A Deed of Gift
To all people to whom this present wrighting shall come I
Dinnis Hopkins of the State of North Carolina and County of
Randolph send greeting Know ye that I the said Dinnis Hopkins as well for and in
consideration of the naturall love and affection which I have and bare unto my well
beloved son Moses Hopkins as for divers other good causes and consideration me whereunto
moving have given and granted and by these presents do fully clearly & absolutely give
grant and confirm unto the said Moses Hopkins all my lands horses mairs and colts cattle
sheep hogs wagon still and vessels of all sorts plowes gears and beds and beding & all
my other of my household pleanishings and farming tools with the crop of
all sorts that is now upon the aforesaid land to have and to hold all the lands goods
chattle implements of all sorts as above mentioned to the aforesaid Moses Hopkins his
executors and administrators and assigns to his and their own own proper use forever
and behoof forever therefore and therewith so to use and dispose at his and their wills
and pleasure as of his and their own property goods lands and chattles without any manner
of challenge claims or demands of me the said DInis Hopkins or of eany other person or
persons for me in with my name cause by any cause meanes
consent or person ment and further know ye I the said Dinnis Hopkins have put the said
Moses Hopkins in full possession of all and singular the aforesaid primises by the
delivery unto him at the ensealing hereof in wrighting witness whereof
set my hand and seal this 4th of October 1790.

Moses Hopkins was duly proved in open court by William Alred and ordered to be recorded.

This Indenture made the eighteenth day of March in the
year One Thousand Seventeen Hundred & Ninety Three Between Denis Hopkins
of the County of Randolph & State of North Carolina of the one part & Moses
Hopkins of the County & State afordsd of the other part.
Witnesseth that the sd Dennis Hopkins for and in consideration of the sum of
One Hundred Pounds to me in hand paid, the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge &
my self to be fully satisfied, have bargained & sold & by these preasents do
Bargain grant sell alien and confirm unto the sd Moses Hopkins his his[sic]
heirs and assigns forever all that majorage [measurage?] or tract of land situate lying
& being in the county of Randolph and State of North Carolina & on the waters of
Deep River, Beginning at a White Oak sapling & Running No. 78 & 96 poles to a post
oak, then south East 12 poles to a Stake thence N 43 S 74 poles to a gum on the River bank
thence down the River 60 poles to a Black walnut thence S 60 poles to a post oak thence S
140 poles to a white oak thence W 120 poles to a hickory bush thence south 20 poles to a
black oak thence W 140 poles to a black oak thence North 46 poles to the beginning,
Containing one hundred & seventy acres be it more or less, & all woods waters
mines minerals hays[?] commodities and advantages & profitts of the sd premises
[strikeovers] above mentioned & also the reversions, remainders, & profitts of the
sd premises & of every part thereof & all the Estate Rights All[?]
dowry interest claim & demand whatever of him the sd Moses Hopkins & of every part
thereof to Have & to Hold the sd majorage[measurage?] & all & and
singular the above mentioned premises & every part & parcell thereof & to the
only proper use & Behoof of the sd Moses Hopkins his heirs and assigns
forever & I the sd Dennis Hopkins for myself and my heirs the sd
tract or parcell of land & premises & every part thereof against me & my heirs
& against all & every other person or persons whatsoever laying claim from me or
under my heirs. To the sd Moses Hopkins his heirs & assigns shall &
will warrant & forever be bound by these preasents as witness my hand & seal the
day & year above written ----
