1790, Territory of Kentucky, July 26, 1790, to union 1792

1st enumeration to begin Aug (1st Monday) 1790 and to be completed within 9 months.

Census burned in War of 1812.

For Bourbon Co., 8 pages of 1790 were used to reconstruct census, and 3 volumes of 1791. There is some duplication of names. The first census consisted of 9 Kentucky

Counties: Bourbon, (1785), Fayette, Jefferson, Lincoln, Madison, Mason, Mercer, Nelson,

Woodford.

1850  Harlan Co. Census

Calvina Hopkins is listed as third wife of Silas W. Saylor,  son of Solmon
Saylor & Rebecca Brock.  Married in Harlan 1865. (this information from 1850
Harlan Connections by Frances Durham & Holly Fee  - not sure about copyright
legalities)


It is believed by those of us working on this line that most Hopkins found
here are descended from George & Elizabeth Saylor Hopkins who migrated to the
Harlan area between 1850 & 1860.  It is believed that George & Elizabeth
migrated to Kansas after 1900 and remained there for the rest of their lives.
I am awaiting information re the possibility of this George having served in
the Civil War for the North (KY).  George is believed to be the son of Stephen
Hopkins, ( I believe the one listed in the 1880 Census with his daughter and
grand son)  If information  we have is correct this family goes back to US
entry in 1635 at Oyster Bay Long Island, NY the descendants of Thomas Hopkins.

I am descended from Joseph, son of George.  Most of Joseph's children migrated
along with him to Lincoln Co/Rockcastle Co area of Kentucky (specifically the
"towns" of Mt. Vernon, Brodhead and Crab Orchard) after the 1900 Census.   Many
still reside in the area and many others have moved north to Ohio and now are
found throughout the country.
