I am looking for some information relating to my husband family, who was to have shot a MCGUIRE in self- defence when the Group of Molly McGuire Miners were coming to beat my husbands Gran Father up who was a Hungarian Miner, I understood he ( Frank Nowalk) went to Prison for 7 to 10 year for the shooting, then came very sick and did not live long. I was checking to see if there is any record of this event.I am not sure if the Mr. Mc Guire was killed or just hurt. I was told that Frank Nowalk was told that the Group of Mc Guire were going to his house to beat him up and damage his house and he decided to be ready. Do you have Information on the Molly McGuire and what this was all about? thank you Audrey.N.

Can anyone provide me wife information on Florence Roberts, her parents, her siblings, etc. Florence Roberts, born March 25, 1841at Plattsburgh, New York, daughter of Peter Roberts and Mary Roberts (of Canada), died July 29, 1898 at Boyd,Wisconsin. Peter is listed in the 1870 Census as: Peter Roberts, age 45,farmer, French, living in Milan, Bowling Prairie Twp, Rock Island Co., IL. Another historical listing has him listed as Peter Robberts. An 1880 Wisconsin census shows her sister, Phoebe LEGENDER (age 52, born in Canada), living with them. Florence lived in Plattsburgh, NY until the summer of 1855 when her family moved to Rock Island, Illinois. Florence married Etienne LOISELLE in the Catholic Church (Rock Island (Alexander County?), Illinois) on October 28, 1857. Etienne was born on 28 Jan 1832 in St. Joachim of Chateauguay (Quebec) and died on 19 Feb 1916 in Holcombe, Wisconsin. In 1861 Etienne and Florence left Illinois and arrived in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin on July 4, 1861. In 1893 they moved to California. During the winter of 1894 they returned to Boyd, Wisconsin where they lived until she died on July 29, 1898. He then resided with his daughter at Holcombe, Wisconsin until he died on February 19, 1916. Etienne LOISELLE and Florence ROBERTS had the following children: Thadeous LOISELLE, Cora LOISELLE, Idella (Dell) LOISELLE, Female (Mrs. Alphonse Toutant) LOISELLE, Female (Mrs.Patrick Regan) LOISELLE, Nellie LOISELLE, Clara LOISELLE, Fred LOISELLE, William LOISELLE, Etienne LOISELLE, Albert LOISELLE, Amaca LOISELLE, Ella LOISELLE, and Hazel LOISELLE. I am seeking any additional information that you can add to these families especially the parents/siblings of Pleasant Webb. Thanks a million. ================================================================ Pleasant (Plesent) WEBB1 was born about ca 1760. His son, Elias, said that his father, Pleasant was born in Ireland (not substantiated). He died between 1830 and 1840 in Ohio, USA. Around 1800 Pleasant and family came in to the Ohio valley from Rutherford County, North Carolina. In 1803 (reported to be 45 years old) he was in Scioto County, Ohio and was said to be a notorious character. Supposedly, he tried to break up a fight between James Bradley and the wife and children of James Quire (Squires). He ended up shooting Mr. Quire (Squires). After this incident at the Licks, he was driven out of that area. He is also said to have been a Tory during the Revolutionary War. Pleasant was in GreenupCounty, Kentucky in 1820 and in Lawrence County, Ohio in 1830, he did not appear in the 1840 census, so it is believed he died between 1830-1840. Pleasant (Plesent) WEBB and Unknown (Margaret BLACKWELL?) had the following children: Elias WEBB, James WEBB, Hanley WEBB, Aden WEBB, William WEBB, Margaret WEBB, Baker WEBB, Sarah (Sally) WEBB, and Temperance WEBB.
