This indenture made this 19th day of August 1805 between
Jesse Stroud of Randolph County & state North Carlina of the one part & Charles
Duncan of the state & county affsd of the other part Witnesseth that the sd
Jesse Stroud for & in consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars to me in hand
paid by the sd Charles Duncan the recpt whereof is hereby acknowleged before
the delivery of these presents doth grant bargain & sell alien & convey & by
these presents hath bargained sold enfeofed & confirmed unto the sd Charles
Duncan his heirs & assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land situate or lying
& being in the afsd county on the south side of Deep River containing by
estimation 185 acres be the same more or less beginning at the river runing south to
hickory then west to B.O. Na(??) Cox corner in Fuquas line thence north 50 chs. to
stake in the XXX then down the various courses of the river to the Beginning being part of
a tract of land that the sd Jesse Stroud purchased of Abraham Stroud who purchased it of
Thomas Medcalf who purchased it of Hercules Ogle who purchased it of John Hopkins who
cleared the deed for the same of the Earle of Granvill & also the Estate right(?)
title interest claim & demand whatsoever of the sd Jesse Stroud his Es

THIS INDENTURE made the fifth day of November in the year
of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & ninety four between Simeon Geron Esq., high
sheriff of Randolph County in the state of North Carolina of the one part, and William
Bell of the county & state aforesd of the other part: Witnesseth that the
said Simeon Geron by virtue of his office aforesd and pursuant to a writ of
fasia facias issueing from the clerks office of the Superior Court of Law &
Equity for the District of Halifax bearing date the twenty third day of April one thousand
seven hundred & ninety four &C commanding the sheriff that, of the goods &
chattles land & tenements of Robert McLean, John Stannfield, Robert Reading, Pearce
Noland, Phillip Rodey & Dennis Hopkins, he cause to be made the sum of one thousand
two hundred & seventeen pounds thirteen shillings & 4 d & that he should have
the said moneys before the judges of the Superior Court of Law & Equity for the
District of Halifax on the twenty third day of October in the same year, then & there
to render to the state the damages &C he the sd Simeon Geren Esq high
sheriff by virtue of his office & in performace of the aforesd writ of
fasia facias, as also by force of the act of assembly in such case made & provided,
did lay the sd writ of fasia facias on one tract of land the property of Robert
Reading, containing three hundred acres more or less lying on Back Creek said to be the
property of Robert Reading (no asset or other property of the said Robert Reading being
found) & having previously advertised the same at the court house & sundry other
publick places within the said county of Randolph forty days before the day of sail (sic),
he the said Simeon Geron on the eighth day of September anno dominy (sic) one thousand
seven hundred & ninety four did enfeofe(?) to sail (sic) by way of public vendue in
fair and open markett the aforesd tract or parcel of land (to wit) lying &
being in the county of Randolph aforesd on Back Creek Watters, beginning at a
hickory & runing south forty chains to a pine then east bounded by Hendey(?), crossing
the creek seventy five chains to a black oak, then north forty chs. to a stake, then west
crossing the creek to the beginning, containing 300 acres he the same more or less for the
consideration of one hundred & seventy pounds current money of the state of North
Carolina in hand paid by the sd William Bell, he being the highest bidder, the
receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, he the sd Simeon Geron hath granted
& sold & by these presents douth grant bargain & sell unto the said William
Bell the aforesd tract or parcel of land with all & singular the
improvements & appurtenances thereunto belonging, as at least all the estate right
title interest claim & demand whatsoever which he the sd Robert Reading hath had or
ought to have had of, in, & to the said tract of land with the appurtenances thereunto
belonging, unto him the said William Bell his heirs & assigns to have & to hold
the said tract or parcel of land with the appurtenances as at least all the right, title,
property claim, & demand whatsoever which he the sd Robert Reading hath had
or ought to have had of, in, & to the said tract of land & premises, unto him the
said William Bell to the only proper use & behoof of him the sd William
Bell, his heirs & assigns forever In witness whereof the said Simeon Geron high
sheriff of the said county of Randolph hath hereunto set his hand & affixed his seal
