-1789.  Obviously, Gilbert didn't marry his mother.  Can you verify the parentage of both Margaret Anderson married to Gilbert and Margaret Anderson married to William?

Later, there is a William Christian (one of many) b. 1808 in KY and sometimes shown as the child of William Christian, b. 1772 and Margaret Anderson.  I do not know for sure who the parents of William, Isabella Moffett, George Anderson and Pierra Christian, all born early 1800's in Kentucky were.  There is a possibility that they are the children of John Christian, Sr., son of Gilbert, who was in Kentucky during that time period and would be about the right age.  This group of four brothers and sisters ended up in Nacogdoches, Texas.

I am hopeful, as a direct descendant of Andersons, that you will have more solid information on some of these Margaret Andersons.   Thank you for  any clarification you might be able to give me.

Linda Christian
