Hello everyone,
I have found the location of the uniform in question of Col. Nuckols at the following site.
It shows the sleeve of the uniform with the bullet hole.

Several images, and even some original uniforms of Orphan Brigade officers survive. These show a general adherence to Confederate regulations, with single and double breasted frock coats and kepis predominating. A very interesting "fatigue" uniform worn by Gen. S.B. Buckner is in the Museum of the Confederacy. It is a pleated front frock coat, apparently based on the hunting frocks of some KSG companies. (Buckner's dress KSG coat is also in the Museum of the Confederacy.) A regulation field grade officer's frock coat worn by Col. Joseph Nuckols of the 4th Kentucky Infantry is in the Kentucky Military History Museum. The left sleeve shows the marks of the bullet that wounded Nuckols at Chickamauga, disabling him from further service.

HONORING THE CONFEDERATE SOLDIERS OF BARREN CO

The General Ben Hardin Help Camp 1703, Sons of Confederate Veterans
successfully put on a program at noon today honoring 13 soldiers
buried at the Glasgow Municpal Cemetery. It was so well done. The
videographer did not make it, but several of us took pictures and the photographer
from the Glasgow Daily Times was there. The welcome was by Tim Bowman,
Commander of the camp; there was a parade of colors by the color
guard; Darlene Mercer, President of the Emilie Todd Helm Chapter read a wonderful poem (which she promised to send me a copy of "Do They Remember Me in Dixie?"; songs were by Michele Cull, president of the ETHelm Chapter.

At each grave, a short bio was read on the soldiers, and Darlene
placed (if no family was present) a small Confederate flag and
carnation on the stone. The stone - gorgeous - is a flat stone with the soldier's name,
rank and dates of service, and unit #. The following soldiers were honored:

William M Steenbergen, William Dickinson, William W. Franklin, John A
Murry (The Old Reb), Luke Chenault, Franklin Gorin, Jr, Ambrose S.
Clayton, Alonzo E Peden, E M Smith, Jack Lewis (son of General Lewis),
Fountain C. Carter, John H Yancey and Joseph P. Nuckols. At the Lewis
monument a 21 gun salute followed.
