I am guilty of failing to make it clear that I don't
believe I'm closely
related to the Hopkinses in Indiana and/or Hopkins Co., TX. I just had
info. about the Hopkins Co. TX census for 1850. I am going to post it
here for whomever it will help. (I had relatives in Kentucky who came
to Clinton Co., from GA, in 1808, and some may have migrated to
Indiana/Illinois, but most moved moved westward into MO, KN, AR,and to
TN. Here's the Hopkns co. TX 1850 census of Hopkins:

Lonie Jane, above was my Great Grandmother who died in 1905 after giving
birth to her sixth child. She married William Edward Yancey.
1900 Federal census of Red River County, Texas
Hopkins, Cullen P. M 58
Mary J. F 52
Rowland W.M 14
Perry C...M 12
In this census Cullen and Mary are listed as married 32 years and having ten
children. Two must have died in infancy.
Also, this census lits his fathers birth state as Virginia and his mothers
as North Carolina. Three different census' and three different answers on my
most important issue, Where did they come from?
Cullen and Mary moved to Montague County, Texas through the 1910 and 1920
census. Perry married and lived and died in Oklahoma.
I also checked the Tennesse records and found that Cullen P. Hopkins served
with Co. I, 12th Tennessee Infantry
