CAMPUSVisitation for Leona F. Ahern, 88, of Campus, will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, with
a wake service at 5:30 p.m. at VonQualen-Harris Funeral Home, Dwight. A funeral Mass will be celebrated
at 10 a.m. Monday, by the Rev. Richard Pighini, at Sacred Heart Church, Campus, where she was a member.
Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Campus. Memorials may be made to her church or to the donor's
choice.
Mrs. Ahern died Thursday (Oct. 22, 1998) in Kankakee. She was born June 13, 1910, in Reddick, the
daughter of Neil J. and Mary Nugent Pedersen. She attended Reddick grade and high schools.
Her husband, Theodore F. Ahern, whom she married in 1936, died April 13, 1985. Surviving are three sons
and one daughter-in-law, Francis and Rose Ahern of Herscher, Neil Ahern of Campus and Thomas Ahern
of Chicago; two daughters and sons-in-law, Theda and Edward Pazdur of Newport Beach, Calif., and Kathy
and Dr. Joseph Meisenbach of Kankakee; one brother, Neil Pedersen of Kankakee; a sister, Loretta Verdun
of Odell; four grandchildren and spouses, Joe and Tammy Ahern and Lynn Ahern, all of Herscher, Jonathan
Meisenbach of Kankakee and Mark and Staci Pazdur of Newport Beach, Calif; two great-grandchildren,
Ryan and Paul Ahern of Herscher; and three sisters-in-law, Marie Ahern, Maxine Pedersen and Winifred
Walsh. Mrs. Ahern was a member of the Friendship Club. She enjoyed her family, gardening and watching
sports. |
