THIS INDENTURE Made the 19th Day of February in the year
of our Lord 1798 Between Moses Hopkins of the County of Randolph & State of No.
Carolina of the one part & Samuel Trogdon of the sd. County & State of the other
part witnesseth that the sd. Moses Hopklins for the consideration of the Sum of Three
Hundred Dollars to him in hand paid by the sd. Samuel Trogdon the Receipt whereof he the
sd. Moses Hopkins Doath hereby Acknowledge & himself to be fully and Intirely
satisfied hath Bargained & Sold by these preasants in plain & open Markett Doath
Bargain Sell Grant Alien (?) & Confirm unto the sd. Samuel Trogdon his Heirs &
Assigns forever A certain tract or parcel of Land lying in the sd. County of Randolph on
the South Side of Deep River Beginning at a White Oak Saplin & Runing No. 98 Degrees
& 96 poles to a post oak thence South East 12 poles to a Stake thence No. 43 Degrees E
(?) 74 poles to a gum on the River Bank thence down the River 60 poles to a Black Walnut
thence East along the Original line 60 poles to a post Oak thence South on the Original
line 140 poles to a White Oak thence on sd. Original line 120 poles to a Hicory Bush
thence South on sd. Original line 20 poles to a Black Oak thence North on sd. Original
line 86 poles to the Beginning Containing in the Whole One Hundred & Seventy Acres it
being part of a whole Tract Which Dennis Hopkins Made over to the sd. Moses Hopkins --? be
it more or be it Less Togeather With all Woods Watters mines minerals wags (?) Comodites
Advantages & Profitts of the sd. premises & Every part & parcel thereof &
all the Estate Right Tille Dowrey Intent [?] & demand [demesne] Whatever of him the
sd. Moses Hopkins & of Every part thereof to Have and to Hold the sd. Mesnage[mesne]
& All & Singular the Above Mentioned premises & Every part & parcel
thereof & to the only propur use & Behoof of the sd. Samuel Trogdoh his Heirs
& Assigns forever & I the sd. Moses Hopkins for mySelf & My Heirs the sd.
Tract of Land & Premises & Every part thereof against me & against my Heirs
& Assigns all & Every person or persons whatever Laying any to full claim to the
above Mentioned Premises to the sd. Samuel Hopkins* will Warrant & forever
Defend by these Preasants as witness my hand & Seal the day above written

The Execution of the above Deed of Conveyance from Moses
Hopkins to Samuel Trogdon was duly Proved in Open Court by John Moss & ordered to be
Registered.
