You will notice the name MERRILL. The Merrills married
into the Hopkins line along the way. There is now a Merrill Church on RT 16 toward
Elizabeth WV from I-77. I think it was a Baptist Church.

Important Information:
Keith Campbell HOPKINS either had a bad memory, or in some instances,
intentionly falsified information (especially) about his own age. His
recollection of his parent’s year of birth was incorrect as well.
However, there is some question as to who his actual father was, or what
his real name was. Keith lists Paul L. (?) and Grace L. HOPKINS as his
parents in his service records. Grace L. is later revealed as Mrs. C.D.
(Grace) HOPKINS and C.D. is Carl D. HOPKINS. Keith is buried in a West
Virginia cemetery where a Carl D. and Grace HOPKINS are also buried.
Paul L. (?) HOPKINS is unknown. Could this be his older brother?

Note: This 02 Jan.1932 marriage license says that Keith is from
Baltimore, Maryland and that Thelma is from New York City. Keith lists
his age as 26, and that he is a Sales Manager. He also lists his
birthplace as ? Staunton, VA? (not Holloway, OH) He lists his father as
Carl D. of the USA and his mother as Grace Campbell(?) of the USA. Keith
also states this is his first marriage (NOT!) Thelma states she is 21
with the notation 2 Oct 1910 off to the side of her age, Her occupation
is Nurse; Her Place of birth is Chelyan, WV. Thelma’s parents are Henry
of the USA, and Lelia ? Thamfrau of the USA. She also states this is her
first marriage.
In an affidavit for License to marry, dated 2 Jan. 1932, I was able to
make out more clearly that Keith stated he was born in Staunton, VA and
also gave his mother Grace’s place of birth as Kanawha County, WV.
Thelma’s mother’s maiden name “Thamfrau” is now translated “Thompson”.
Again, Keith and Thelma both claim no previous marriages.
