        I John Hopkins being of sound mind & memory but weak in body and calling to mind that is appointed for all men once to dy  do make and ordain this my last will and testament. First I recommend my Soul to the hands of almighty God who gave it & my body to be buried in a decent Christian manner 97 and my property wherewith it has pleased God in this  life to help me with I dispose of in the following manner (viz) first I give and bequeath to - beloved  wife Martha my big bay mare and saddle and the best bed and cloathing belonging to it, cupboard furniture
and two of the best cows, all the potential one young roan mare, all the Hogs and my lands with the improvements also three Heifers, all the geese and one young Bald face mare and one twenty dollar note on Charles Cabanis I allow to be sold to pay my debts and to my step daughter Polly Moore I give one young roan mare, to my son Washington  Hopkins I give my young claybank horse and to my wife I give all my farming tools of every discription my wheelright tools of every discription to be devided in two parcels and to be set up & sold and my wife to have the money and to be disposed of as she thinks proper, also my rifle gun to be sold for the benifit of my wife. I also appoint  my wife Martha Hopkins, William Mc Nabb and  Aaron Blakeman my Ececutors ratifing this and no other to be my last will & testament. In testamony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 12th day of October 1813

At a County Court held for Green County at the Courthouse as the 25th day of October 1813.
                The within will of John Hopkins was proven by the oath of John Emerson and
John Chinault to be the act and Deed of the said John Hopkins & that they believed heirs at the time of  exacuting. The same to do in his perfect mind and memory and the same is ordered to be recorded which is done.

In the name of God amen. I Alexander Hindman of Green County and Commonwealth
of Kentucky being of perfect health Both in body, mind and memory do make this my
Last will and testament. First I leave my Soul to god that gave it and my body to be
buried in a decent manner at the discression of my (?)  and Secondly all my honest debts
and burying to be paid. Thirdly I leave unto my loving wife Mary her own bed and
furniture Necessary these to be disposed of at her own death to whom She pleases and
(?) (?) one horse Saddle and bridle and one Cow and also her living to be with my
only Son Robert while she lives Fourthly I leave unto my eldest Daughter Rebeckah
(now Rebeckah Watt) one Dollar as She has already Received her due Shear Fifthly
I leave and bequeath to my  Second Daughter Mary one young mare Saddle and bridle
and now is in her own possession and one Cow and Calf and bed and furniture and
(?) half dozen powter plates

Sixthly I leave and bequeath to my  youngest Daughter Daughter Jane one
young Horse or mare to be Valued at not less than ninety dollar and for every
other article equal to her Sister Mary  Seventhly I do hereby make ordain
constitute and appoint my Son Robert and my Trusty friend Robert Tilford Senior my
Sole executors of this my last will and  Testament Eighthly and lastly I also give
and bequeath to my son Robert all and Singular my lands and tenaments  messages
and moveable property all and in every  part to have and to hold to enjoy and posses
all personal and real estate after what is mentioned to be given to the above mentioned
legalees who is all to have their living with him while they Remain unmarried and
in Testimony of this being my last will  and Testament and by it do disallow Revolk
and disannul all former wills, testaments legacies and Bequeaths made prior to this date

and Robert Tigard Senior the (?) therein named who took the oath required by law and

Alexander Walker and William Hopkins their Securities in the penal Sum of  one
thousand pounds conditioned as the law directs the Execution of the Said will is granted

The will is from Green Co. Kentucky, Will Book 1, pages 96-98, written
12 Oct 1813.

Add that Martha is John's second wife. His first being Mary HINDMAN d. abt.1812 leaving 2 sons, Alexander and Robert. Mary was the daughter of Alexander and Mary BOYD HINDMAN.

Any information as to the parents/siblings etc.C of John HOPKINS  and
Mary BOYD would be appreciated.

This was from Bourbon KY Probate, I believe H:235  The number on one of the pages is 133; this may be the estate file number, but I don't KNOW.   Your numbers are different, so this may not be
the one you want.  Anyway, the web page can have it for future reference.

Are you related to this family?  We believe this John may be brother to our ancestor.   This is probably the same John Hopkins who was in Washington Co. PA with wife Catherine and whose deeds were witnessed by Benjamin Mills Jr.

In the name of God Amen.  I John Hopkins of the County of Bourbon and Commonweaqlth of Kentucky being afflicted in body but sound in judjment [sic] and memory doth in these presents make this my last Will and Testament first through the will and mercy of God I do bequeath my soul to him who first gave it and my body to the dust.  Secondly my Plantation that I now live on I leve [sic] to my loving Wife with one third of my movable Estate and at my Wifes decease the above plantation to my son George Washington Hopkins and a Horse Bridle and Saddle and I
also will and bequeath to Easter Hopkins a Horse Bridle and Saddle and a good Cow and Calf.  I also will bequeath to Peggy Hopkins a Horse best Bridle and Saddle and a good Cow and Calf with all my Household furniture to be equally divided between Easter and Peggy and the
remainder of my Estate to be equally divided amongst all my Children.  And I also will and constitute my son George W. Hopkins and John Hpokins to be my Executors according to law as far as it is agreeable to this my last Will and Testament in year of our Lord this second day of November 1813.

p. 369 Will of David Hopkins, made (blank) day of March 1836, proved 14th & 15 Nov. 1836, (1) "my sould to Almighty God & my body to decent burial by side of my father if convenient; both graves to be enclosed with a stone wall & each grave covered with neat tombstone; (2) executors to pay just debts; (3) to my beloved wife ADELINE(sic) during her natural life 1/3 of my estate; (4) to my beloved dau~Eliza, balance of my estate at lawful age. Should Ann Eliza die without heirs, her portion to be shared equally between Orlando Nelson Hopkins (my brother Joseph Hopkins' eldest son) & David McDonald, my sister Anne McDonald's eon named for me. Sole executors: John Berry, Jacob Cassity, George Thompson.

Total $42O.87 1/2....Met 3 March & closed this settlement, R. Hopkins & John Berry present - & find David Hopkins indebted to estate of Francis Hopkins, deceased, in sum of $420.87~. Will of Dennis Hopkins

Know all men by these presents that I, Dennis Hopkins, of the County of
Clinton and State of Kentucky, being of Sound and disposing mind but in
feeble health do make and publish this as my last will and testament
after resigning my Body  to its’ mother dust and my Spirit unto God who
made it.
First I want my wife to have my Clay Bank mare and Side Saddle, one bed,
bedstead and furniture and one Beaureau.  I also want my grand daughter
Polly Jane Hopkins to have Sixty dollars worth of property in addition
to one bed and furniture I have already given her.  I also wish all my
other personal property to be Sold at public Sale and after all my just
debts is paid the balance of the Sale notes to be equaly divided with
hereinafter named my children.  I also wish my Black Boy Joe Sold and
proceeds divided with my children. I also wish the Balance of my Land
divided begining at a Stake in the land that divides Reuben Hurts land
and my own near a small Muberry and running with the crops fence a
northery direction until it strikes the Land I sold to E. L. Hopkins,
and my desire and wish is that E. L. Hopkins shall have the Land on the
west Side of Said line.  Beyond that P. H. Hopkins shall have the Land
on the East Side of said line which part includes the dwelling House
where I now live.  By E. L. Hopkins and P. H. Hopkins paying unto my
other Children their proportionable part of the worth of said Land.  The
price to be hereafter ascertained by agreement with the Heirs and if
they cannot agree upon a price, then to leave it two or more referees to
be selected by them, That is the Heirs, giving the said E. L. Hopkins
and P. H. Hopkins a reasonable time to pay the money for the Land.

I also want it expressly understood that my wife Polly Hopkins is to be
paid forty dollars per year during her natural life to be paid by E. L.
Hopkins and P. H. Hopkins out of the price of my Land, they retaining a
sufficiency in their hands out of the price of the Land instead of
paying it out to the other Heirs.
I also wish and appoint P. H. Hopkins and H. W. Hopkins to attend to
Settleing of my business take notes and pay any debts.  in witness I
hereunto set my hand and Seal declaring This to be my last will and
Testament.
