Patterson jr of Lunenburg Co. in Colony of Virginia my true and lawful
attorney…to recover…from Abraham Maury the sum of 100 lbs current money
which now is a suit depending in the court of Lunenburg County…also for him
to sell…a certain tract of land lying in the county of Hanover whereon John
Hopkins dec'd lived and devised in his will to his son William, also to
dispose of a tract of land in Albermarle County lying in the North Garden
joining Thomas Nelson Esq…this 17th October 1770.

of Benjamin Green who m. Elizabeth Fripp, Her father was John Fripp Jr. who
m. Martha Elms, both died in St. Helens Parish. Will pay for information.

Will of Jonathan Chadwick of Richland District and State of South
Caorlina.... all my lawful debts and funeral expenses shall be paid out of
the first mony arising from my Estate in any manner whatever, after payment
of my said debts, I lend unto Hester Susannah McRae all my land or Real
Estate during her natural life, also one sorrel mule, two cows & calves, two
two year old yearlings together with their increase, twelve head year old
hogs, three sows & Pigs together with their increase, twenty one head geese,
two beds & furniture, one Sideboard and desk, one spinning wheel, one/ 2
dozen Chairs, one large dish, one half dozen plates & one half dozen cups &
saucers, and one Riding Gig, during her natural life, and at the death of
the above mentioned Hester Susannah McRae, I give and bequeath all the above
mentioned Property both real and personal to the children or heirs of the
body of the said Hester Susannah McRae… I also give and bequeath unto Lydia
Joyner, one brindled Cow and Pided Calf and two pided heifers together with
their increase, and also two sows & pigs together with their increase… to
William Thomas Coleman, one bed and furniture, and also one sow and pigs
together with their increase… to Elizabeth Mary Wilder, one Pot and one
Bedstead… I do hereby nominated constitute and appoint my friends William
Hopkins and James U. Adams my lawful executors, 2 April 1845. Jonathan

BUTLER. Connie Hayes (Rt 2 Box 140, Holt, MO 64048) Am studing all southern
Butler families in hopes of tying them together to find my own Joel Butler
and his family. Joel Butler b. 1785 S.C. Where? He married Catharine born
1793 S.C. They resided Lincoln Co. Tenn. 1813-1850. After that Hopkins Co.
Kent. Would like to correspond with any southern Butler researchers.

HOPKINS-DILL-ROGERS-REYNOLDS-DAVIDSON-ACORD/ACKARD. Sherry Kyle (2701 George
Ct., Rolling Meadows, IL 60008) needs informations on Andrew and Sarah
(Dill) Hopkins and their children: Cynthia b. 1793 S.C. m. Millenton
Reynolds 1814 Rutherford Co. Tenn.; Sarah b. 1800 S.C. m. Robert David
Rogers; Margaret m. a Davidson; Elizabeth m. Jonas Acord/Ackard; John, no
information. Andrew and Sarah Hopkins with their children's families
migrated from Tenn. to southern Illinois around 1818. I have no further
information on Andrew and Sarah Hopkins but will exchange additional
information on the Rogers and Reynolds lines.

HOPKINS-REYNOLDS. James D. Hynes (1115 Peerless Dr., NW, Cleveland, TN
37311) seeking any information regarding Sudley C. Hopkins and his wife
Margaret Reynolds. According to gravestones Sudley b. 1809 d. 1896; Margaret
b. 1814 d. 1891. According to family legend both b. S.C., married and had
several children there. Then moved to Fayette Co. Ala. mid 1830's where they
had eleven more children; then moved to Dunklin Co. Missouri where they both
died and buried in Elder Cemetery, Dunklin Co.

Will of James Henry, planter, of Richland District… the whole of my estate,
both real and personal shall remain together for the payment of my debts and
for the support of my wife and unmarried children, and after the death of my
wife and paymetn of debts, my lands shall remain undivided for the use of my
two sons John P. Henry and Samuel G. Henry and my grandson James Henry,
share and share alike; provided that my grandson James W. Henry shall return
to South Carolina and reside upon the land which I have given him, but if he
should not return it is my will that he shall not have any part of my lands;
my personal estate to be divided among my children or their heirs Margaret
Livingston the wife of John G. Livingston, Ann Souden wife of Joshua Souden,
Jane Creber wife of William B. Creber, Barbara E. Collins wife of Jesse
Collins, Rebecca Henry, Francis Henry, Martha Melton wife of Jonathan
Melton, John P. Henry, Samuel G. Henry and my two grandchildren James W.
Henry and Mary Ann Henry received the share that their father James Henry
would have received had he been living; my granddaughter Martha Ann Davis
shall receive out of her mother's Ann Souden share, one negro girl… sons

6 Aug 1771, John Conrad Gallman of Saxegotha Township, Gentleman, to John Gallman, for � 750…whereas on 17 Sept 1736, a grant of 350 acres was granted to Jacob Coleman decd., and after the decease of the said Jacob Coleman, partition was made between his children, and 100 acres became the property of Capt. Henry Gallman deceased, one of the sons of the said Jacob Colsman, and whereon the said Captain Henry Gallman resided, and on 14 May 1752, a certain plantation was granted to sd. Capt. Henry Gallman,100 acres adj. Jacob Coleman, heirs of James Hopkins, Patrick Brown, and whereas the sd. Capt. Henry Gallman departed this life, but before his decease made his last will and testament, 28 Dec 1765, and by which he bequeathed to his sons the said John Conrad Gallman and Gasper Gallman, two tracts of 200 acres and whereon the said John Conrad Gallman resided…now to John Gallman.…

p. 72. Mary Ann Means vs David R. Evans and Robert Means Extrs. of John Means, Hilliard Judge & ux, Sarah Means and others, heirs of John Means - Petition for Partition. On motion of Mr. Johnson, Solicitor for petitioner, ordered that Thodore Randol be appointed guardian ad libitum to the infant children of the said John Means mentioned in the petition, and that a Writ of Partition be directed to Major Russell, Capt. Ephraim Lyles, William Hughes, ______Waters, and Ferdinand Hopkins requiring them to make partition and division of the premises mentioned in said petition, they to make return of their proceeding thereon to the next Court of Equity to be holden for this District.

5 Oct 1774, Jacob Couch of Craven County, Province of South Carolina, Planter, to Joel McLemore of said county and province, planter… by a grant dated 10 Feb 1749 to Jacob Shneider, a tract of 200 acres opposite to the lower part of Saxe Gotha Township in the low grounds of the Congaree River on Raifords Creek, bounded on the north on vacant land, to the east by land aid out to Casper Kentz, to the south by Land laid out to Anthony Cuplar and to the west by land laid out to George Haig, Esquire; said Jacob Shneider by indenture of lease and release 28 & 29 Jan 1752 did grant and release to Casper Kentz (alias Couch), and whereas the said Casper Couch died intestate and the right of inheritance of the land devolved on Jacob Couch, eldest son of the said Casper Couch deceased… now for 484 pounds lawful money of the province doth sell to Joel McLemore… all that part of the tract containing 88 acres (being the northern most part of the tract granted to Jacob Shneider) adj. Thomas Jeffreys, John Hopkins, Thomas Taylors… Jacob Couch (JK), Wit: Joseph Rees, John Hopkins. Proved 5 Oct 1774. A Memorial hereof entered in the Auditor Generals Office in Book N 13 page 507 24th June 1775.

The Petition and affidavit accompanying it having been read, Ordered on motion of Mr. Blanding Solicitor for the Petitioner that a Writ do issue directed to Thomas Hopkins, James English, William Guphill, Thomas Watts & William Watts requiring them to enquire of the Lunacy of William Fitzpatrick, and that the said Commissioners do make their return to the Court of Equity for the district of Columbia.
